Great food. Convenient downtown Palm Springs location. Our server, Robert, was extremely attentive and friendly.
Thanksgiving dinner- special menu, but ambiance was poor. Bright lighting, poor choice of music and really did not feel like a holiday. Waitstaff was good, but rushed us thru and kept trying to take away plates before we finished.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving prix fix dinner. The vegetarian option (pumpkin Ravioli) was excellent and the turkey was as moist as any I’ve ever had. Super friendly staff!!!
Great fixed price meal. All courses were served timely. Drinks were well crafted and service was swift and friendly
Thanksgiving dinner at Grand Central and the food was good. Very standard turkey dinner. High quality but let's be honest, turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing are pretty standard no matter what you do with them. Was not impressed with the serving size of the first few courses. One little piece of bruchetta and a tiny bowl of soup. Both tasted great but they were barely a taste. A bery small scoop of mashed potatoes and stuffing had that school lunch cafeteria feel to them. All meal items were low cost to prepare so felt they could have been a little more generous for the $70 per person charge. All in all was a very satisfying standard Thanksgiving dinner but felt very ripped off by the time we walked away with a $230 tab (including tip) for 2 people and a drink or 2 each. We are typically fans of Grand Central but felt we just didn't get much for our investment in this case.
Always a fun place! However disappointed my favorite chicken burger was not on the dinner menu anymore 🥲
Outstanding food and service! I had not yet been for dinner, and we will certainly be back.
We all did the pre-fixe and were shocked at how large the portions were! It's offered from 5-6:30 pm and is only $39. The cocktails were excellent and my mother-in-law kept raving about how great the wine was.
The waitstaff was outstanding and anticipated all of our needs, even turning down the music a bit so we could talk. Having to do takeout during the pandemic, I had forgotten how great it is to dine in a restaurant and be served a lovely meal and drinks. We can't wait to return!
Our server was courteous, professional. Compliments to the chef and bar tender!
I went to Grand Central with a small group to celebrate my friend's birthday for a Saturday night dinner. The service was amazing and our server Robert went above and beyond to make our night special. We all loved our dishes and cocktails. I would definitely love to visit again next time we visit Palm Springs and check out their brunch.
Have been to Grand Central a couple of times recently. Excellent food and service.
Only downside was that I decided to sit outside as it was a lovely evening.
The outside patio was full so I had a table on the sidewalk. However it is right next to the parking lot. We could smell car fumes as the front bumper of a huge truck was touching the back of a chair. Not the restaurants fault as I could have sat inside however just be aware if you decide to sit at a table on the sidewalk! I highly recommend this restaurant.
I luv the food, I luv being on the plaza in the heart of downtown! The only thing I didn't like was the slippery, uncomfortable, chair. I had to slant it oddly to not slip out of it. Perhaps a thin cushion would make it a more comfortable experience.
Food was excellent.
It was date night before seeing live theater. We ordered cocktails, which were perfect. We then selected the Prix Fixe menu, which was wonderful. All four courses were presented nicely and tasted terrific. Our attentive wait staff was friendly and helpful. We have a great visit and would recommend this to anyone.
The food, cocktails and service were amazing.
The lamb shank slow-cooked to perfection! Roasted Brussel-sprouts crisp and delicious. The Chicken Milanese (which was more like a schnitzel) was divine (the perfect fennel salad and lemon caper sauce perfect accompaniment).
And Gary’s service was spot-on!
The food and the presentation were perfect. The flavor profiles on the brussels sprouts and coconut shrimp to start were really good. The size of the entrées and the fresh fish were excellent.
So happy to know GC has reopened in the evening. The menu was varied and the prix fixe was a great value. The service was impeccable.
Our experience here was incredible for dinner. Food was fantastic and service (Douglass) was incredibly friendly. We would 100% visit here again.
Great food and service, not much of a vibe
Outstanding service (thank you, Paula)! Our group of six shared three appetizers and salad, then we each had our own entree! The food was absolutely divinely delicious! A casual restaurant with upscale cuisine!
Great food, drinks, and service in a laid back atmosphere!
I've been going to Grand Central for brunch/lunch since it opened and have never been disappointed. The service and the food has always been fantastic and it's still a spot I would go back to for lunch.
However, I recently had dinner there and was completely disappointed. Grand Central hasn't been open for dinner for months due to the pandemic but they've been back with dinner for a little over a month now and I was excited to try it since the other brunch and lunch food I've had there has always been so good.
