House Without a Key
House Without A Key is a distinctive open air restaurant providing more casual fare and nightly Hawaiian music. It’s Halekulani’s gathering spot for informal meals and our signature Mai Tais.
Outstanding, as expected. Cocktails, food, service, music, hula, setting/environment…. Great experience! Loved it!
We had an absolutely outstanding experience at House Without a Key on Thursdays December 3, 2021. The staff was very helpful and efficient, the apps and drinks were amazing and the live band with hula dancer were great!
Great place to get some drinks and watch the beautiful sunset. Solid drinks, solid appetizers, amazing ambience, both the environment and music. Great date spot before you meander waikiki and get dinner.
A perfect night is sitting on the Halekulani lanai listening to beautiful voices singing Hawaiian music with a lovely hula dancer. The service was outstanding. Food and drinks were served in a timely manner. It started to rain just a bit, but very quickly the guests were handed umbrellas. The food and drinks are pricey, but we’ll worth the experience.
Beautiful location. Loved the relaxed setting with music and hula as the sun set.
The food was a disappointment. This was surprising because the previous Sunday the buffet breakfast at Orchids also at the Halekulani hotel was outstanding. The chilean Sea bass was essentially potato salad with bits of sea bass mixed in on a beautiful toasted cracker. The shrimp and lobster gyoza we're nothing special and bit over priced. The hamachi crudo was the best dish. The charcuterie was fine but it could have been enhanced with focaccia or sliced bread rather than crackers. The big draw is of course the sunset views and the live music was delightful. If I did this again I would have a few drinks and eat elsewhere after the sun sets.
The dining room dinner are not open. Expected to eat meal on tiny low patio table at outdoor bar. Should not have booked dinner. Very over priced.
The House without a Key holds special memories and it was so great to be able to be there after the re opening. Drinks, service and view are just wonderful!
Beautiful sunset backdrop to a great day.
A sophisticated yet unpretentious island treat. House Without A Key happy hour is a hidden gem to appreciate Hawaiian music & dance within a truly spectacular setting at Halekulani. The margarita pineapple & frito misto were much enjoyed. Highly recommend advanced reservations.
We were not aware that our 7:45 pm reservation would be cocktails and appetizers on the lawn only. We made the most of it, and the fries and cocktails were delicious, but wish we would have known it wouldn’t be dinner
Very elegant & Hawaiian ambiance
An amazing location & ambiance. Every aspect of our evening was wonderful.
Great experience! There was a show with these gentlemen playing music for the guests. It was amazing and I definitely let my friends know to visit! Would definitely come back!
Absolutely outstanding food, beverages and entertainment!
Beautiful location, excellent service. The Hawaiian music and the Mai Tais were the best! Highly recommend.
Exceptional food, service and experience! Beautiful hula performance and authentic Hawaiian musicians.
The location, ambiance and service are wonderful. We made dinner reservations but the problem was that the restaurant is closed. We went expecting dinner. They only serve drinks and about 5 small appetizers. I didn’t see that small detail on the open table description. I just saw the different menus etc.
Had wonderful drinks and appetizers there last night. Service is amazing, view is amazing, and they had complimentary entertainment. I would highly recommend regardless if you are staying at the Halekulani or not (but you should!!)
Loved the atmosphere and the sunset. Enjoyed the live music and hula dancer. Had drinks and appetizers. Got a total Hawaiian feel from this place.
Looking forward for opening of full dinner service!!
Excellent ambiance, live music, lovely Hula Performance.
It was beautiful! All of the drinks were delicious, the service was great, and the view was fantastic.
One of my most favorite outings here in Hawaii over the past 50 + years has been a night at House Without a Key. Our experience last night was just as wonderful as in previous years. The hapa hauoli music from Pua o Honua and her band with the lovely Miss Hawaii hula dancer brought back many happy memories. To be remembered for my birthday with song and cake in addition to the most beautiful sunset made it a night to remember.
Great experience. Will absolutely come back.
Most romantic night of vacation. There’s something magical about Hawaii, and everything about our experience at this place seemed to illuminate that magic.
Beautiful location for evening music and relaxing with some really good Mai tais. Secret is in their lime juice.
This place is so beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff was wonderful!
Beautiful scenery, gorgeous sunset. Live band was great as well. Drinks were delicious.
Came for drinks and small plates to watch the sunset and live music. The sunset view was unbelievable
House without a Key was incredible. We showed up remarkably early and they just walked us to an amazing table with a beautiful view. Cocktails were delicious and quick and the band was beautiful and friendly.
Great service and complimentary valet. So happy to see the hotel open again. It is still sharing a kitchen with Orchids right now but they should be fully operational again. Gorgeous sunset and you can’t beat the ambiance. Perfect setting for a casual evening with live music!
Excellent Covid era experience. Outdoors, distanced tables, masked service help.
Excellent musicians playing outstanding list of Hawaiian and Island related music.
Beautiful Hula. Sunset timing is a beautiful bonus!
House Without a Key is not open and should not be advertised as such. It is an extremely limited food and drink menu, the bar itself remains behind a construction wall and it is some chairs and very small tables placed on the lawn.
Great music, drinks and atmosphere
We had a phenomenal time at House without a Key and will definitely be back!! The live music and hula dance performance were highlights for us, along with the beautiful sunset and scenery. This is an oasis and sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki without actually being far away from it. The food and cocktails were delicious, and we were even pleasantly surprised by a generous treat for our anniversary.
After a lovely evening at House Without a Key, I can genuinely say I have no idea why any negative reviews were left by others in the past. Our high expectations were exceeded all around and the service was fantastic. No complaints. Mahalo!
Great music and view. Very poor drinks and our particular waiter was awful. The service from all the other waitstaff was excellent. The food looked great but stick to wine or beer.
Service was ok but frankly not friendly. When getting seated, we requested to move our seats a few inches to avoid looking in to the sun behind the performers. Waiter’s response was “everyone is looking in to the sun.” Another server realized that was not the appropriate response and moved our chairs. Charcuterie board was not imaginative and the savory meat was stiff and stale. Praying this is a pandemic re-opening rough patch
