A perfect location for that romantic dinner with your special person...start with a special beverage in the Driftwood Room, an iconic cocktail environment...then advance over to Gracie's and ask for one of the half moon booths facing the windows...then turn it over to the outstanding service staff and culinary team to create a memorable evening...and if it gets out of hand walk over to the front desk and get a room!
The short ribs were awesome and the risotto was outstanding...an all around home run! Hope it never gets too popular because I love the intimacy of this fabulous venue!
Gracies is one of the few classic restaurants with Art Deco decor around. Food is exceptional value, taste and preparation. The ambiance is fantastic!
Once inside you quickly forget you are at a Hotel restaurant. The architecture and visual experience takes you back to a time when dining out was all about elegance and grace. Service has never been a problem and tonights waiter, Stephen, was top notch. Very knowledgable about the menu and accommodating every request. The menu has good variety but execution from the kitchen is poor. There has been a heavy use of salt on every visit and dish. In addition, there is lack of attention to details. Tonight there were two options with the spaghetti and meatballs. A garlic marinara or bolognese. These are two very distinct red sauces with very different flavor profiles. I had the later only to find out they simply add a meat mixture to the later which you simply can’t do.
Absolutely no service whatsoever. We were greeted with no one and stood at the door for a good 5 minutes before the host showed up, and was told to wait a few more minutes so they could set up the table even though we had a reservation and the place was half full. The food was just mediocre. Such a shame because the place is beautiful.
We really enjoyed the french toast and germain pancake.
Cool atmosphere matched by excellent locally sourced menu and pleasant service. We will be back the next time we find ourselves in Portland.
Gracie's is a lovely place to go during this holiday season. It's decor and furniture, especially the wonderful booths recall earlier times. I do miss the heavy curtains that used to be at the windows. But now it has a more light feeling for the warmer months.
My sister, nieces and I have gone to Gracie’s for a holiday brunch for many years. This year only four of us were able to make it.
As always the Deluxe lobby and Gracie’s looked lovely.
I arrived early but was seated by a pleasant server. The hostess had wandered off with a comment that she would return soon.
We had a 10 reservation and I arrived around 9:40 acknowledging that I was early.
After I was seated no one approached me and I was not able to get anyone’s attention. At that point there were only four tables seated. Only when the others from my party arrived was I able to get a cup of coffee.
Our server was very unfriendly. We all noticed it and one member wondered what we had done to offend her.
We always look forward to the various egg Benedict selections. This year they were quite disappointing. They arrived cold and rather tasteless. Since some of us declined the potatoes our server offered fruit. The Benedict’s arrived alone on a rather large white plate (no garnish or anything). The small bowls of fruit followed. Presentation was sadly lacking.
Since the restaurant had several empty tables we chatted over coffee.
In past years our tradition included a round of Bloody Mary’s. When asked if the drinks were spicy our server told us that another guest said they were. She willingly gave two of us a tiny taste of the mix. Thank goodness we didn’t order the drinks. The mix was awful. Our server informed us that the bartender wasn’t working in the morning and it was just her and the mix. Maybe you could consider having two pre made mixes available! One that diesn’t Set your mouth on fire would be appreciated.
It was a very disappointing meal and I am certain we will look for other options for future years.
A fantastic Christmas Eve dinner!
Amazing Christmas Eve experience!
The hotel is beautiful. We visited during Christmas time and it was wonderfully decorated. The restaurant also looked lovely. The service was ok, although my coffee was cold and the cup often sat empty. The food was OK. We ordered a German Pancake which was under cooked, the vegetable hash was good, although the pieces were quite large (whole large cherry tomatoes, large pieces of jalapeno etc, large pieces of potato etc.) and it wasn't a true hash. The kids pancake was a good size and a great value, but didn't have much taste. The most disappointing part and the main reason for my poor review was that after being at the restaurant just an hour, in which time we'd barely received the bill and were still drinking our coffee, the hostess asked us to leave! She indicated that due to the holidays the restaurant was full and they had reservations coming in!! I couldn't believe it!! We also had a reservation, there were several open tables and we'd only been there an hour. We were shocked and highly disappointed that such a luxury, boutique style restaurant and hotel would treat their guests in such a manner.
Great brunch. Wonderful retro vibe, great service & good food!! Valet parking too. Will definitely be back
Always good. Great service - upbeat, friendly . Elegant dining room, casual attire. Fine food at reasonable price. perfect for Sunday brunch.
Food and presentation A1
Beyond slow service, pleasant wait staff, under staffed.
Went for brunch with girlfriend and her mom. I had the salmon hash and I must say, it was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! So many unique flavors along with perfectly poached eggs. Girlfriend order crab Benedict and loved it as well. Her mom ordered the corned beef hash and it was on the overcooked dry side. Waiter was very apologetic and mom didn’t want to replace. The meal was taken off the bill, no questions asked. Classy place and first class service. We will be back for sure!!!
