About Hapa Sushi Grill & Sake Bar - Cherry Creek
The name Hapa is derived from the Hawaiian term that describes a harmonious blend of Asian and American cultures. Like our name, our food reflects this dynamic combination. The menu is based on traditional Japanese cooking fundamentals which are then amplified, muted, or mixed with influences from many different styles of cooking until they are something completely new: they're Hapa. We have stretched the boundaries of creativity to develop dishes that defy all the rules while holding true to our roots. We hope you will find our menu innovative, uninhibited, and distinctly fun! Incomplete parties will not be sat until complete.

Hapa Sushi Grill & Sake Bar - Cherry Creek Ratings and Reviews
Not all members of our family like sushi, so this is a great place to go when we get the off chance; Open Table is great for last minute reservations here. The sushi is great here and even though one of the rice side wasn’t on the menu anymore, our server was able to get them to make it for us! We truly appreciate the great service.
If you’re going for a birthday, you’d love this place. Food, music and ambiance is really hard to find and this place I’ve visited more than a couple of times whether it is for a date, friends or family; birthdays and etc, it’s just overall a great place to be and the food is GREAT! We have had Christian and Courtney who have stand out to my partner and I and I would suggest you ask for them and tip them very well. They’re all totally worth it!
The waitress started by asking if we wanted anything to drink, we asked do you have a drink list with special martini's, her response was No we don't. After receiving the menu's we noticed that they have a whole list of specialty drinks, including martinis. After that we found the food to be good and the service to be less than attentive. The ambiance is lacking, but if you're just looking to have some sushi, I would consider the food to be good.
We have lived in Washington Park
For two years and this was our first visit. I was in search of a sushi restaurant havibg high reviews for date night. We were not disappointed in the least. The sushimi was fantastic! Try the tuna or hamachi. We shared a seaweed salad and cucumber salad which was delicious and fresh. In addition, a speciality roll as well but was nothing to rave about.
We enjoyed a great bottle of Negri Sake.
Kevin our sushi chef did a great job and Joe our server was friendly, attentive, providing great service. We will definitely be back.
Exotic maki rolls with excellent flavors. Kyle, our server, was quite friendly and courteous; and the menu is intriguing: Hard to make choices, unless your taste-buds are not adventurous. We started with the fantastic Kalua Pork Peking Wraps, which are like Peking Duck wraps (Thin pancakes, hoisin sauce, etc...Wow!!) And then, we tried two simple maki rolls (Shrimp tempura and Spider rolls), that were really, really good, and the Surf and Turf roll that is more exotic: Lobster tempura, asparagus and Wagyu beef with a great sauce...YUMMY!!!
Gotta go back for more!!
The service was very good--attentive and helpful with selections for my nine year old who was enthusiastic and open minded about trying many kinds of sushi (he loved the octopus the best--go figure).
However, it seems that Hapa's emphasis on rolls (they don't even have a nigiri section on the menu--just a plethora of rolls, often with strong sauces, and a small sashimi section) disguises that the quality of the fish seems to have gone down noticeably. We had mostly sashimi, and it really didn't seem very fresh. This was true across almost all varieties of fish--maguro, yellowtail, albacore, mackerel. Only the salmon and whitefish seemed of the freshness I would expect from a good sushi restaurant. It was enough of a cautionary tale that this probably removes Hapa from my list of go-to sushi restaurants. There are plenty of fish in the sea, after all.
Our waiter was incredible (really tall younger gentleman)! Great service, kid friendly and with two kids gluten free, it was great they had a separate GF menu. Had a great time all said. Only neutral comment is the sushi is just okay.
Overall really good experience, I'm more into the smaller more mom & pop kind sushi shops but I enjoyed myself here. The veggie gyoza was delicious & also the vegetable roll made me smile. They give you a kind of order it yourself menu with all your menus when they seat you, but you don't really use it. My boyfriend really liked his climax roll.
Have been there before and sushi always been great, but went there this time especially because of the gluten-free menu for friend, and it matched the regular fare. Even had soy sauce replacement. Only thing was that wasn't sure about the wasabi, but didn't ask either. Needs to be real thing with no fillers, which you often get in some places. So, definitely would recommend Hapa for your gluten-sensitive friends. Great food. Waiter was on top of what was needed.
I frequent Hapa for happy hour often. Today, we visited the Cherry Creek location.. proved ok. Sat outside and had the orange umbrellas over us.. made the space dark, since no sun hit the area, anyway. I recommend closing them, if possible, when it isn't super hot or sunny. New menu was interesting - I like that more items are on happy hour but disappointed in the 90 cent increase for regular rolls. Celebrated a birthday; appreciate the free cake.
I love Hapa but normally go to the Downtown location. We went to Cherry Creek for my husbands birthday and our waiter was awful! We waited for our check for over a half hour. He made eye contact with us several times and chose not to come over. I would have been perfectly fine if he had acknowledged us more than once the whole night or apologized for the lack of service. We were wanting to order dessert, but by the time he came over we just wanted our check and to go home. We had over a roll of sushi left and he grabbed the plate and started to put trash on it. He never asked if we wanted a box. I had to tell him to stop and box it up. The food was great but our service was horrible. It's too bad this had to happen on my husband's birthday celebration. Ruined our good moods and altered our plans for the night since we waiting so long to pay the bill.
Walked in and almost walked into the host booth it was so close. Super small, really crowded, nothing like the pictures. Got sat at a table which was about 3 feet from the table next to us. Literally could have held the people next to me hand. Sat down and got soy sauce poured all over my table..Went for a valentines date and good thing I have an awesome girlfriend or it would have been a complete failure due to the environment and food. This place is a lie.
