I waited 45 minutes for my meal. I ordered the french dip and it was very fatty. They were short staffed but not crowded. Not worth the wait.
Our waiter was great! He was able to accommodate our requests without rushing. Our first table seemed a last minute add-on, in the middle of the way and improvised chairs, very windy spot, but we were able to be moved to a more quiet table and everything went well.
First time for dinner, new set up in La Jolla! Service was excellent! We all tried something different and all was delicious! The Rosé w the sour straw was yummy! Definitely will come back
The outdoor seating can be a bit too noisy, not just from the current street construction but from the traffic as it's a busy street. Perhaps the glass windows could go all the way up to the ceiling to isolate the noise from the busy street. Other than that, I loved the experience!
Food was great. Our server was terrible. We asked for decaf tea and he said that yoit did not offer any. After looking in the menu we had to point out that you do carry caffeine free tea. And when we paid the bill we wanted to split it. He took all of our payments and just charged 1 credit card instead of splitting it. And he brought it back just saying sorry and didn’t try to fix it.
Food was well prepared and tasty, but our party found the portion sizes to be on the small size. The pricing was high in comparison with the food served. Cocktails were innovative, but from a cost perspective, it is optimal to order during happy hour. The location is extremely challenging to find even if parked in the structure immediately above. what limited signage there is confusing. The ambience of the partly outside area is subject to an excessive amount of traffic noise and in addition, despite dining at 7pm and later on a Saturday, there was additional noise from the construction crews working all night on the new trolley line. Add to that a couple of noisy, talkative groups at tables on the patio and the member of our party had to yell at each other to be heard.
Not the same as the Washington street location. Menu is limited, and the food is average at best. Started with the donuts, but someone messed up the dough, because it was more maple bacon bagels than donuts. Two of us ordered the breakfast smash. But the potatoes not only weren’t smashed, but they weren’t crispy at all. I got the traditional popover Benedict, but one egg was over cooked with a solid yolk and the other was raw with runny whites. Missy provided excellent service but not enough to bring me back. If I ever crave Great Maple, I’ll make the trip to the original location.
Business 101. Location! (Hopefully just) dust falling in our food & drink as construction going on we thought... hoped??? Service was good! Young lady was ready to help with serving a good brunch. While Eating, what should I look at? Parking garage? Traffic passing by? Trolly? Do you know how much dust/smut comes off trolleys? French dip overly spiced. Suggest horseradish sauce on side. Only restaurant i know assumes everyone uses it. Chick & donuts couldn't finish & threw out. TOO dense, cold and hardened!!! Watermelon cocktail was left nearly full. Long story short, we live on the block, need puppy friendly place, need place we can go both every Sat & Sun, need an option or place to take us away from Snooze, Richard Walkers, Shores Restaurant, Restaurant on Lemont. We REALLY like the sound of your menu. Just not sure about Dry doughnuts with chicken covered in dust (soon to be trolly dust) breakfast.
EggsBenedict were very good, as usual:) But their famous maple bacon doughnuts were very dry,not at all as usual :(
Probably cause they were very busy=Saturday Brunch
Restaurant is excellent. Parking and getting to the restaurant is a nightmare.
Poor customer service.
One of my coworkers asked for a salad with dressing on a side (twice) and never got it. Had to eat her salad completely dry. And believe me, it was one of those very "dry salads." She looked so disappointed.
They rarely checked on us and it was not that great overall.
I love the popovers on the eggs benedict and the beignets with the lemon curd dip.
Poor access and signage !! Enjoyed meal - it was pretty empty so quiet which we need . Nice tapas and salads huge ! Great server
Great service and food was as good as always. It’s always one of her favorite restaurants at the UTC mall
Came for dinner Saturday night with family, took over an hour to get dinner and mine was cold, it felt hard like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a-Long time. My daughters steak was well done, she had ordered medium. No waiters and if we saw them they looked away. My daughters boyfriend had to go and refill his own drinks. Non-existent wait staff. They offered us a free desert but didn't take them up on it as it would have taken another hour to get it. They were apologetic but they ruined our plans and the food was bad, oh, they made me another dinner but by the time it arrived we had to leave as we had another reservation to meet up with friends. Save your money, go somewhere where they have their act together.
Considering the restaurant was half full at best, out service was poor. Service kept forgetting to refill water, forgot to bring plates for appetizers, etc. Food was flavorless and the menu pretty small. Had brunch at their Hillcrest location and had a much better experience. Oh yeah, and it took a us 20 minutes to find it in the mall because there aren’t any signs for it anywhere in the garage or mall!
The signature old fashioned was way too sweet and food was just ok. The burger had no flavor without the toppings and for others in my party, no gluten free options at all. Just very average food and bad ambiance - outdoor patio is 10 feet from super busy Genesee so you're listening to cars speeding by. The inside room is very bright. Neither are great options. Sorry guys - just average and much better options in the UTC space.
The restaurant was nice and our waiter was attentive and recommended some great dishes. My husband tried the fried chicken and doughnuts. Delicious!!
