The best French cuisine in Los Angeles. The service was great. Attentive without being in our face. The food was amazing. I can’t wait to go back.
I loved Ludo and Gilles pop up and came back 3 times during the summer.
Sadly The current restaurant without Ludo now produces rather mediocre forgettable food that is overpriced. It lacks the precise execution or the sumptuous flavor Ludo brought to the menu. The sole meunière did not have the classic brown butter pan crust, pasta was overcooked, steak frites was chewy. Would not come back.
Five women to celebrate a friend's birthday -- the waiter takes our orders and forgets mine. Everyone eats but me. He said he didn't think I wanted to order something -- but I ordered steak, so apparently I did. This was outrageous. The chef is excellent and friendly and prepares wonderful food, but the service is AWFUL. It ruined a nice evening.
we arrived at 7:30 and were shown to our table and we ordered drinks so far so good 7:45 ordered our meals our first course arrived promptly at 8:50 we asked where our main course was they were perplexed with no idea what the delay was as and aside the chef earlier came to our table to chat better he stayed in the kitchen our meals arrived at 9:00 my lamb was over cooked and tough my date had dover sole at $45 small and really embarrassing the other couple we’re like wise disappointed. manager took 50 off our check nice but too late I’ll stick with Craig’s I’ll piccolino and others
Dinner at Gilles was a through back to L'Orangerie. Starting with the famous oeufs avec caviar, Gilles famous cured salmon and Dover sole. Chef Gilles made sure to visit every table. An experience to enjoy.
Really enjoyed the prix fixe luncheon. The octopus was so delicious and the creme brûlée fantastic. Such nice service. We loved it.
Overall, meticulous attention to detail is apparent in every dish. We arrived early and they had no problems finding us a lovely outside table looking towards the garden area. Everyone was warm and friendly. It was cold and they provided heat lamps. The quality and taste of the food was outstanding beginning with the lightly dressed, hint of tarragon, gem salad. The duck confit was perfectly cooked, both crispy and juicy, and well seasoned. The dover sole was a large portion, expertly prepared with spinach and capers, and delicious. The rack of lamb was simply prepared and very fresh. We noted that even the pommes frites were expertly prepared and likely cooked in duck fat for that perfect crisp. I felt as if Gilles himself, had prepared or supervised our food preparation. My wife returned the next day for lunch with a friend.
Excellent in every way, from food to service. Hope it sticks around.
Hopefully for a space that has seen "celebrity" chefs make good their escape I would have hoped for great service - not the case. While the kitchen was OK (sole entrée was brought to the table cold) the service was less then spotty. The waiter put a new meaning to "wait" - I was with a winemaker and we brought special wines to enjoy and for our last bottle, the waiter took the bottle and after 20 minutes, he returned and told us that they would NOT allow it to be opened. We waited on every course - staff is nice & slow. That said I may try it for lunch.
45 minute wait to get our food. Service was poor. Unable to have our dessert because we ran late due to delay in getting main dish on our table. We were given cookies to-go to compensate for the crime brûlée we were not able to enjoy, but paid forex
Menu is small choices but great vibe and location
Food and service was OUTSTANDING!!! Beautiful location at The Montage. The hotel should consider this for a permanent arrangement. Great service. Price of entrees slightly higher for lunch options. Fabulous food!!!
One of the underrated gems in Beverly Hills, worth every penny
Everything was amazing
Food was delicious and our server, Tony was exceptional. Knowledgeable, personable and extremely professional...he made the our choice to dine at Gilles the right one!
I had been here for the summer pop-up and had had a wonderful, delicious dinner, with impeccable service, so we wanted to return. We came back to celebrate my husband's birthday (three adults). It was a different menu, which was fine, but the service was terrible--nice people, but totally inattentive and forgetful. We had to ask for a drink menu, and after it was brought, no order taken for drinks. One attempt was made to light our table candle and then it was forgotten (I pulled one from an empty table). I had to ask for water refills, including the sparkling we were paying for (which was warm). We were brought dessert menus and then the menus were taken away without even taking orders for dessert. So we had to ask for them back. We weren't asked if we wanted coffees, which one of us would certainly have wanted. I ordered the French Onion Soup, which I expected would be great, but I couldn't finish it. It was just a lot of onions in a simple broth without anything special to it. I ordered the Dover Sole, which was a bit rubbery and quite fishy, with no particular sauce or extra flavor to help the fish, and only a couple of pieces of boring boiled potato on the plate. Not worth $38. My husband's Steak Frites was buried in a sauce so thick you couldn't see the meat. To spend over $100 a person, with only one cocktail between us, I would not recommend it. Don't know what happened since the summer care....which had the name "Gilles" as well.
