Unique to Austin, but inspired by the popular concept experienced at small cafes throughout Italy, intero features an artisan chocolate counter in it’s front space. A variety of truffles, barks, and sipping chocolates in classic and Italian flavors can be enjoyed along with our locally roasted coffee program. Intero also offers a curated wine list and an engaging yet approachable cocktail selection.

The food and drinks were honestly some of the best I’ve had in Austin. Highly recommend.
Everything we had was excellent! Can’t wait to go again. The restaurant got very busy by 8 PM I think I would possibly do a 6 PM reservation to have a more even flow of things coming out. But it was well worth the wait!
Such a wonderful experience all around. My husband and I were celebrating our first anniversary and were treated like VIP guests the entire time—a card when we arrived, a Prosecco toast. Our server and the entire front of house staff was friendly and professional. The food was outstanding—uniquely plated, seasonal, and delicious. Chocolates at the end were incredible and such a treat. Would go back many more times.
Such a fantastic dining experience. Unique and thoughtful food, service, and presentation.
Very high quality
Food was very good, very different than a typical Italian restaurant. Ambiance was ok. Fairly quiet.
Menu and wine list were not that extensive but all we tried was good. A little pricey but not too bad.
They do make their own chocolates and they were great!
All four of us enjoyed Intero quite a lot, including our two vegetarians. The charred cabbage on a piquant mustard sauce was a standout appetizer, and the smoked quail on a bed of polenta with a rich mushroom sauce was excellent. Nice wine list and excellent service, we look forward to going back.
I can definitely recommend the cabbage small plate and maybe the ricotta focaccia, but everything else was just ok. The carrot small plate was disappointing. The duck pasta was light and good. We had a group of four people and ordered a bit too much, and I can't even remember the rest of the pastas that we had ordered.
Unfortunately the dining area was really dark, without cell reception (maybe a good thing), without windows - could be considered quaint.
The food was delicious however set
Great service and attention to detail. Food was all spectacular! All around amazing experience!
Overall an enjoyable evening and would return. Appetizers and main courses were quite good. Unfortunately thought desserts were underwhelming and did not meet expectations, especially with owner having an apparently strong dessert background. Work to be done here.
Great service and great food
Great food and service. Arancini wonderful as was halibut
It’s all well thought out from the design elements inside and out to the ever changing seasonal menu of savory and sweets (chocolates!)
The food is excellently prepared. But be forewarned.... it is not traditional Italian food. Not the tomato sauce pasta or lasagna. But I say, let it go! The twists and advances in the food choices are so good. Be brave, try a new dish. The menu is inventive and satisfying. I recently had the halibut in a cream sauce that left me wanting to lick my plate.
I will say this... for the quality of the food, the surroundings are a bit underwhelming and can make the experience feel less special. The staff is friendly and informed.
The Chocolates alone are worth the trip!
Much more than a typical "neighborhood" restaurant in Austin's East Side, Intero consistently delivers exceptional food, including a smorgasbord of veggie-focused, superb apps and small plates, while maintaining a diverse selection of carnivorous options. Our party of four shared some apps and small plates, then shared a "shrimp sausage" entree and the "family-style" wagyu bee short rib, the latter a massive, Fred Flinstone-sized single rib with french fried onion strips, gorgonzola, jalapeño, and a nice sauce. The shrimp sausage had peppers and risotto and was both unique and excellent. "Short" wine list but well selected, and very good craft cocktails. Fun stuff!
The food was very good, but the service was a little disappointing. After we had finished our meal, the waiter came by and asked if we would like him to "tidy up". We weren't sure what he meant, but our thought was that he was asking if we wanted the remaining bits of our entrees boxed up. We said no. Apparently, that isn't what he meant and as such decided to leave us alone for quite some time. When he did come back, I mentioned to him that we didn't understand what he meant by "tidy up" -- his response was to "improve his vocabulary". He left the check and never returned. I finally had to walk it to the bar to pay because we got tired of waiting for him to return.
As I said above, the food itself was very good - the layout, ambiance, etc were all good. Just wish the service was a little better.
What a lovely place for a special night. Would love to try the Happy Hour some time.
Five of us went to Intero for the first time, we ate family style so were able to try several dishes. Really liked the atmosphere and the food and drinks felt authentic with great attention to detail. The chocolates were also amazing. We will certainly become regulars.
