Went to a Valentine's dinner and had great food and service. The kitchen was backed up, so the main course was slow to get out, but our server was extremely apologetic and attentive and they gave us free desserts. I would go back without hesitation.

We went to Gracie’s for high tea. Staff were nice, hotel and restaurant space were a bit musty, there was food all over the carpet and stains/food left on chairs. Tea selection was a bit disappointing but good quality tea, food was okay but they missed my note for food restrictions. Tea service was disappointing that you couldn’t change the strength of the tea selected ie they served water mixed with loose leaf in a pot and you couldn’t remove the tea leaves at any point…. For 60-65 a person seemed steep (pun intended) for what was provided.

You can tell when a property is in trouble when they start selling assets! Their website says they have free, valet parking. Not! First, they sold their parking lot across the street and no valet service at all for a multi-story building, which is in an adjacent block. Staff was telling different stories about where we could sit and have a drink. Not in the bar, definitely. It is charming, but tiny. The bartender was alone - no bar back and he was stressed out. We were told we could get drinks in the lobby, but it wasn't clear who was going to take our order. Our waitress, (who was very nice) suggested that we just go ahead and take our reservation and be seated in the dining room. First thing, we ordered drinks. We got our appetizers before our drinks. It took about 30 minutes to get those drinks. The drinks were very good. The dining room has a new-ish, good-sized grand piano. Rather dusty. We asked why no one was playing it. We were told "It's not in the budget." Too bad. One of my guests, who plays the piano very well, got up and quietly played a few numbers and received applause from all of the other guests in the room. A few months ago, I stopped by for lunch. Everything was fine. About the time I had finished my meal, a group of older women came in and told the manager they were there for tea. He responded, "Oh, we don't serve afternoon tea anymore." One of the woman said, "It's on your website." In order to save this wonderful Portland landmark, you'd better start cleaning house at the top and get someone in there who knows how to run a restaurant. Oh, yes, the food. Appetizers were excellent. After checking out the menu, we all ordered the same thing. It was a vegan pasta dish, with mushrooms. I don't remember the name of it even though it was seemingly well-described on the menu. It was so spicey, only 1 of us could finish their entree. It makes me very sad to say that I doubt I will ever return.

Food and service were wonderful, as usual. We have been dining here for brunch for many years. The validation of our parking in the structure, the valet parking, and lately, the free parking across the street have been much appreciated over the years. The new system is very using and very difficult to sign up for on the spot. It is/will be very irritating to customers! Please restore the free parking benefit. Your customers will be very appreciated!

Our reservations we at 10:15am. We arrived on time to a nearly empty restaurant and waited at the hostess station for 10 minutes before being seated. The waitress took a lot of time getting our coffees and also forgot to include one of our sides with our order. The German Pancake that I ordered was very thin and was very disappointing compared to other restaurants I've enjoyed them at. All and all I don't think the low quality of food, service and atmosphere were anywhere near worth the high dollar amounts charged.

Our family usually visits once a year and we made it in for the last Winter seating on January 28, 2024. They feature local Smith’s Teas and have 9 flavors to choose from. The scones with cream and jam are good ( it would be nice if they used a local strawberry jam ). Sandwiches were especially nice with a warm brioche bun and tasty chicken salad. Fresh berries are a nice addition to the sandwiches. Shortbreads, Lemon pound cake and Chocolate mousse tart ( half melted and messy to eat ) rounded out the sweets. High Tea was $65 a person which you pay on Open Table Reservation. I wish they explained a tip was included and what percentage . I wish Gracie’s would do a seasonal tea year round as the ambience and food make for a lovely afternoon experience and it would be a nice place to bring visiting friends and family.

Gracie’s is a beautifully appointed restaurant. The service is lovely and efficient and it’s quiet and cozy. And that’s about all I can say for the High Tea we had last Sunday. $130 for two people and an additional $30 for a glass each of Prosecco, I’d say it’s fairly expensive. The sandwiches were so bland. No flavor. Just uninspired. The deserts were okay but the chocolate mousse hadn’t set properly and simply poured out of its pastry shell like soup. The scones were dry, the jam thin and runny. It all felt like filler. An easy way to make money between morning and dinner service. It’s such a shame because it has all the potential to be absolutely great!

