Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Used to eat here with mom & dad as a young boy. Loved it then and I love it now. P.S. I turn 70 next Saturday.
Wonderful food and great service
Will dine there again!
Love this place only place we eat at when we come to Galveston, every birthday and anniversary for years because food is fantastic. Never have gotten bad service. This is a place where u can have a conversation yet enjoy the background music. Can’t say a bad thing about Gaidos. I recommend Gaidos to everyone who wants to have a meal at a fine restaurant . We have hosted a couple of parties and the staff know how to treat their customers.
9/25/2020. The food was amazing. The appetizer was a crabmeat cheesecake dish and the dessert—a pecan ball—was outstanding! A great place to celebrate your special occasions.
Gaido’s is a Galveston Classic....put it on the Texas bucket list!
Fried oysters and stuffed shrimp were delicious. Nice gulf view. Excellent service!
Went on our honeymoon and the food did not disappoint.
Covid seating took away from the ambience of the restaurant.
Arriving at 7:00 PM we were led to a make up table as our window view request wasn’t available so off we went to the back room. We did have window view and also a giant wall detaching the room from the main dining room. I went back to the hostess stand to request a better table in the main dining room. That’s when “Joe” rudely informed me we would have to wait until 9:30 as he was overwhelmed. I did not need his sarcastic reply so I told him we will take any table in the main dining room. He reluctantly told his assistant to bring us to our table even though “it wasn’t as nice as his assigned table”.
I expect a restaurant that I have frequented for over 50 years would put their best foot forward when greeting people not their worst. Needless to say Joe needs to get an attitude adjustment and Gaidos needs to have a more pleasant welcoming person to greet their guests.
My steak was cooked to perfection and extremely tender. Our server Josh was attentive without being intrusive. Our experience was perfect!
Tables spaced out because of Covid policies. We were seated in center of room literally with tables along the window wall and interior wall. Table was okay, but used to previous robust Gaido's. Food absolutely excellent. Desserts which we shared amongst ourselves of the Pecan Ball and Bread Pudding. Beyond excellent. I am not a Bread Pudding person but I have exception to Gaido's Bread Pudding. Just excellent. Pecan Ball is great also, but for me needs more chocolate on top as well under ice cream ball.
It's a Galveston icon. Must stop when in Galveston.
Gaido’s never disappoints!! Delicious food and excellent service. Will always comeback as often as possible!!
The food was of outstanding quality and the service was amazing and beyond all expectations! I’m glad we chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday!
The food was good, but not great. Being a person born on the island, and growing up in Galveston, Gaido's was recognized as the top seafood restaurant in town. After 60 years, I finally decided to experience Gaido's and invited three other siblings and again, the food and service was okay.
Been eating here since I was 12 and I am 52 now! Love the fresh snapper!
Exceptional food and service. My wife has severe dietary restrictions and our server was absolutely wonderful working with her to find selections that met her needs. The restaurant was a lovely and romantic start to our time here and we would both highly recommend it.
The food was as expected. No disappointments at all. Appetizer of spinach dip with crab meat was divine. Calamari was deliciously prepared. Entrees included seafood platters and premium gulf shrimp. Desserts are big enough to share so pair up with a buddy so you don't over do it. We will return.
Waiter was very good about the food and the story of Gaido’s
We had an amazing experience. We had 7 people and 3 service dogs in training at dinner. The staff was kind and courteous to all of us. The food was great as usual.
The hostess made eye contact and greeted us like we were the only patrons. My husband and I were made to feel special. We were seated and our server, Eugenia, was very quick in getting our orders. I had fried oysters and they were plump and very tasty. My husband had fried catfish and a house salad. Both fresh and flavorful.
Cliff was a great server. The food is great. It was my wife’s birthday and she throughly enjoyed.
