It was great!night
Loved the food and martinis
Would definitely would go back
The area outside the hotel was a little rundown so not a good first impression, and we just didn't care for the entrees we ordered. The bread was great, and so was the service. Very friendly waitress.
This place needs to come into the 21 century...dusty fake flowers all over plus curtains for no reason. If it was cleaned up it could be ok. Huge portions of food. Some good, some bad but the waitress was a doll.
This was the first time I was fooled by the 4.4 stars and the first time I’m writing a poor review.
Great food and view
Service was very good, food was outstanding, good prices.
Worst 2 hour experience ever. Waiter came to our table 3 times in the 2 hours we were there. Felt we were prisoners with no food or drink. So load we could not have a conversation with our friends. Finally food came ,besides having one meal missing the food was bad.
We felt the food was average at best. The service was not good. We arrived at 7:00pm which was just after a big rush evidently. We were a table of 6 and we noticed our waitress attending smaller tables around us but she ignored us much of the time. She also brought the wrong re-order of a drink. She also took an extremely long time to come with drinks and food while smaller tables around us that arrived shortly before or after us were long gone by the time we finally got our food. The noise in the restaurant was much too loud for a restaurant. You may think I say that because I’m older but we had our 4 kids ages 28 to 31 with us and they felt the same. It was live entertainment. Overall, I can’t say I’d recommend. Sorry we wanted to like it but it really fell short.
Live music was very loud and difficult to hear other table members due to this.
Band was loud but got tolerable when they left with the background taped music. cooking just like Momma's
The bottle of white wine I ordered was served warm and not chilled. Food was pretty good, but the service was not an upscale experience.
We were seated promptly, had an excellent view of the sunset and wait staff were very attentive. We loved the atmosphere and food was very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves the beach and good food
Half of my calamari was fresh, other half was waaaay too “chewy”.
Never received my mushrooms side dish.
Seafood was over cooked.
Upon entering noted that the restaurant was very neat, orderly and nicely decorated. Hostess was very pleasant and welcomed us and seated us in a booth with and excellent view. Waitress was terrific, although new had a pleasant nature and knew the menu and specialty items and provided prompt service. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend and eat here again and again. All items were price right.
Great happy hour specials. The view of the beach and gulf was amazing. The service was great and the food was delicious!
Went for my birthday (which we put on reservation) and nothing was done for it(a piece of cake, drink, something!) Oysters were great! Good appetizers. Daughter had chicken linguini and they drowned it in sauce. I had penne arabiatta which had good spice, but sauce was a bit too sweet. Service was so-so. I would try it again.
Food was delish. The lanai Kai resort is geared for a younger crowd but the island view rearaurant is up on the 6th floor and very quiet. Service was good and the view of the sunset is beautiful.
The crab cakes were a little under cooked but tasted fine. The lobster bisque would have been better out of a can, way too sweet. Ribeye steak was a pretty good cut but really not seasoned well as it was not that flavorful. The New York cheese cake was excellent for desert and the service was pretty good for New Years eve.
Went for New Year’s Eve. They had a fixed menu with four courses for $65. It was an extensive offering and delicious!
Had to pay $10 to park at hotel, hotel seemed like a lot of young people partying and drunk, elevator to get to restaurant on the sixth floor was broken.
Our first time to this lovely restaurant resulted in a wonderful dining experience. The food was plentiful and flavorful. Since it was Christmas Day, it was important that we find a nice eatery serving turkey or ham. Island View served both on one platter; enough to take leftovers home for sandwiches the next day! And their creamed cheese filled warm rolls are exquisite! Nice pianist playing gave the atmosphere a light romantic feeling.
I do have a suggestion for the web manager: the photos online do not show the romantic upscale atmosphere where we sat, under the soft fabric “canopies” with fabric "room" dividers and pearls draped over individual chandeliers. This was a huge and welcomed difference from what we expected (sitting at plain wood tables, as shown in the photo).
The early time and spaced apart seating made us feel comfortable. The views of the beach and the music soothing. The food is always a cut above. My steak cooked to perfection and the vegetable...asparagus were delicious. Also plenty of parking made for a pleasurable dining experience.
