I usually don’t leave reviews but thought I needed too. This in no way reflects the wait staff. Our drinks were not very good. Way too strong to taste good and the food was mediocre at best.
Our overall experience for the week was great. We ordered pickup several times and was great. We are in the dining room twice. The 1st time was excellent. The 2nd visit however was incredibly disappointing. The girl serving us was extremely nice… not sure what the issue was…. Not enough staff or a disconnect with the kitchen… but we didn’t get our salads until after we were almost finished with our meal and a side dish wasn’t served until after the meal. We only got drinks one time until I mentioned all of the disappointing issues to the acting manager and we then only got drinks 1 more time. We had to wait an incredibly long time for our bill. I honestly expected some sort of offset on the bill due to all the issues I mentioned but no such adjustment was made. The food was excellent but the overall experience was disappointing that time.
We loved the lady who was singing. The food was delicious and the staff was awesome. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone staying at the resort. We ordered food for pick up several times as well and it was delicious. The manager Shawn was very accommodating as well. The servers and the chefs were awesome!
Absolutely delicious food and service!!! Highly would recommend.
Love the views, the wood fired oven cuisine including pizza, and different food offering from seafood to steak. Live music was also a plus. It wasn’t too loud for conversation at the table either.
Great views, good food and friendly service. It was a nice evening out.
This was mine and my wife's first visit at Island View to celebrate her birthday.I've worked in the Hospitality field for over 13 years and could tell right away that this restaurant was well managed by the ambiance and staff's attention to detail. Sean, the manager was very pleasant and made us feel welcomed. The view was spectacular and a live performer provided pleasant music. Our server was attentive and efficient. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp with the best guacamole I ever tasted. The clam chowder was creamy and delicious and the Cioppino and the salmon on the plank were outstanding.
Also,we would go back there just for the bread rolls! We are looking forward to our next visit there!
Not what I expected. Loud ambiance with mediocre food. Pasta is not fresh and chicken strips on top of the pasta dish tasted like they were just microwaved. Very disappointed.
Waiter was nice but slow, forgot things, messed up orders. It took 45 minutes after we were seated to get bread and our salads, regardless he was a nice young waiter.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner! Service was great. Good good and fun atmosphere
Food was no good, service was subpar
This was probably the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food was outstanding and the service was just incredible, everyone was super nice and really fast, I would say this was a 10 out of 10 me and my date really enjoyed the ocean view
The appetizers we great. The entrees were mediocre at best. Wine choices were very limited, so we ordered sangria, which tasted like watered down fruit punch.
What a great location to have a fantastic view of the Gulf of Mexico while having a drink at the bar or dinner at one of the tables with a Gulf view. Service is great as well as the entire staff.
Old, dirty and food was bad.
Paid $8.00 for a drink at the bar. Boosts best view of the Gulf. Back bar was so dirty and piled full of junk you couldn’t see out. Bad. All in all bad experience and won’t be returning.
We had a reservation and were seated right away but it took 20 minutes for someone to wait on us! Very very loud and the food was just mediocre
The best thing on the menu.. the breadrolls!!
Views are beautiful over looking the beach. The atmosphere is old and needs updates. Food was bland no flavor.
All of the food was delicious. The service was excellent. I will definitely come back next time I am in the area.
Food as not cooked, they credited me..
The view was nice. Sadly, the service was very disappointing. We waited 15 min before server came to table and then another 15 before we had our drinks. Food was good for some and mediocre for the other half. Always had to flag down waiter. They weren’t busy so not sure what the issue was.
The wait staff was attentive. Food was great! Music was loud.
Great view. Food is overpriced. Food quality is poor. Happy Hour is excellent. Air conditioning was great.
The restaurant was fantastic. The food was amazing as was the view and the service. We did not even realize there was going to be entertainment but it just added to the fun of the night. Our party of 10 was easily accommodated and our server was more than happy to take a picture of our group.
