Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

The food was awful. Burnt crab cheesecake and mediocre gumbo at best.Augratin crab was swimming in butter.
Server was probably new and being trained. If you want anything fried a d that is it then this is your place.
Our first “date night” in many months. We picked Gaidos to have a memorable dinner. Must say overall dining experience was very disappointing. From mediocre appetizer to very long wait for food, this was just another dinner. Nothing special.
Our appetizer came out lukewarm and our drinks took forever. I’m not sure what was going on when we first arrived but service was super slow in the beginning. Things picked up and my entree (the special of red snapper with crab meat on top- not the cream sauce) was amazing. One of the top fish dishes I’ve ever had. Everyone else enjoyed their meals but agrees that mine was definitely the best! Pecan pie was delicious! Overall enjoyed our experience and would go back!
Impeccable service. Wonderful bottle of wine. The good looked absolutely appetizing and tasted GREAT. Can't wait to ho eat there again. Cheers.
We went for Mother’s Day. Our waiter, Luis, was excellent. The Watkins bisque and wedge salad was delicious, but the entrees were just okay (grilled seafood platter and crab stuffed shrimp).
We were in Galveston and have been to Gaido’s before. It is always so delicious. It was fantastic as always. We enjoyed our evening. We enjoyed the seafood gumbo and the shrimp bisque for appetizers and both had seafood entrees that were delicious.
My salad and bread were excellent. The fried shrimp were a big disappointment. They were chewy and tough and soaked in alot of grease. I expected so much more from all the reviews. Maybe just someone having an off day in the kitchen.
Our service was perfect and the food was delicious!
Our dinner experience at Gaido’s wonderful. The service was great. The wait time for receiving our food was amazingly fast. We had the crab cake appetizer which was so delicious. The wedge salad was enough for 2-3 people. The crab stuffed shrimp and Parmesan tomatoes were the best yet. All in all it was a gastronomic delight.
Always a wonderful experience!
It was exceptional! The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Still lives up to its reputation. Our waiter, Lucio, was outstanding. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy another fabulous meal.
Evan was excellent and food/experience first rate.
Thanks to Evan for making my niece’s birthday such a treat!
The food and service were both amazing, highly recommend!!
Very good service and good food. I'm military and should have let them know, but I did not. The service and food was outstanding. I don't believe in giving all 5's, and that does not allow room to improve. I think we all can improve. Take Care, Us.
The ambiance and the location are really nice. You are in front of the ocean even if you are overlooking a parking lot.
The food was good but not exceptional. I guess it is high end traditional gulf cuisine with a lot of fried things and creole flavors.
I enjoyed my meal and i would definitely go back if i am in Galveston.
We had an early dinner at Guido's one Sunday and it was delicious! Our server was very attentive, our entrees were delicious, and the price was fair. We will definitely come back.
Made from scratch! Highly recommend eating here for a special occasion. One of the best places we have eaten in Galveston.
This place is our fav in Galveston. Food is amazing and The customer service is incredible. Our servers name was Lucio And he is the picture of how Customer Service should be. Stopped by our table no less than 15 times to ensure everything was good. Kept our water filled, our drinks filled, and made incredible recommendations for the food. Exactly the kind of server you would expect from a staple like Gaidos. We will be back many more times
Another fabulous meal with excellent service from a lovely woman as our wait person. I'm sad I don't recall her name. The menu had many delicious offerings, and each serving of grilled fish/shrimp tasted so fresh as if caught earlier in the day! We always love the parmesan crusted tomato. Glad that traditional is still offered on the menu. Bravo!
Appetizers were great!
It was perfect for our 7 person party celebrating a 90th birthday.
First trip to Galveston. We are from the New England coast and are accustomed to fresh fish. We Wanted good seafood and Gaido’s delivered. Richard did a great job despite the restaurant being understaffed due to Covid (no one wants to work). He made sure drinks and apps got out quickly. The poblano soup is amazing, as were all out entrees. We had the redfish special, pecan mahi mahi, yellowfin, and catfish. All were expertly cooked-nothing was dried out from overcooking. Will recommend to friends and come again next time we are in the area.
Absolutely great. I had forgotten how wonderful it was to eat there.
This restaurant is the icon of Galveston restaurants. It has existed for 110 years and it is know for its seafood and especially all the ways they prepare the oysters. They have a baked oyster especial that presents the six different ways they bake them. I like them prepared all six ways so it gives me a taste of each type. Their shrimp dishes and fresh fish dishes are all excellent. They do have some great steaks for the landlubbers. There is a full bar for those that like cocktails or wine with their meal. If you are in Galveston it is a must place to stop for one fine dinner.
First ate here in 1987 and loved it; in 2021, the food is just as wonderful as I remember it being. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious with a variety from which to choose.
The ambience of the restaurant is a little outdated but that does not take away from the food. We will be back.
Gaido’s is a must for one of our dinners when we stay in Galveston. It’s always our special dinner night because it’s excellent food along with great service and atmosphere. This last visits was no different and as usual enjoyed our dinner.
Great place to eat. They know how to prepare and present seafood and they should after 110 years. Must make reservations as it’s hard to find table if you just walk in.
We had reservations, yet we arrived 15 minutes early. We were asked to take a seat and wait. During that time several parties were seated. My wife and I thought it might be because we had stated during making the reservation that it was for our Anniversary and they were setting our table up special for this. This was not the case as our table had nothing special about it.
There specials are always great! Service is exceptional.
Food was excellent and the service was outstanding.Jesse was very professional and knew all the answers I asked concerning the menu.
Christina our server made sure our night was the best.
Great experience. My wife and I on a little vacation decided to try and it was so awesome. Loved our food and service and will definitely go back and visit again.
Excellent dinner and amazing food had a real good time.
Just Do It? We stop in every opportunity we have.
Good location in the Gulf
Always a great time when we go to Galveston. They were busy on a Monday at lunch and it was so nice to see. Jesse was our waiter: he knew so much of the menu and was extremely polite & took great care of us. We will be back soon.
The service was great! The food was wonderful. I'm happy we chose this restaurant to celebrate our 1st anniversary.
Not at all impressed. Very disappointing. Let a lot to be desired. Waiter never even offered dessert menu but did to another table.