We live in the Houston Metro and eat at Gaido's any time we are in Galveston for any reason. Occasionally, on a nice sunny day, we will drive to Galveston for a change of scenery and a leisurely drive down the coast with a meal at Gaido's to to off the day. This was our first visit since Covid and I will say they are exceeding any guidelines in Texas at the moment. With their large dining room and two additional event spaces open for general meal service, their tables were all spaced out at least 10 feet apart. This provided maximum safety but they were still able to handle close to their normal capacity by opening the event rooms. It is Crab season, so every dish came with generous amounts of sweet juicy locally sourced lump crab meat.
Tables were separated for social distancing. Service was efficient. Crabmeat cheesecake is delicious!
Gaido‘s was better than it’s ever been! The seafood was exquisite, our party had crabcake, golden tile fish, shrimp scampi, and crab stuffed shrimp. Every dish was excellent. The service was impeccable as always.
Dinner at Gaido's last Thursday night was excellent as always. Nothing compares to a classic. Consistently well-executed seafood dishes and sides. Every visit to Galveston requires a dinner at Gaido's. No new and trendy places can hold a candle to Gaido's.
Loved the Mahi Mahi dish. It was delish. The blue cheese grits were crazy good. And the service was impeccable. Thank you for a memorable dining experience.
Service was excellent, food was decent. The shrimp cocktail was disappointing for a seafood specialty restaurant. The crab stuffed shrimp was good, but didn’t for the price range. The service was excellent as were the drinks, the food was unexpectedly average.
We had a wonderful family dinner. Server was personable without being intrusive. Food was excellent as always at Gaido’s.
Trinity is the best waiter. We enjoyed his humor, his professionalism, and the service he provided was top notch. The food was excellent, everyone needs to stop here for a wonderful meal and excellent service.
Just looking at the facility says, "I gotta eat there!" You can see the gulf from every seat, obviously better along the windows. The wait staff is knowledgeable and makes good suggestions if asked. The timing of the salads or appetizers is perfect and the entrees are always the perfect temperature and served in a very timely manner. Presentation is always good the value is good.
Our favorite place to eat in Galveston! Always good servicw and great food.
Food was fresh and expertly prepared. They even threw in creme brulee (was close enough to my birthday).
This is a great tradition for us to splurge On at least once on our Galveston trips. Covid has of course changed many things, but the service here is and has always been top notch. Johna (spelling?) was great, and was most recent in her family to work here. Sisters combination plate was not quite hot, but tasty. I went with soft shell crab, was a little overdone. Everything else was delicious. Hubs had Redfish Michael, a definite must try for a first timer, as well as the Pecan pie.
We will keep coming back as long as they are there! Been in business since 1911, don’t think they are going anywhere!!
Gaido's is always our have to go place when in Galveston. The food and the service never disappoint. Our meal was for 10 and from the appetizers to to desert, from 9 year old's to 66 years old, everyone was delighted to be there and enjoyed the food and the facility, and the staff's attention.
This was a wonderful experience for our 38th anniversary. just a choice off of Open Table, but we could not have been more pleased. Everything served was excellent. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Went to Giados for my birthday dinner while in Galveston. We made reservations for Covid-19 purposes. We were quickly greeted and directed to out table. I was unaware how large of a space Giados consist of & multiple dining areas! The decore and ambiance was very nice. Our server was doing well up until a large table 6+ was seated near us. The guest were rude & very overly demanding it frazzled the waiter. It took away from the waiters focus on his other tables/guest.
The oysters on the half shells were amazingly fresh & succulent. The onion stackers didn't come out until our entrées arrived. Our table ordered shrimp & grits... excellent! 6oz medium with asparagus, best steak ever! The last entrées was the seafood platter, the sea scallops were perfection! We finished the bottle of bubbly & had a couple of peach bellini. Food and drinks were exceptional! It was a a fabulous dinner overall.
We visited from out of town and decided to give Giado’s a try. The food was amazing and our waiter Joshua provided us with great service.
Food was excellent as usual, I get the soft shell crab every time!!! I highly recommend Gaido’s.
Good food, nice options
