This restaurant was clearly designed to be Instagram-worthy, and it meets the mark on that front. The place is quite pretty, though the seating wasn't particularly comfortable. And since I'm someone who likes to linger over a meal and conversation, that matters to me. The service very friendly and attentive - a little too attentive at times, but I'll take that over being ignored any day. Complimentary valet was a nice touch, though I didn't like that it was also mandatory - I didn't have the option to self-park in their lot. Overall though, ambience, decor, and service were all quite good. Unfortunately, the same care wasn't put into the food.

The food...was fine. And in a town with so much great Mexican and Tex-Mex food, if you're going to charge Grizzelda's prices for your food, then it had better be mind-blowing. And this was nowhere close. The tortillas were slightly dry and had minimal flavor, which made me so sad. The queso fundido was oily and watery. (Yes, I know that's a tough dish to nail texture-wise, but again, see note above re: prices vs. quality of food.) The ceviche was just ok. I thought the tomato sauce it was bathed in was too sweet and overpowered the seafood. The fish that came w/ the fish tacos was lovely - probably my favorite dish of the night, but the bar wasn't high. The use of Jacoby's meat was a nice touch but honestly wasted on fajitas, where all the toppings, etc. would have covered up the incredible flavor and texture of the meat. So I ate the delicious steak by itself and cobbled some veggie fajitas together to fill me up. For dessert, we tried the tres leches bite and the dulce de leche ice cream. Both were fine, but nothing to write home about. Though I did love the idea of a two-bite dessert that was priced accordingly. Overall, portion sizes were small given the prices and the quality of the food, particularly for the entrees. As wonderful as the people were, I don't recommend this place and won't be back.

Love this place—food and drinks are always amazing and service is excellent! Aubrey was wonderful, she even staggered out our apps so we could enjoy each item hot and fresh.

Great experience, food and service. Group of 10 and we had to divide up our bill which is always an inconvenience and should be the responsibility of the restaurant.

Everything was great! We ordered off the Happy Hour menu, but one of our meals was charged full price so they had to correct the price! The fajitas were yummy! Will go back!

I love this place! I’m not sure why all the negative reviews I see from others however I come here once a week now. It’s truly a great place!

I prefer to sit at the bar where both Jason & Corey sling some great house originals. I’ll admit their company is why we come back week after week. 😃

Happy Hour is the best time to stop by or perhaps on Thursday when they have $20 Chicken Fajitas - these are honestly enough for two and authentic (not another Chili’s smoking tray).

Go with their recommendations and you can’t go wrong. I’ll see you there! 😊

Fish tacos were good, but for $25 they should have been amazing and they weren’t. Tried two different margaritas and neither were very good. For $12+ they need to be fantastic. Service was efficient and prompt. There was a group of six obnoxious young women dining next to us that just made want to leave as soon as possible. Not a good experience and horrible value.

We are always up to trying new places in and around Austin. We had eaten at Jacoby’s which is their sister restaurant and were very pleased with it. Grizzelda’s I feel like is trying figure what type of restaurant it is. Its trying to be hipster Mexican food place which I guess fits Austin. If you are looking for real Mexican food this place isn’t for you. The mark up on the food is ridiculously high. $24 for tacos is ok if the tacos are great! These tacos were not. The “homemade” tortillas were stale and did not hold up well. I guess what really threw me off was when I asked for more hot sauce for my tacos, they charged me for it. Come on man... A staple at any Mexican restaurant is complimentary chips and salsa, at least the first basket, not here. Be prepared to pay for it. The music was some what funny. While we there, we heard N’Sync then Cardi B a few songs later. Again I feel like this place is a confused teenage trying to find their way in high school.

I never write reviews but this experience calls for one. This was my THIRD time giving this restaurant a whirl. I had been so disappointed before but a friend was in town and this is the one he picked out of my offering of 5 nearby restaurants. We were able to sit out on the patio as it was a lovely Fall evening. Ironically, there were 3 bachelorette dinners taking place. That led to a roadblock for the Unisex restrooms. We started off a grizz mizz cocktail, it was tasty, nothing stellar. We moved to a spicy rita. That's just it, it was spicy. The "kick" took away from the cocktail -- you didn't taste the drink any longer, just the spice. We begin our dining with queso. Wow, sooooooooo lackluster!! I would rather have queso from any ole' dive over this. We moved on to split the fajitas, rice, brussels. Meh. All of it - just ok, nothing outstanding whatsoever. And again, I'm blown away at the prices of this "meal". With tip, all of the above was $158. I'm a borderline Foodie and never flinch at spending $$ for a stellar meal... but NONE of this meal was worthy! Maybe try a cheap happy hour there at best and call it a day!

Grizzelda's is a great choice when you want a lively, happening place for fantastic Tex-Mex. Their cocktails are incredible- if you like mescal, I highly recommend the Bad Girl Ri Ri! Prices are a bit high considering all the tasty Mexican food available in Austin, but I keep coming back because the service and atmosphere make it worthwhile! And everything I've ordered has been excellent!

I rarely write a review.
Grizzelda’s deserved this one, it was wonderful!
Our server was great at suggesting cocktails and dishes we may like. Her recommendations were all yummy.
There were 3 of us. We had a variety of apps, ceviche, queso with beef, and guacamole. All very, very good.
For dinner we had Chili relleno, steak fajitas and pork tacos. All delicious!! This is a find not to be overlooked.
Close to airport hotels. A nice, pleasantly surprising find rather than dining downtown. Highly recommend-we’re already talking about returning soon.

The restaurant is nice and our waiter was great. The beef fajitas were very chewy and flavor was just average. I can get tender, more flavorful fajitas elsewhere for less. This was the most expensive dish on the menu. Our churros were over cooked and this was after the waiter sent the first ones back.

Very good service from experienced servers. Tasty cocktails and frozen margaritas. Flavorful beef tacos with super delicious flour and corn tortillas and creamy, yummy house made dulce de leche ice cream at the end. The outdoor seating area is really nice, too. Loved the ambiance. It’s a pricey evening, so I’ll try the weekday happy hour next time. Great night out, though, if you’re not on a budget.

Loved everything about it. However they placed nearly all diners on the patio before seating people inside. When my party left, the inside was empty with the exception of two tables. They excused themselves by saying that people had reservations inside and outside was the only available. They would not even let us get a drink at the bar ahead of our reservation. Given the number of great choices for food, it surprises me that a restaurant would treat guests like this. I don't blame the staff. It's management who makes up policies like this. If you are short on staffing that evening, just say so. Otherwise put the guests first.

Beautiful restaurant, good drinks and the ceviche was excellent. Beef “fajitas” were really a sliced New York strip with fajita sides. That made it a little hard to eat in the fajita style but flavor was good for steak. Expensive for what you get but overall just good.

Manager was very rude. Our reservation was for 6:30 and they had another party coming in at 8 which they told us when we got there. They were rushing us to order our food the entire time to get us in and out. At 7:50 they told us again they have a party coming at 8 and started pulling up the extra tables to our table for the next party while we were still sitting there and started setting up our table for the next people. It was very rushed and rude. Food and drinks and atmosphere are very cute though.
