We had an amazing brunch with a group of friends. Food was phenomenal, service was amazing. Great atmosphere, we sat outside and it was just lovely. Our waiter even gave us some lemón-cellos. Very happy with my experience here and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to have a relaxed Sunday brunch with some authentic Italian!
The blueberry and cream dessert is one of the best I have ever had in Austin.
Fantastic place to go. Great vibes, even had a jazz band outside when the sun went down. Went here without knowing anything about it and definitely will go back. The pizza was phenomenal.
Great tasting food, vegetarian options were amazing too. Phenomenal service and made my date feel special on her birthday. Thank you guys!
We had to go early due to schedule issues. We had Ford as a server and he was great from start to finish. He was great at explaining the menu and made it easy to decide what we wanted. We had the burrata for a starter, I had the beet salad (yum) and the pappardelle with lamb for the main course . It was a great experience.
Our waiter wasn’t that nice or helpful as it being many of our first times being there. He didn’t have any recommendations and stated that he rather not recommend us anything at all in case we “complained”.
Had the baby octopus, sea bass , lamb and the tiramisu, Nothing impressive about dinner. Seem average to me, try fav part was the dessert
polpi, pizze, e stizzichini era eccellente. La musica era troppo forte. Food was excellent, service great. Music drove us outside. So loud you can't talk to each other. Gives you the vibe they want you out of there fast. I recommend sitting outside if you can stand the heat.
My dad and brother in law were visiting, we wanted to treat them somewhere nice. We love il brutto, but the service wasn’t what we’ve come to expect on this particular evening (and it wasn’t busy). That said, the food and drinks were delicious!
Food was incredible, and our server was so sweet!
Really a family get together. Steve, our waiter was fantastic!
Great atmosphere and convenient location. Sitting at the counter (near pizza oven and charcuterie station) was very entertaining!
Il Brutto was such an amazing experience! The cocktails and food were great in their own right but the service is what made it so amazing. The waitress knew it was my girlfriend's birthday, and she brought over dessert and limoncello on the house. She was super friendly and made the evening even greater.
We always enjoy eating at Il Brutto. We especially like the lamb pappardelle and the limoncello, of course. I was especially taken by the exquisite flower arrangement from Bricolage. Il Brutto satisfies my hunger on so many levels.
Incredible food! 1st time visit and we were blown away by the food. In spite of our 1st choice bottle of wine not available, and 2nd choice bottle of wine being bad (fizzy and warm and we returned it and got a great 3rd bottle recommended by our server), I would rate this 4.5 stars due to just incredible food prepared like you get in Europe. We will be back....soon!
We enjoyed our food but the noise level was very high.
Disappointing experience. We were served bread which was fair And were promised more would be delivered. No more ever appeared. They listed gluten-free pasta, and since one of our party has celiac this was important, but only two of the pastas could be gluten-free. The beet salad had a minimal number of beets. The decor is appealing. Not worth the expense or the hype in my opinion
Brunch was excellent, sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation with the bartender.
They have the most amazing lasagna! Probably top 5 lasagnas in my life!
Solid place, good italian with some unique dishes and takes that make it a bit more modern. Appreciated the smaller portion sizes as you can leave the spot satisfied instead of stuffed as with most italian spots.
Overall great food. I loved the atmosphere and the ambiance of the restaurant. Great sweets as well.
It was AUSTIN restaurant week. We’d heard good things about Il Brutto and was happy to give it a try.
Everything about this place was amazing. The service was above and beyond, our server answered all of our many questions and helped us decide. She also constantly waited on us, refilling our water and wine for us even though the bottles for both were on our tables within reach. The food was delicious and traditional, and the whole establishment works hard to stick to Italian roots. The concrete tables and square bar were all beautiful with modern details. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, and we plan to go back for many, many more!
Can not recommend this place enough. My new favorite restaurant in Austin. 10/10.
Excellent food and service.
Jade was an outstanding wait person.
Very cordial, attentive, and knowledgeable
The squid ink pasta (advertised as being with clams and mussels) was a major disappointment. If you can't buy a clam or a mussel bigger than a dime, you should take that dish off the menu. The clams and mussels in the dish I was served were about the size of an Advil gelcap.
I went for Austin Restaurant Weeks. The deal was so sweet: 4 courses for $35. The wine and service are stellar. Alas my pasta was under cooked and chewy. The tiramisu pretty much saved the not-so-well-coked pasta. And the free limoncello was delightful.
We both got sick the next morning from the food.
Wonderful Italian food in a nice setting. The food was wonderful. We ate there firing restaurant week. The eggplant caponata was very flavorful. The lasagne was traditional with bechamel- not cheesy American version. It was very subtle with many layers of flavor. And the cacio de Pepe was cooked beautifully. Desserts are worth saving room for.
Great atmosphere. We went for Austin Restaurant Week and tried that menu only, but they didn't skimp on the food or service. Perfect portions, great flavor and I look forward to trying it again. Drinks were amazing!
We had a great time at Il Brutto during Austin's restaurant week. Amazing food, service, and drinks. Highly recommend!
Il Brutto was great - the decor, and friendly attentive staff plus the Restaurant Week special menu. We had a blast!
The place was beautiful! Food was ok. Burrata was to creamy not a lot of flavor, and my pasta wasn’t really well cooked
Amazing! Beautiful patio
Restaurant Week but we will be back!!
Went out on a date night and had a great time. We are authentic Italian fans and this place lived up to the hype yet had some local twists as well. Worth the visit!
Overall this is a cute date place. Amazing service and great cocktails. The appetizers were delicious, however the main pasta dishes were a 6.5/10. Nothing too unique about them unfortunately! Tiramisu was to die for though.
Birthday and retirement
5 stars says it all. Great by-the-glass wine list with all Italian regions represented. Small list of entrees perfectly done. Desert lovers will not be disappointed. Manager and staff- the best!
SUper slow service. At one point i sat waiting with an empty drink for 20min before a server came to check on us. ALso i ordered a 4 course meal and the wait time between courses were way too long. We sat with finished plates for long stretches.
The food was very good while the staff was amazing. Got there early for HH and was given a complimentary dish as a Thank You. I’ve been looking for a good Italian restaurant.