Great Christmas lunch with family. We had the Turkey/ham traditional dinner that was all amazing. One of our guests had a prime rib that was so good it was gone in a heartbeat, the rolls had cream cheese in them & were warm! Staff was attentive & kind. We will go back for one of their weekly specials.
The food and service terrific. Adriana our waitress was friendly and wonderful. she is an asset to your staff.
The food was very good.
Always a special treat going to the the Island Grill. Food, service, ambiance and view are outstanding!
The experiance was wonderful. The manager (Amanda) was awesome. She was funny and extremely inviting and made us feel at home. The piano player was quite talented. Our server was great. It is now our favorite restaurant to come to while on vacation. 2 👍👍up
Excellent Food, Great Service, Live Piano music. Will return on our next trip to Fort Myers Beach!
Island View is our favorite place to eat and for entertainment. We were there for Jazz night. Outstanding! Can't beat the view!
Step one, get hassled by weird nightclub style security staff upon pulling into tacky lani Kai resort. (I can only imagine what goes on here...)
Step two, take the tacky glass elevator to the 6th floor to take in the sunset from their amazing view.
Step three, be very disappointed upon arrival when they seat you far away from the few windows they have so no sunset for us.
It’s all a blur from here, but this is probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Food was alright, nothing to rave about.
Our server ignored us, never returned to remove empty plates or refill drinks. When our salads were brought out they forgot one persons, the server told us we were wrong, but soon realized her mistake and brought the salad.
My kid spilt a drink. Usually someone would come by and offer up some more napkins, maybe a replacement drink. Here? Absolutely nothing. I don’t even think they looked our way. It was bonkers.
I really had a bad feeling about the place when we pulled in and I apologized in advance to my party for what may transpire, whether it be bad food or poor service. Fortunately I think it was really only the service that failed today. Had it not been thanksgiving I probably would have left before we even ordered and went somewhere else.
When we had finished our meal and waited for at least 10 minutes for any follow up from anyone we concluded we weren’t getting desert. Tried to wave down our server who ignored every attempt to get her attention. My wife basically had to step in front of her to ask for a check, which was delivered 5 minutes later.
Waitress ripped the bill out from under the persons arm who was paying it and then got upset with a poor tip.
I don’t recommend island view at the lani Kai. This place is whack and they’re bankrolling on their subpar view and central location. Go anywhere except this place. Maybe a hurricane will come and wipe it off the map
We made a reservation in advance for 4 and wanted tall top. When they called to confirm I asked if we could have y’all top by water and they said yes they all were. We got there and they wanted to sit us at a table for 6 or 8 in the middle of the floor. I told her we had reservations and talk top water and she said sorry they were all taken but yet all the window booths were empty and the tall tops in the bsr were also open. She said sorry they had reservations. I would think you would seat the people who were there now we had to take the large round table and it ended up only 3 of us came and it was horrible sitting at that large table when in fact the whole time we were there all the window water view booths remained open. Horrible experience and we love lanai kai we come there every holiday. Food was awesome and service was ok , the girl had to go ask someone everything we asked her. I would always recommend lanai kai but this experience was really disappointing.
The Thanksgiving meal was great. The meat (turkey & ham) was perfectly cooked. The cocktails were delightful. The waitress was non-intrusive, yet perfectly attentive.
Having stuffing/dressing would have been a nice traditional component addition to the meal.
The view was great. The staff was kind.
We were quite satisfied.
My first time going and certainly won’t be my last.
The food was awesome, the view was absolutely beautiful, and my two kids loved the build your own pizza! I will definitely be coming back!
Service and Ambiance was nice. Food was lacking freshness. Fish was over seasoned and not edible. Crab Cakes tasted freezer burn and had the consistency of a veggie patty, very little crab. Ordered two glasses of champagne and they only had one each of the two types available. This is not an upscale restaurant.
Thank you for visiting our Island View and for taking the time to share your concern. We do apologize to hear you were not satisfied with some of your menu selections. Our restaurant just reopened that week after being closed through eight months of the pandemic, so our all-new staff was still getting the hang of our recipes and systems. We do hope you give us another chance as we continue to grow upon reopening, and thank you again for your visit.
