   The food was good, but not great. The service was very good. It's okay for pre-theatre dining, but I think the price is high for what's on offer

   We visited Gran Paradiso lunchtime on 19-6-14.We were initially surprised to find how empty and quiet it was.However, this did not detract but perhaps enhanced the superp service we were about to receive. Our starters of prawns in a chilli and mushroom sauce was delicious. Our main courses were Halibut and Seabass.The Halibut was a generous portion with saute potatoes and veg to match.With fresh raspberries and mango for sweet, all washed down with a good housewine, it was indeed a marvellous lunchtime treat to be recommended.

   Another enjoyable evening in this wonderful family run restaurant - everything about this restaurant makes for a pleasant and delicious dining experience - from the wonderful olives and bread to the wine, but the food is the real star whatever you choose from the menu.

   Pleasant atmosphere and the staff were charming to our ( well behaved) ten year old. However food was average - standard fare. Extras - (bread / water) pricey. Pleased to have a round table.

   I thought the food was excellent - I had the lamb chops and my husband had the liver and we both felt we had never had such tender and tasty meat before. My 2 sons were also very impressed. Because we went early 5.30 pm as a pre theatre dinner it was a little lacking in atmosphere (we were the only ones in there for the first half hour). Service was ok but not overwhelmingly good. Perfectly pleasant but not the typical exuberant Italians. I wanted spinach instead of beans in the chefs special vegetable platter and this was not possible which I thought was a bit strange as spinach was available as a vegetable. They were very pleasant about us bringing in a birthday cake and provided a song a cake.

   Excellently positioned minutes from Victoria, I love this place. Food is reasonably priced and delicious. They even do gluten-free pasta which is not that common. It's a great place for business or pleasure and consistent in quality. Service is never with a smile but is perfectly adequate, just don't expect charm or outwardly friendly staff.

   The starters and sides were very good, but the mains were average. We ordered the veal chop and the halibut and both were somewhat overcooked. Nice atmosphere though.

   Two of us came here last weekend. We both had a starter and a main course but no puddings and no alcohol as neither of us drinks. The bill came to £81 which I thought was very steep for what we had and much more expensive than this place used to be. The owner (I think he was the owner) took our order but forgot one of the vegetables. When our main courses arrived without it and we pointed this out, he was very off-hand and not in the least apologetic. A replacement vegetable was quickly rustled up but it was stone cold; it had clearly been cooked earlier and not reheated. My main course was delicious but overall I was not entirely satisfied.

   Very unlike the usual Italian restaurant. Staff and maître d far from happy. Service slow and food below expectations. Would not return or recommend.

    I revisited Gran Paradiso for lunch after an absence of many years and my only regret was that I had not come back sooner. We were made welcome, had a great table in plenty of space, the service was attentive but never intrusive, the food was first rate and the whole experience was wonderful.