I went with a group of friends and I had the Steak au Povire and when I ordered the waiter repeated back, "..the steak of what?" Bad sign number one given that there's only one kind of steak on the menu and a good waiter would have known what's on the menu.
After having a glass of wine and spicy coconut shrimp for an appetizer which wasn't bad but wasn't great, I, along with everyone else at the table, waited a while for our main dishes to come. I'd say upwards of 20 mins. The restaurant was not busy at all and other tables arriving after us got their food before us. Bad sign number two that the staff and workflow are uncoordinated.
The food finally came and the moment the waiter placed the food on the table I knew it wasn't going to be good. The Steak au Povire, described on the menu as a "10oz angus NY Strip ... with herbed parmesan fries" was basically a thin, grisly, non-trimmed steak that was gray and had not been seared, cut lengthwise, slung on top of some basic french fries with a sprinkle of parmesan and herbs. I was expecting a steak crusted in crushed peppercorns, seared to a nice crisp on the outside, with a peppery sauce. What I got was a slightly glorified but terrible rendition of Steak Frites.
My expectations for this meal were high and were not met at all. I would not return to Grand Central for dinner and wouldn't recommend anyone else do so either.
Charming restaurant inside and out. We ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts as a starter, very delicious and are a meal within themselves. Next our entrees, Chicken Milanese delicious cooked with lots of flavor. Hubby had the Citrus Beurre Blanc Salmon said it was very good. We had a side of Garlic-Goat cheese Mashed potatoes they were the Star of the whole meal! So creamy, and delicious 😋 our server was knowledgeable and helped with the selection of dishes. Definitely going back to try their breakfast and lunches next time we are back in town 😊
Continuing our exploration of Palm Springs restaurants, we went Grand Central on a Friday night, just early enough to catch their prix fixe dinner. At $39 for four courses, it was a good deal. The first course was superb. My partner had lobster bisque and I had gazpacho. The soups were followed by salads, which were fine but not memorable in any way. The main course, salmon, was disappointing. The dessert, chocolate molten cake, was excellent. But most importantly, we were rushed through it all. I was halfway through my salad when the main course arrived. The location is great - right on the plaza - but, on balance, I would not recommend it.
First time to dine at Grand Central. The prix fixe was a very good deal. Every course was delicious. Our waiter, Robert, was friendly and helpful. We had just the right amount of attention. We enjoyed sitting outdoors but the indoor seating looked appealing also. Will definitely return.
Three of us enjoyed our first dinner here. Being in touristy downtown Palm Springs, our expectations were relatively low. The quality of the food, preparation and presentation were excellent. We shared a generous mussels appetizer which was good, not great. The mussels themselves were not as large and plump as we’ve had elsewhere in town (Pomme Frite, Johannes) though the preparation was quite nice and the included toasted baguette to soak up the broth was a treat. We all found our mains to be terrific; lamb shank, chicken Milanese and seared ahi tuna steak. Ingredients were fresh, preparation was creative without being fussy and the portions were generous. The price point for main courses here is high but the quality justified the cost. Low point was the cocktails. For $14 you hope for a generous pour and not a glass filled to the brim with ice. At least a gentle buzz would’ve been nice.
Overall Grand Central was a very good dining experience. We’ll be back for sure.
We went for dinner and the food was fabulous, the salmon was cooked perfectly, garlic shrimp was awesome and the was one of the best I have had, must visit location
The Prix Fixe menu was delicious and a nice bargain.
Immediately after being seated, I requested a cushion because the chair seats are flat and hard. Eventually, everyone at our table requested a cushion.
We also requested that the music be turned lower as it was intrusive, to which they complied. However, as the evening progressed and more diners arrived, the noise level became increasingly loud to the point of distraction.
The inside temperature was like a meat locker
Awesome experience and good!
I received different information from 2 different servers regarding gluten free options, the discrepancy left me very uncomfortable.
Best gazpacho of my life. Great food.
Food was delicious, Robert was amazing friendly service, owner was friendly,
Marco is the best. Fabulous addition to the restaurant.
We came for a birthday dinner and had a great time! The food and portions were great, their signature drinks were delicious, and the manager was awesome.
Need to upscale the look a bit for evening, table placement or something to soften up the room… service good, food really nice, room just needs a bit of softening!
The host as well as our server were amazing, we went back the next day for breakfast the service was just as amazing!
Lovely dinner and spectacular service. Would definitely come again.
Our food was excellent, service was outstanding, we had a very nice evening
Server was wonderful.
The food was spectacular. Every item ordered was as good as it gets.