For a special occasion or a once-in-awhile nice evening out this is a great place. Everyone is attentive and friendly and the food is excellent. This was our second time here and, at each dinner, had several different selections, all very good. We’ll be back again.
Great service and atmosphere
Have been here many times, always a relaxed ambience where you can enjoy actually enjoy conversation with others. The food was exceptionally good this visit. Very tasty!
Service and professionalism lacking.
Unlikely to return.
Inconsistent quality level of standard items on the brunch menu. Service was on the slow side, unfortunately.
Will not return.
We had a group of 7 and it was a 21st birthday celebration that I had notified them of this before hand and they put us in the corner by the kitchen entrance so the ambience was lacking. Would have been nice to be in the middle of the room. There were a lot of empty tables all night. Would have made for a better experience. Also, on Open Table it said there was not a corkage fee but when I arrived it was 20.00 a bottle.
Service was very slow as well.
This was the night of a lecture at a nearby facility. I had a reservation weeks prior and was informed the day before that they would be serving a “price fixed”menu. The price was $45 each which was pretty steep. The food was good and probably not overpriced but more than I would have ordered given a choice.
I arrived earlier than my reservation, as the restaurant had called me the day before warning me that although my reservation was for 5:45 and I did not need to be finished until 7:15 that they would not guarantee that I could be served in time to make the lecture.
When I arrived although the restaurant was virtually empty, the hostess was curt and would not seat me. When my companion arrived we were seated in advance of our reservation.
When our server, Benjamin, took our order, I asked that the goat cheese be left off the top of my salad. Benjamin said it was not possible as the chef said no substitutions. When the salad arrived it did not appear that it would have been difficult to omit the cheese.
Benjamin did check back with us once as soon as our meal delivered before we had even tasted it, but we did not see him again until we were finished. We asked to have the remainder of out meal packed up. Our server did not ask if we wanted coffee to accompany the desert. When the “to go”container arrived, I noticed that the vegetable that I did not eat was not in the container. I asked the server why. He said he had thrown it in the trash but then he put some in the container.
I have dined at this restaurant several times and have always been happy with the meal and the service. Even though the restaurant was not as crowded as it has been at other times when I have been there, the service this time was not even close to being acceptable. It will be a long time before I return.
Liberty was our server for our 19th wedding anniversary ❤️ She was AMAZING 💯 Great service. Extremely knowledgeable. Great recommendations. Impeccable service. Perfect for special occasions or date date. Beautiful setting. Very sophisticated and elegant. Order the oysters 🦪
My son and I ordered the medium-rare Prime ribs and fries at brunch, both were over cooked. We waited to notify the server but she was no where to be found. We were hungry so we just ate it. About 15-20 min after we began eating the server arrived and we informed her about the prime rib. She comped our mimosas which was appreciated. The risotto was delicious as usual!!
A restaurant with glamour and sophistication. Beautiful architecture. The service was wonderful. The valet was courteous and valet parking is free.
Perfect in every way
Always enjoy the food , for the most part, but loud, large parties ruin any ambiance or peacefulness on a Sunday morning. Tough to come away having enjoyed ourselves.
service is consistently top-notch w/Terry taking care of us.
Lovely as always. Thank you.
Food was delicious, especially the roasted pear and burrata salad. The service was extremely rushed. Halfway through the salad we were told our entrees were waiting. Halfway through our entrees, we were hinted at to get going. The restaurant was mainly empty so it was all a bit confusing. Maybe an 8p rush was coming? We dined at 6p on a Friday.
The food is always phenomenal. The service was a little on the slow side. All-in-all, our favorite restaurant in Portland!
Probably not the best idea to go on the day of a Timbers game. Way too noisy. So busy that it was really tough to get our server’s attention for a second cup of coffee or the check. We go there for breakfast because Gracie’s had the recipe for Thiele’s German pancakes. Always light and puffy in the past. Dense and flat this time. The syrup was very thin/watery. I ordered a side of spinach with my poached eggs. The amount in the small cup couldn’t have been a handful prior to cooking and the charge was $7. All in all, not a good experience this time.
Unfortunately, we were not given the booth we requested when we made our reservation, but otherwise, it is always enjoyable to do brunch at Gracie's on Sunday. Terry, of course, is the best server in town!!
Relaxing but elegant atmosphere for friends to gather!
It was fantastic!
We thoroughly enjoyed our entire meal!
A definite restaurant to visit while you’re in Portland. You will not be disappointed!!
Wonderful service with a knowledgeable staff.
Excellent everything. Good food, service, attractive.
Met my son for brunch and was as usual! Just right!
I took friends with me to experience the wonder that is Gracie's. They were not disappointed. The food is excellent. The service is great and the ambience is magical. It is truly an experience not just a meal. I leave feeling good each time I visit.
Poor customer service, took too long and there were only 3 customers. Food was salty. Bread was stale.