Got a good table this visit, airy and lots of space for our infant’s stroller and high chair. My brother visiting from out of town loved the mac n’ cheese and good portions! Our go-to are the chicken and donuts! Never disappoints! My wife like the toast duo! Give them a try!
There is no access to the restaurant from the parking structure. Need to walk out and onto the street and around the building to enter the restaurant from the street. The noise level is deafening due to military jets flying overhead. Service was pleasant but very slow. We ordered one of their signature donuts and waited over 20 minutes for it to be served(bacon maple).
Our food took awhile to come. Server not too attentive to our needs. No rounding
Love the food especially the doughnuts & chicken, would come and dine again, our server was great and always had a sweet smile, very attentive and was always available when needed, felt very welcomed, manager even came by to check and see how were doing.
I have been to Great Maple many times and this was my second trip to this new location. We came this time for the dinner menu. We normally come for brunch. We figured we would try for restaurant week considering the food and service was always great. Why not try a new menu for a bit of a discount. Well this is one of a very few menus that don’t offer a third course. Not a deal breaker. As we looked at the menu which was $30 for 2 courses, it was cheaper to purchase items separately than it was to purchase them as the “restaurant week”priced menu. The only item that was priced as a deal was the salmon. There were several combinations on the menu that were 6 dollars more for the special menu and the portion sizes were the same.
So we decided to order off the regular menu. you were completely sold out of Turkey Bolognese which was poor planning on the restaurant’s part. Our reservation was at 5pm. There was practically no one in the restaurant and this dish was a main item on the menu.
All in all the food we had was very bland with no flavor. The hamburgers that were ordered medium were dry.
Very disappointed with the dinner menu. I will give it one more shot. But this place seriously needs to step it up if you continue charging this pricing and producing mediocre food.
There were a lot of bugs flying around inside restaurant.
Always good, but food took longer than usual and donuts were definitely over cooked. Waiter and staff were helpful, but kitchen didn’t bring their A game this time.
Amazing food, incredible flavor and service. Will definitely go back.
We tried a bunch of items in their happy hour menu. I specifically liked the deviled eggs and truffle fries! I ordered the great mule but didn’t care much for it- was too sweet for me. My husband had the burger and enjoyed it! We also got the Cobb salad which was plated really well- you just have to cut up the greens before eating them; too much work for me
The service was just slow. The bartender was our server and she was just way too busy! Overall, great time!
This restaurant would be a lot more popular if the restaurant would work with the shopping center in providing user friendly parking. Signage is very bad and the parking situation is not user friendly. I thought Horton Plaza was bad, but UTC is horrible.
Our first visit in May was fabulous! We were very disappointed yesterday. Menu items changed, cauliflower dish undercooked and cold, snap peas overcooked and tasted terrible, squash soup watered down, service not good, and waited a long time to get served. I would recommend for breakfast now only as donuts are very good.
Went for breakfast Sunday Morning. We got seated right away and were greeted by our waitress right away. The food came out quick and fresh. Everything tasted good. If the doughnuts were not so filling we most likely would not have had to asked for boxes. Will definitely be back!
There seemed to be some kind of confusion or disagreement about who was our server. So it started out that we had too much attention & then zero attention. We got there in plenty of time for happy hour but no one let us know about the menu until it was too late (we found out about it from a neighboring table). When we asked about it, we were told happy hour was over. :( Fortunately, the manager discovered that the two servers had been trying to take over our table (no idea why) & neither had actually been helping us & he honored the happy hour specials for us.
Great food and great service! We went in the evening so it wasn’t an issue, but the A/C needs to get fixed!!
Big fan of the original Hillcrest location, my first time at the UTC location. This spot seems like a soulless copy of the original. Host staff was super nice, the service was OK, bussing and cleanliness needs some work. Food was average and overpriced—reminded me of eating at a mediocre hotel restaurant. I was super excited to try the new location, but left disappointed and likely won't return. Server mentioned UTC and Hillcrest have different owners, if that's the case, that could explain it.
Unfortunately,my guest cancelled before she arrived. We are going to reschedule.
While the maple bacon donuts were as good as the Hillcrest location, that’s the only thing that was comparable. The location is easy - parking at mall was abundant (Sunday about 10:30am). We had reservations so got seated fast but then everything slowed waaaaaay down. Took forever to get our coffees and Bloody Mary which ended up being undrinkable - much too much horseradish. Food also took forever and then one of our 6 dishes was incorrect. Server was overwhelmed and not super friendly. Food was ok, but if we go back it will be to the location in Hillcrest. Disappointed.
Second visit (first time, brunch) was disappointing. Oddly enough, we got better service on a busy weekend brunch visit than we did on a pretty quiet Sunday evening. Our server arrived after we were seated and poured our waters and said she'd be back to answer any questions. I think we saw her pass by once or twice, but she didn't return and she didn't return, even though there was hardly anyone seated nearby. We finally did something we have never done before, just up and left. Can I recommend this place? I suppose it's fine. But someone should train their servers how to, well, how to serve!
Every item that we ordered was delicious! The food came out quickly and our server was attentive. Be sure to share the maple bacon doughnuts and fried chicken.
I recommend the Maple French toast and Chilaquiles.
