House Without a Key
Excellent restaurant. A must if you're in Waikiki. Great tasting food and drinks. Excellent service. Beautiful view of sunset and Diamond Head. Great live Hawaiian music in evening.
Good hula dance.
I had a good time.
Thank you so much.
Nothing special about this place and food was not great quality. Was expecting much better.
Went to celebrate Valentine’s and our Anniversary. I had booked a 5pm reservation but we had to call because we would be late due to traffic. Arrived at 5:40. We had to wait about 5 min to be seated but unfortunately we weren’t seated in the main covered area where I had requested. Yes, we were late but it wasn’t crowded. Lots of seating still available in the area I requested. We were seated in the umbrella covered area to the left closest to the pool.
Our server Ian was very polite and service was very attentive as expected at Halekulani. Water always refilled. Bread basket of Taro Rolls & Lahvosh is always asked if you would like it refilled which doesn’t happen at most places.
Trio of poke, Hamachi Sashimi & calamari is always delicious! We both had the fresh catch which was island sea bass prepared with a lemon burBlanc sauce, brocollini and steamed rice. We didn’t have time to stay for dessert as we were headed to the Blue Note but Ian packed us up their famous coconut cake to go for our anniversary which was a nice touch of Halekulani.
We did enjoy ourselves but I was very disappointed in where we were seated. When the sun set, it got very dark. There is a little light that was basically useless. I looked at the tables around us and they seemed to have the same problem as us..... we couldn’t see our food.
We will be back again but I will never be subject to sit where we were seated. Again, I know we were late but there was lots of seating still available.
We were just there in January and was able o walk up without a reservation and have a nice table.
As you can see from the photos, by the time our main entree was served it was dark and hard to see. I had to brighten the photo so you could see it.
Ambiance was great, and primarily why we chose to go here for vday. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. $20 for four small coconut shrimps and $20 for 4 meh oysters. We wouldn't go here again.
The restaurant is nice. The hula and trio are nice. The service is good. The food is very meh for the price. The sword fish for example was really sad. My wife had the snapper and that was considerably better. When you approach 40 bucks a plate it had better be more than standard pub grub quality, and it wasn’t.
Long line to check in - was a bit off-putting; drinks were small; light bites/pupils were good
We have enjoyed this place since we were first introduced to it by some friends. Now we make a point to visit it whenever we come to Honolulu. The atmosphere is without parallel and the food is consistently excellent.
having visited Oahu many times it is the wonderful show the hotel puts on in house without a key that makes us return.the waiter was sloppy and non engaged. It is expensive but considering the entertainment it is special there is nowhere else to go...maybe they know that.
Somewhat sterile environment but quite and nice to sit outside with view. Service was fine. Prices very high for an average sandwich. If I would have paid 1/2 the price I would have been whelmed at best. Fish was fresh but meal pretty plain. Paying $25 for a basic fish sandwich and fries made me walk away underwhelmed for certain. NOT worth the price.
Three generation celebration and House Without a Key did not disappoint! The menu has something for everyone including the amazing coconut cake. The setting under the ancient tree with the combo playing was highlighted by the hula. What more could we want!
A very beautiful experience by the ocean ... $$$+
The staff was amazing and put us in a great spot close to the ocean and with a great view of diamond head. They made my parents feel really special on their anniversary and helped us with everything we had planned for the night!
Excellent service. All staff friendly and attentive. Food wonderful as usual.
Great restaurant with great music, food and drinks.
Every time I’m in Waikiki , I make sure I go there for lunch or dinner,
Fantastic experience. We brought friends from the mainland for the first trip they love the ambience and service was superb. We would expect great food and we were not disappointed
Good Place to watch sunset with beautiful music & dance.
The site makes the restaurant, on Wakiki beach at sunset. Lovely small group plays Hawaian music. Special evening for a special occassion
Magic! The food, the atmosphere and the brilliant service makes this a great option.
One of my favorite places to visit! Excellent service, food, music and ambiance! Love it!!
Our view of the live band was blocked by a large pillar. After making the reservation several days in advance and notifying the concierge that it was our anniversary, we would have hoped for better seating. We were told a better seat would not be available unless we waited another 30 minutes, moving our dinner up to 8:00 pm. No thanks. Also, the prime rib was well-done, not medium, as we had requested. Overall, good experience, but not for the price we paid.
The waiter was rather unfriendly, very unlike US standard and surely not in accordance with the Hawaiian spirit.
The food was good and there was a very delicious complimentary surprise birthday desert. The big advertised Hula show was mediocre, short with a lot of brakes.
Got the Ahi catch of the day. It was very bad. Definitely not fresh.
One of the most beautiful settings in Waikiki
Cool place to hang out at for sunset
Good food, large portions, friendly and attentive staff
Too bad the staff forgot it was my birthday, too embarrassed to tell them at the end, what could I do ?
Positively loved it. I was late for my reservation and the hostess excused my tardiness by telling me, "It's OK, you're on Hawaiian time AND it's your birthday, so you're allowed to be late." Then I waited for less than 15 minutes. Had my meal in another 15 minutes and done in 30. I mean, in and out all within an hour at a busy place is fantastic! And I had the Braised Short Ribs. Let me tell you, they must have beat that cow for a week! I never had meat so tender, I absolutely set the knife to the side. That poor cow must have been in tears.😂 The staff was nothing but courteous, the atmosphere was joyful, the scenery was breathtaking. One main course meal plate, some bread, a Blue Hawaii drink and 1 small cheesecake and I was stuffed! Worth every penny! Mahalo!!
Beautiful setting, attentive and friendly service. Food was done to order and was high quality and well presented.
Planning on dining at Halekulani again.
