We love Isola! The owner Massimo is often there and he takes great pride in his restaurant and is super nice and friendly! It’s our favorite Italian restaurant!
best pizza ever
There was a customer in the inside bar area who had a dog with her. The staff would stop and pet the animal. I do not think I will return to this restaurant again. There was outdoor seating, which nobody was sitting at.
This is our second time visiting this location. They provide great service and the food is phenomenal. Definitely a family favorite and I enjoy telling friends to visit this Isola! You won't be disappointed!
Incredible!! I love this place. They also have a really good happy hour!
Very accommodating to our group. .
I took my daughter here before seeing a play - it was perfect. Food was delish, and the service was attentive, friendly and fast, while maintaining a nice, relaxed dining experience.
Disappointed with the service. I’ve been at Isola several times but my last visit wasn’t great. We were a party of 6. Service was really slow. It was busy and it just didn’t feel that they were adequately staffed for the night. They ran out of chairs and we had to wait for a few minutes for a chair to be free. It didn’t help at all that I made reservations. They also ran out of champagne flutes. We needed 3 and had to wait for another 1. We ordered focaccia bread for starters which they forgot. They made amends by not charging us for our pizza. I really enjoyed the squid ink spaghetti with shrimp. It’s a large portion. I still like Isola because it’s energetic and lively and the food is good but was disappointed that the service wasn’t great. It wasn’t a good experience for my friends so I doubt they’ll be back.
really good pizza which is hard to find in san diego
Always predictably wonderful. Wait staff is efficient and very kind. We love to eat there!
Great food, pizzas were some of the best we've ever had! Pasta dishes were also a hit, especially the rigatoni special. Fun ambiance, good service, great for groups. Wines were very enjoyable. Overall a great night, we will return!
Amazing wood fired oven pizza. Sunday special calzone really excellent.
Read reviews and wanted to try it. The server recommended their Italian wine which was wonderful. The ravioli and pizza were amazing. Great flavors. We will be back!
Absolutely love this place!
Really surprised at the food (incredibly good). Best pizza outside of New York, and incredible pasta dishes. Went twice in 3 days it was so good. In a town with really expensive restaurants, this may be the very best and is definitely the best value in La Jolla. 6 stars!!
Ravioli with beef and pesto pasta were super. Pizza with mozzarella cheese - very sparse on the cheese and sauce, crusts burnt on edges, very little flavor. Water in glasses lukewarm and never got refills.
Very accommodating. Excellent, not overly intrusive service. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Airy on a hot summer night. Just right.
Nice atmosphere and great pasta and pizza.
We had the speck and mushroom pizza and the shaved asparagus and brie pizza -- both were delicious! Would definitely come back!
Great Pizza. I liked their menu. Nice assortment of items. I will go back
It’s a fabulous place in every way, except, while the crust is great, the pizza itself was a little thin on toppings and actually pretty bland in flavor. I can’t remember the name of my pizza, it had sausage and maybe onions on it. It could use some kalamata olives on it. It needs salt and those olives would bring that flavor. Otherwise, it’s awesome!
Burrata was good, pizza was awesome. Service was fantastic.
really good pizza and pasta, great for sharing, a true neighborhood find
After securing my reservation through open table I was surprised when we arrived at the restaurant that the hostess had no record of us on her schedule and seem to think that we didn’t actually have a reservation after she checked more carefully she found our reservation. Not a very pleasant beginning to a meal the food is superior the ambience is lovely they just need a better hostess.
Pizza was thrown together, no sauce at all on almost half the pizza. They had fuel in only 1 side of the pizza oven, and the pizza chef was using the peel to rotate each pizza and lift it up to cook the bottom. He burned the first one, I was watching from my table. Second one was thrown together and unevenly cooked, but still tasted great, wish the sauce was on the whole pizza. My wife's special pasta carbonara had perfect house made pasta, completely ruined by very poor quality pancetta, full of hard fatty chunks.
We used to eat here all the time, but it’s really gone down hill in the last few months. There is no quality control so proportions change depending on the day. I ordered an appetizer that was extremely salty. The kitchen had made this slow cooked dish earlier in the day but nobody bothered to taste it and it was inedible
Basically this was one of the best places in La Jolla. It was one of our favorite. After several bad experiences we won’t be going back
Excellent food as usual , one of our favorite places in La Jolla and San Diego
Best pasta and pizza in town
I even ordered fish and it was still excellent
Love everything about Isola!!
Love, love the food. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
While they promote this as a "Pizza Place," it's really much, much more than that.
The various entrees and side dishes are simply outstanding - the best you'll find ANYWHERE!
Tuesday has $10 pizza and wine.. OMG great!! Their pizza never disappoints.
Wonderful ! Enjoyed everything !
Went with friends for dinner. Good Italian wine selection and excellent garlicky dip to start. Squid ink pasta with shrimp was great as was pasta special. Speck pizza less successful. Panna cotta with strawberry, add agate, and chocolate budino were very good as well. A bit noisy but a great local neighborhood kind of vibe. Large portions and very reasonable prices for La Jolla.
Yummy food, with great presentation. Solid wine options. Nice ambience, upscale without being too fancy. We were there as a group of girlfriends but I saw a date table and several families.
This was our first time here. WE loved it the food was incredible and the bottle of winw was perfect as well. we will be making this one of our "GO TO" places.
Excellent food and a great value. Our server was very helpful with our wine selection. The food was brought out timely and was delicious Just be aware that a table of six or more has added gratuity and they don’t do anything special for birthdays. Overall a very good meal! Will return.
Isola is my GO TO spot for the most authentic Italian pizza in San Diego. I absolutely love Isola!!! Both locations!! Great great food, delicious pizza and salads and pasta. I probably eat at Isola 4x a month and have since they came to San Diego. Just perfect...eveytime and a killer happy hour too.
Wow! What a great surprise it was to find this place. We love dining in the Village and Isola is an amazing addition to the area. You will not be disappointed here. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! The value is excellent and lots of great Italian wines to chose from. I will definitely be back!
The happy hour menu and pricing were great! It was our first time in though, and it is worth noting that happy hour is communal seating, first come first serve, even if you make a reservation. Not a huge deal but if your expecting to be able to have a nice conservation with your friend and are instead seated with a child having a tantrum or a huge overbearing group (we experienced both) it's a little difficult to focus on your conversations.
I'd definitely go back on the basis of food, I'd just tailor my expectations in terms of ambience.
Another perfect night.