Quinn guides us through the delicious and visionary menu and there wasn’t one dish we weren’t amazed by! Don’t miss Tuesday’s half price wine night!
The service really put a damper on what was supposed to be a celebratory birthday meal. It took forever for a server to get to our table. We didn't get our cocktails until we'd nearly finished our small plates. We got our pasta course before the wine. We never got the coffee we ordered with dessert. The food was pretty good but not great. The bean dip didn't have much flavor and the corn risotto had way too much cheese and no corn flavor. The truffles and the amuse were the best parts of the meal.
Great table! Pasta was excellent. Also loved the truffles.
I loved this restaurant. Delicious food and the service was outstanding! The ambiance is very nice and cozy. My husband and I will be returning very soon. This is well worth the drive from Leander.
Food was amazing. Ask your server what they recommend and order accordingly. Also ask what the chef is excited about! Their wine list is a great one to do your own "tastings" off of. Eric is great at educating about their wines.
Lovely evening. Each dish was presented beautifully and the tastes amazing.
Received a recommendation from the staff at Odd Duck for Intero. Decided to try when Vespaio was booked and we are glad we did. The service was exceptional, food delicious and we really appreciated the homemade truffles for dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will schedule a return when in the Austin area again.
Great menu, great service! They care about the ingredients and it shows! The risotto was amazing!! Save room for the chocolates!!!
Every time we dine at Intero it hits a grand slam home run!
So many restaurants in Austin are beautiful and full of promise, but ultimately a disappointment. Not Intero! Absolutely stunning food and impeccable service, which was such a nice surprise. Each dish was thoughtfully layered with deep but delicate flavors. Our server (I wish I could remember his name because he was one of the best I’ve had in Austin!!) was attentive but not overbearing, gave excellent recommendations, and was incredibly knowledgeable about every detail on the menu. He was also just really fun to chat to!
Intero is a great date or special occasion spot, but the price point makes it somewhere I can return to again and again! Can not recommend Intero enough! <3
One of the best kept secrets in Austin. Celebrated our anniversary here - the service and food were exceptional.
Intero is our go to place particularly with out of town guests.
Good :) I choose not to lengthen this experience note .
The food was very good and interesting. The wine list was well chosen. We enjoyed it and would go back.
I was already thankful from the start because they still sat us even though we were late (Uber issues). Then the waiter was amazing and made sure we would be done in time for an event we had after dinner. And when I let the server know my dietary needs, the chef made a special vegan pasta dish for me. Everything was flawless from the ambience to service, and food was delicious. Perfect evening and will definitely be bringing friends and family here.
We had such a lovely dinner and we really enjoyed the service. We will be back!
Outstanding experience. From the amuse bouche of pecan puff pastry croquettes with duck liver mousse to the bruschetta with eggplant caponata, feta, smoked garlic and basil app and our surprise from the kitchen of roasted butternut squash with apples, raisins and a chili yogurt, the start of the meal was fabulous. For entrees, we had the roasted pumpkin tortellini with duck meatballs and ricotta salata, all with a to-die-for arugula puree sauce and the house made risotto with perfectly seared duck breast, wild mushrooms and pea shoots, both of which were excellent.
Then, our fantastic waiter, Lucas, surprised us with amazing house made chocolate truffles and we ordered a sasparillo flavored Amari (after dinner drink.)
From start to finish this was the best meal we've had in Austin recently and an experience we can't wait to repeat!
Innovative Italian. Not typical all pasta. Favorite new place to go to...
Great service from Will. Food was outstanding. Ambiance was fair, little bit bright on the lighting. Can’t wait to go back
This is going to be my top recommended restaurant in Austin. Not only were the gluten free options amazing but my fiancé said the pasta (not gluten free) was also amazing. Chef Ian was incredibly kind and greeted us at the door and checked in as we were finishing the best meal of our life. We end our favorite meal EVER with some of the House made chocolates and vanilla custard dessert. Simply amazing. Please go here, you’ll love it and the service and vibe will make you love it so much more!
My friend and I dined here on a Friday night for what ended up being an unhurried five hour experience. Intero has a great menu of apps, small plates
pastas and entrees, all great for sharing. Our food came out quickly and each dish was inventive and delicious. We especially enjoyed the shishito pepper appetizer and the pork entree. They even offer a gluten free pasta that was hard to discern from wheat pasta . Our waiter, Teddy, was personable, helpful, funny and just enhanced the entire experience. Great space in East Austin —we will definitely be back!