We were very disappointed in our food at Gracies. We have been coming for New Years Day brunch for many years. Coffee was luke warm, eggs Benedict muffin was burnt and instead of ham had an unpleasant piece of pork loin. Not sure about continuing our annual tradition at this restaurant.

We went to high tea on New Year’s eve and were delighted. The service was well paced and the servers pleasant and informative. All of the food choices were beautifully presented and delicious to eat. I had forgotten to indicate on the reservation that one in our party was gluten free. When our food was presented, there was a separate tray for our gluten free friend and it was just a nicely done as our formal tray. We were the last group to leave the event; as we were leaving, the server asked what was our favorite. I told her and she said she would tell the chef. Before we could exit the building, she came out and presented us with two extra servings of our favorite to go. It doesn’t get better than that!

They called us to come in early if possible so we arrived about 20 min ahead of time. Once seated it took 5-10 min for a server to help us. However, once she did get to us she was very pleasant and attentive to our table. We enjoyed the food and would definitely go back.

Our waiter Jimmy was amazing! She took her time with us and was so happy and sincere in her explanations etc. She was really delightful. You start out with selection of your tea. From just reading the explanations of all the choices, it was difficult. But then Jimmy brought us a box with the samples of the teas to smell. That was wonderful! It helped me to make a decision. The food was great. A three tiered tray was delivered to our table with savory and sweet. Everything was very tasty. I enjoyed the savory more than the sweets. I had taken a trip to England in September. I enjoyed High Tea there and was very familiar with the clotted cream which became a favorite while there. Gracie's clotted cream fell short. Gracie's sandwiches were wonderful. I did feel like there were too many items using cranberries which were not my favorite. The cranberry in the little sandwich was very tasty. All in all this was a wonderful experience! I took my daughter and we enjoyed not only the tea experience, but the ambiance, and definitely our server!

This is currently the most expensive tea in Portland. The manager, Jim, was wonderful, but in spite of confirming the date and time several times due to unexpected circumstances, they had us down for 2 instead of 3. The waitress was really passive aggressive about it and then she just was absent. Never asked how our food was. Didn’t ask if we wanted drinks. We had to chase her down to get more hot water and then the check. The food was better than average but the service was not good. And $211 for tea is kind of ridiculous.

We had a wonderful holiday Afternoon Tea. We’ve been sampling a number of the Afternoon Teas around Portland, and it was such a pleasure to have a tea waitress that was so knowledgeable about the teas that they had to offer. Olive was a delight! The selection of savories and sweets were impressive to look at as to eat. The afternoon tea was priced higher than most in town at $65 and must be paid in advanced to hold the reservation. Although there was no mention of it on the website, gratuity is included. There is also free parking across the street for Gracie’s patrons.

We went for afternoon tea, and it was generally nice. Unfortunately, they have no flexibility on food options since everything is pre-made, so good to keep that in mind. I'm pregnant and had a child with me - the tea sandwiches are mostly not pregnancy or child-picky-friendly, so I only really had sweet options to eat. Something for the venue to consider for future service, hopefully.

We had a wonderful time, felt very well treated with a great waitress Brita, and the food and tea were excellent,

We had made a reservation for holiday tea, but arrived to learn we could not have tea service because it started later in the day. When the reservations were made I followed the links from the website. This was a celebration tea and my guest was in a wheelchair and had made the trip by MAX to come. The only accommodation that was made was to provide us each with a free pot of tea. While the food we ordered was good, it was disappointing that we we unable to receive a tea service. The website was misleading and should be updated to avoid this problem for others.

We had a lovely family breakfast during the Christmas season on a Thursday morning. The meal would have been near perfection if they had a piano player and we wish they had a bigger Christmas tree in the lobby.