The food is spectacular and it’s the perfect location.
Great al fresco dining experience. The food, the service and table visits from Gilles make this feel like a French dining experience in the south of France.
Had diner on Friday night. Great service, ambiance, love the patio, very quiet. Perfect for romantic diner. Appetizers were excellent, sala nova and octopuss. Steak with roasted shallots was very good too. Fries were just OK and the sole meunière was OK (still not as good as the one in France....) the dessert Floating island was REALLY good so overall would def recommend and will go back to try out more stuff. I would say pretty good ratio price/quality for French dining. U guys should go!
We were enthusiastically greeted and treated for our 20th Anniversary. The food was the ultimate in French Cuisine and vegetarian friendly, as well. Our wait staff could not have been more pleasant or appropriately attentive, and Chef Gilles was most gracious! We shall return soon with friends and have been singing the praises of our delightful meal at Gilles!
Everything was meticulously perfect from beginning to end. Can’t wait to go back .
Our first time at this restaurant at the Montage and it did not disappoint! One arrival we had drinks at the bar and al fresco dining was the setting for our amazing 'summer at Ludo & Gilles' dinner! French cuisine at its best. Highly regarded Sommelier Kristopher was extremely helpful in assisting us with an amazing red wine.
Friendly helpful staff helped to make our Anniversary a night to remember.
Thankyou everyone. Watch this space, we will return 😊
Absolutely love this restaurant!! It is truly a gem in Beverly Hills. Chef Gilles is a master chef, 5 star service and everyone makes it such a memorable experience.
Wonderful and creative food. Loved the hors d’oeuvre cart. Excellent vegetarian options there. The veal was fantastic. Desserts are delicious. Fabulous and attentive service. The only suggestion is the restaurant could have been better lighted. It seemed fairly dark with the low lights.
Great but a little pricey but we’d go back
Summer of Ludo & Gilles was exceptional! from the scramble eggs with caviar to the steak diane, the Veal milanesse and the Branzino. Tony our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. Sadly they are only at the Montage until Sunday Oct 6Th. I hope they stay permanently we will coming back frequently.
We should have known from the start what kind of evening we were going to have. We stood at reception for 10 minutes before anyone even looked up at us. The hostess was helping someone who did not have a reservation.
No tables outside, reserved. No table to the side, reserved. Oh well. Again. Should have known.
We had 3 different waiters come introduce themselves & ask about drinks. Better than no one at all. Friendly, but very disjointed & didn’t feel polished.
The restaurant was pretty, but essentially unchanged from previous one. The food was average at best. Definitely not what I’d expect from a Michelin Star or for those prices. Bland and not particularly attractive.
Overall the experience was disappointing and felt like a place that didn’t care about you returning because they are done in a week anyway. Save your time & money and go elsewhere. Not worth the hype!
We hope it does not close!
Good food, but extremely slow service. They seemed very understaffed, and after the meal, it seriously took 30 minutes to get out check which was $85 too much with a wrong item on our check. The slow and bad service at the end ruined everything.
My friends were there for the first time and they loved it. I've been three times before and sincerely hope there will be a way to keep Ludo & Gilles at Montage open for a much longer time.
For lunch in Beverly Hills, Ludo & Gilles knocks it out of the park. What an amazing idea. Great chefs and a four star lunch !
Very underwhelming experience - would have expected more from these 2 genius chefs. The execution of the menu just didn't reflect their expertise.
Beautifully presented. Food creative and delicious
great minimal menu but with choices
will definitely return
Excellent prix fix
Need another appetizer Trolly-waited 30 min while another party tied it up
Fish was great
Looking forward to returning
Hope they return for Fall
i wish this restaurant would stay... even though it is a pop-up, i have gone twice and both times I was not disappointed.
very good experience! good food good price! parking is free first 2 hrs. Will definitely be back
I need not say more I have been there many times and I love it every time.
Beautiful patio setting with Ludo and Gilles’ delicious food. Excellent service (Alexander) and great management (Tim). Thank you for making us feel special in our neighborhood restaurant. We hope they remain there not only for a pop-up.
The dinner was amazing , had the steak tartare with the tomato and grilled bread salad ... we had the most lovely waiter , Mo that made our whole night ❤️
We have really enjoyed the restaurant. It has been the best restaurant The Montage Beverly Hills has had to date. The service needs much improvement.
