Il Posto Ratings and Reviews
I took my friend to Il Posto on January 13 to celebrate her birthday. We had been to Il Posto before, at their old location. This new location is stunning! Modern but warm. You feel special just walking in the door. We loved the tall, private booths downstairs. They muffle the sound enough that you are able to actually hear your dinner partners when they talk to you. What a concept! We were greeted promptly by our server and each given a glass of sparkling rose to help us celebrate my friend's birthday. Nice touch! We started our meal with the Burrata. Wow! It was abundant and delicious. Then we each had the Zuppa and each of us tried one of the risottos. Finally we finished by sharing a beautiful apple tart. Throughout our dinner the service was flawless; with the servers quietly delivering food and removing dishes. It was such a positive experience, I will be back this weekend to celebrate my son's birthday!
We've been to this restaurant several times and although the food was good this time the service was absolutely horrible. Several times we felt they had forgotten we had even been seated. We were in a booth by the entrance and froze every time someone came in and out. Need to find away to seal the door so the cold doesn't come into the restaurant
Denver Meal #2: @ Il Posto Denver
This meal and dining experience was phenomenal. Pre-meal Italian Manhattan, perfectly paired wine with each course and friendly, fast, attentive service. The scallops were perfectly cooked and uniquely paired with butternut squash and sweet potato purée. Every dish was prepared and plated with care and their sommelier has curated a primo wine list. #denver #foodie #instagood #food #classiccocktail #scallops #solotravel #dinner #soloeats #foodquest
We arrived and had to wait because the table we were supposed to be sat at was still full with the previous party. They offered another table but we said we would wait. The sommelier came over while we were waiting and offered some free champagne because the table was not available for our reservation time. Once seated, the sommelier took us through the wine list and made a few suggestions. The waitress went down the menu and was helpful with the questions we had. The food was delicious, every plate was picked clean.
Food was phenomenal. Service was disturbingly poor. Noise level was horrible, and staff was ambivalent about it. I did not feel valued or welcomed as a patron. The original Il Posto was 5-Stars all around...the new location needs some serious work with service!
Fantastic Italian food with a twist, using the freshest ingredients. Excellent seafood, delicious pasta dishes. Everything here is delicious. Seating at cozy, private banquettes or tables on the mezzanine with a view over the dining room and the spectacular hand-blown Italian light fixtures. There's also a beautiful bar area. Service is friendly and welcoming. Five stars!
Hard to even think of a suggestion for how to improve our dining experience at Il Posto. It is one of our favorite downtown restaurants (even though it is technically RiNo) and we have never had a bad experience. While the noise level can be a bit high, our table of 4 had no difficulty with conversation.
The food, as always, was flavorful and presented beautifully. Rich flavors and generous portions were paced perfectly. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner but never felt rushed.
We started with a HUGE portion of burrata with aged balsamic and some thinly sliced prosciutto. Four of us could not eat it all, even though we gave it a shot! We each had pasta dishes, and to a person, we all raved about the rich flavors and presentation.
Max the sommelier made an excellent suggestion for a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with all of our dishes. He is so well versed in the different regions and the subtle flavors of the different wines that he adds so much to the dining experience. Our server Danielle was just the same. She gave us useful information on our meals, and made sure we never wanted for a thing, while at the same time did not hover or seem intrusive.
We had a birthday in the group, and we were presented with some tasty sweets with Prosecco at the end of the meal; the perfect ending for a perfect night out.
Wonderful experience! The two hours just melted away. Clearly a team environment that works. Fabulous food, the pappardelle was mom's recipe and it was sublime. The beef fat candle is a must have. The Sommelier, Max, was generous with his time and knowledge and chose an usual varietal wine for us that exceeded expectations, and told a great story. I couldn't help but notice every table had a bottle of wine, all different and likely paired well. Looking forward to coming back...among the best Italian food in Denver.
Being a fan of the old place, I am so disappointed in the new Il Posto. The charm is gone. It seems the restaurant was designed to attract the stampede of millennials who like this type of sterile and homogenous decor and loud boomy rooms. It’s just another uber modern, industrial feeling restaurant in the Rino district. There were four of us, all ordering something different and sharing our thoughts. The food was just mediocre, AND expensive. They should have called the restaurant something else because the new venue has little to do with the original Il Posto. No character, the menu tries to hard to be hip, yet it and doesn’t deliver. Another Denver gem succumbs to the herd mentality.
The food is to die for! And the service was exceptional. Benjamin, the sommelier, was delightful and even helped our server Brett all night. Staff is great! The risotto is amazing, could have eaten it all night long. Generous portion of bread with superb olive oil. Extensive wine list. Favorite spot in Denver now!
Who knew that Denver has this type of quality Italian cuisine! Funky vibe with great food and wine list. Sommelier was very informative and suggested just the right pairings. Can’t wait to go back to Denver just to have dinner again at this great restaurant!
New location for Il Posto after 11 years on 17th - what a great spot! Trendy but intimate, nice outdoor space which we plan on trying when the weather warms up. Great food and wine, very friendly and informed. Dined for my husband's birthday with our son - everyone enjoyed themselves - gave us complimentary champagne to toast! Will return.
Always love il Posto when it was on 17th. This was my first visit to the new location. The menu is similar; however, the vibe is completely different. it's brighter due to high ceilings and white walls. Probably just a personal preference, I prefer a more comfy, snug atmosphere. One set of tables are along a very white wall. The tables are fixed in place and a few are way to close together for comfort.
Don't know if it was an off night or if the kitchen has changed, but the food was good, not great like usual. I had the burata salad and the salmon. Both were fine, but not worth coming back for.
