Brunch with Great Maple this Easter Sunday!
Sunday, April 21, 2019
We ordered 2 salads and French fries in an almost empty restaurant and it took 45 mins. Bummer bc we had to rush to get to a show.
Great service! Food was amazing. The atmosphere was great~ we will be back!
Food was not good at all, service was excellent though
Great food, excellent service too. The outdoor space was comfortable, but extremely loud for a family brunch. I’ll try dining inside next time.
I like this restaurant, we’ve been to the one in Irvine & in San Diego. Went to the La Jolla one for Sunday lunch & the noise level was deafening! Had other friends tell me the same thing. Will not be returning unless it’s off hrs!
Food was excellent but the portions are very large
I know they are known for their donuts, but I was honestly so amazed by their hummus. It was the best hummus that my family ever had. Their drinks were great. Will definitely revisit when I am back in San Diego!
I've always enjoyed their Washington Street location, so I was pleasantly surprised to visit their new place at UTC. Similar trendy furnishings, fun cocktails and delicious food. Gotta love those maple bacon donuts! Service was fantastic. The noise level is more mellow at the UTC location. Everyone in our party, aged 12 to 74, really enjoyed the experience!
Excellent service. Creative and imaginative menu. One of my favorite restaurants
Great dining experience
Very slow service, the portabella fries and Brie grilled cheese appetizers were good. From there it slid down fast. The ribs and fried chicken and donuts were less than stellar both lacked flavor and came to the table dry. The mac and cheese was good. The service has no urgency
Everything about Great Maple was FANTASTIC! The food, service, and ambiance was AWESOME! A great place to take your spouse, family, and friends.
We had their maple bacon donuts and a seasonal mint chocolate chip one as an appetizer. The group ordered a couple different scrambles, chicken and waffles, eggs benedict, and french toast logs. Everything was great, especially the french toast logs! The lattes could definitely use some work, they are average and not well prepared. The service was disappointing. We spent several minutes speaking with our server about moving us away from the heat lamps as it was very hot. He insisted they couldn't do anything. Our second server (halfway through the meal) instantly offered to turn them off. Sweating for half your meal is not fun!
I've dined at both the Great Maple's in San Diego and they are always a delight for the creative food offerings, ambiance and service. If you have not dined at the Hillcrest or UTC restaurant - hurry!
We went there for my Mom’s birthday brunch. We were seated around 9:45am and we waited over 90 mins for our food to arrive. They were apologetic but they kept telling us our meal was almost ready pretty much every half hour and then nothing came. They ended up comping my moms meal and sent donuts to the table but only after we said something to the manager. Will not be returning.
The inside is beautiful and trendy! Definitely a fun spot to go, but the food was subpar. I would go again and order something else but the pancakes were gummy and the chilaquiles underwhelming.
Great place to take your spouse or significant other for dinner. The ambiance, food, and service was spectacular!
Food was excellent, very large portions. Would definitely be back again.
Waited 45 minutes after ordering appetizers (deviled eggs and hummus) and nothing arrived. Was told by waiter that there “was a large party that was keeping kitchen busy.” Restaurant was only two-thirds full, so we didn’t buy that excuse. We got up and left. Not going back anytime soon. Lame service and excuse.
We loved it. Everyone was warm and friendly. Can’t wait to go back.
I've been to Grrat Maple UTC four times since they've opened. I'm is becoming my go-to place in San Diego to take out of town guests. My mom's review: probably the best breakfast I've ever had. We are a family of foodies so this praise doesn't come lightly.
What a disappointment! I love the Hillcrest location so I was excited to try this new location and it was a total bust. I had a reservation at 12:30 and was seated late. I ordered the pickle Bloody Mary as the description said there was a huge pickle in it- but it was just the end cut off of what would have been a huge pickle. I ordered a coffee and water which was never filled and was completely empty for half my meal until I flagged down a busboy to refill it. I was so excited about my eggs Benedict until it arrived and was just luke warm and one yolk was runny and the other one was completely hard. How do you mess up two eggs in one dish? I would have sent it back but we had movie tickets for 1:40 and didn’t have time to wait for the food to be cooked again. As for my husband- he ordered a beer and 15 min later they came to tell him they were out and asked if he wanted something else. $65 for this crappy experience? Save your money and go somewhere else.
The food was good - if a bit pricey. This place was hard to find though! It's on street level INSIDE the parking structure, and only connected to the mall by a single staircase that looked like it was a service entrance more than anything else!
Maple Bacon Donuts are TO DIE for. Get them. You won't regret it.
Food was delicious and our server was fantastic! The ambience was dampened by having the table next to us talk quite loudly and obnoxiously. It didn’t feel very private.
Same great food and the staples from the original Great Maple. Maple bacon donuts , French toast, and those Fried Chicken!
The food was fantastic. Quite large portions!
The food was delicious, the only disappointment was that the chili rim of the margarita did not go all the way around which is just not acceptable for me.
Only drawback was the price. Food and atmosphere were amazing
Great vibe. Had a reserved table but instead ate at the bar. Wonderful service. The fried chicken and donuts so deliciously interesting.
We wanted fried chicken for dinner on Valentine’s Day!! Able to get a reservation and have bottle of champagne with delicious fried chicken. Fun, delicious, adventurous comfort food.
We went for the famous chicken and maple doughnuts. It took 45 minutes to get out order. The chicken was over cooked, tasted burnt, and was dry. Doughnuts, nothing special. I tried the lobster bene, which was bland, and fishy. French toast logs where also over done. We asked for extra butter which never arrived. Stay home or go elsewhere.
The best word I can use to describe my dinner experience was disappointing. The spicy chicken sandwhich was dry. It also tasted like it was cooked in old oil. Our salad was nothing special. The table shared devil eggs which were very good.
I was a huge fan of the original restaurant in Hillcrest.
Oddly, I did have breakfast there 2 days prior and everthing was amazing. Perhaps it was an off night or dinner isnt thir thing.
Too loud!!!! You need some softer surfaces to absorb the noise!!
The food was excellent and the our server was attentive and awesome. We love going to GM for brunch and it did not disappoint. Thanks for making it so easy to make reservations
The food was just ok but the service was very pleasant. Really dead in there for a Friday night.
Food was great, everything else was disappointing. The San Diego location is amazing which is what were hoping for at the La Jolla location.
Our server was amazing!!
Came in on a slow, rainy Friday - late morning, for Brunch. Had a reservation with a table request for the covered patio. Hostess seemed unaware of reservation and request. Waited 12 minutes for our server to take our drink order - he was rude from start to finish. He never brought sweetener for our coffee, even after repeated requests. Forgot to bring a bag for our boxed food, again after a few requests - a coworker heard us ask and he brought them out and apologized. Our server also seemed to have no knowledge of the menu because he “doesn’t eat pork”. The rude server and the over abundance of horseradish in the house Bloody Mary made for a bitter experience. Would recommend the Hillcrest location anytime, many good visits at that location.
The food and service were fantastic. Must have the maple beacon doughnuts.