The service was extremely slow. Drink service was awful. A Fundamental lack of understanding on how to make a Martini or a Manhattan should have been our first clue. The waitress, while very pleasant, failed to return to our table with any frequency and failed to
Horrible experience wedding night planned for a month was excited for opportunity as a chef to try nice food on the island other then same old tourist fare . Order oysters Rockefeller and 2 lobster and fillet dinner one mid well ( wife's) oyster never came so sent food back to wait for the appatizer finally came out cold and then they just held our food u der the heat lamps so steaks was overcooked. Manager didn't even want to make it right just said we owed them nothing. So walked out hungry on wedding night and had a burger 🍔 thanks you island view.
Wonderful service, great food.. The woman
Who sang was absolutely amazing. We had the 2 for $30
Pasta night. Everything tasted great we will definitely be back.
Good food,somewhat slow service.
Food was okay, nothing exciting. Had grouper and shrimp in coconut sauce. Not very coconutty. Tried the green beans, sure didn’t taste like fresh beans,
View was great
Was a friday night. There was a singer at dinnertime that was a bit loud for our taste.
Took 20 minutes for the server to acknowledge us and ask for our drinks (there were only 3 tables in the place). It was a wasted evening with bad service and bad food. Spent over 2 hours. The table next to us had 4 bottles of wine and we couldn’t even get water. We would have loved to order more drinks since it was my birthday. We had to track down multiple people just to pay an expensive bill. Very disappointed and we will not be back ☹️
Great service ! Pasta was on point! Marinara, vodka and ariabata sauces were terrific! Steaks were also good.
Old times look to it and tacky atmosphere. The food was very tasty and the service was very good. Also, the view of the ocean was fabulous. Over all, we would go back again.
Good views of beach, food was good, generous portions.
Food was adequate, Live music was entertaining. Older crowd, 50s style ambiance.
Good food and the view was spectacular I would go back again
Our 39th Anniversary! Everything was just superb, Michael D’Amore singing was fantastic!
Picked the place off of ease of reservations and location of our hotel as well as the pictures of the food. The best thing about this restaurant are the views!!
The food was eh. The version of Picata sauce was “think” like Alfredo sauce. One fish dish was over cooked and very dry. Husbands “pesto” sauce was thick green topping over the chicken. We asked for a side of pasta instead of the rice which was served with the fish entrees. The waiter gave us a look, but didn’t explain that a side of pasta was practically a full portion until we commented at the end. We are not a family to send back food just a family not to return.
As an appetizer we ordered the grilled octopus, and were quite surprised how it was brought out. Liked more like sliced sausage, but soaking in oil.
Not sure if there regular chefs haven’t returned, but again didn’t expect the quality. The decor should be updated but that was a nonissue. Actually, brought back memories of growing up and sharing stories with our teens.
Overall, had nice family time, but would have been better off going to one of the local places in the beach
I had some mixed feelings about Lani Kai. On one hand, it's an older restaurant that (in my opinion) for a tourist is in an odd location at the top of an older "colorful" resort. It was recommended to me by a front desk service at the Pink Shell Resort and since I could make a same-day reservation for a party of 9, I took a risk and booked it via OpenTable. The atmosphere is very kitsch and old school, but I don't mean that in a negative way. My girlfriends and I enjoyed the Sinatra-Esque lounge singer in his shiny sequined blazer and our waitress, Myrtle, was very attentive to a party of 6 adults and 3 children all ordering multiple drinks, apps, salads, bread, and entrees. There's a HUGE menu, but 2 out of 9 of us had a plate they felt was really bland and not that great, but the rest of us were pleased. The Drunken Stuffed Chicken was enjoyed by me and many at the table who wanted a bite. The view is really great in that it is HIGH up so you can see way out over the ocean at the window booths. If you go into it with the understanding that you'll see chandeliers and decor that may catch you a little off guard for a "current" resturant, you'll enjoy the ambiance and have a good time singing along with some jazzy classics.
Seafood not fresh. Manager very nice. Food was awful.
