   A shadow of its former self and at prices that aren't far off its upmarket friend Wiltons. Greens desperately needs a refurb and it's whole offering needs a rethink. For a St James traditional restaurant are there any British staff still left?

   The interior (dark wood panelling, dark red and green fabric, booths with leather covered sets and bar) is very old school in the best sense of the word. The service is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very nice (cod roe and beet root, a steak for main ) and adjusted to my food intolerances. Overall really nice - but the place has a strong 'older men eating/ drinking together, discussing 'business', expensing the bill' vibe.

   We visited Green's several times in the past and looked forward to an elegantly prepared and served dinner again. Sadly not this time. The service was uneven and shabby. The waitress forgot my husband's first course. He ordered partridge and it was tough, tough. My Dover sole was very ordinary. The whole place needs rethinking, upgrading and, considering the prices, a very good chef. We won't go back until we hear some very good reviews.

   I have been eating at this St. James's restaurant for several decades. It was as welcoming and as good on my last visit as it was the first. Thank goodness Greens goes on doing with it does best, serving great food, excellent service in a delightful setting.

   Food was excellent and service a little too attentive, but sadly the restaurant was empty probably more of a lunch venue and probably could do with a refit especially the toilets

    Classic British venue which seems to have got its act back together. Ask for a booth for better discretion. Definite emphasis on fish, but not exclusively so. Fine, broad-ranging wine list with decent options at all price levels. Yes, the whole thing is a bit clubby, but in a positive way and the experience is remarkably unstuffy. We all thoroughly enjoyed an excellent dinner, with proper white burgundy throughout and escaped at under £ 100 a head.
