Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Amazing 109 year old restaurant. Food was outstanding! Service incredible.
Gaido’s is a seafood restaurant. That is what they do best. My wife ordered the 16 oz Bone in ribeye steak, hoping that it would be cooked correctly. However, the steak is cut too thin to appeal to the large piece of meat on a plate crowd. The steak was not cooked as ordered, medium rare. It was medium. We sent it back to get another one and the second steak as cooked correctly. So, lesson learned is don’t order steak at a seafood restaurant!
Food was way below par.
My snapper portion was 2 bites.
Appetizer was all coleslaw.
Really good food and great service. We’ll definitely go again
I think k music could be updated ,
Service was slower than normal, our waiter loved to talk too much and we sat without water I’d tea for awhile.
Fundraiser receive salt dad pepper, wedge salad was great but needed my salt and pepper, husband says his fried shrimp not as good as used to be .
We had gone to Nicks a couple of nights prior.... what a joke, wait people were not happy to serve you, food meciocre, guess waitress was to busy talking to her friend at hostess stand and food was barely warm with almost empty restaurant. We won’t be back to nicks (rundown looking)
Gaidos is always a treat! Try the fried shrimp and the red snapper.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service! Thank you to our waiter, Jesse!!
We haven't been eating out as often lately so we wanted to go to one of the nicest restaurants in Galveston. Gaido's . For the first time ever we were disappointed with both the food and the service. But the gumbo and the poblano soup and the bread were excellent!
Great local seafood restaurant. Good local fish and highly featured dish. Get the seafood tower
Considering all the rave, we had to try this place out. We were disappointed the place was in need for a face lift. Food could have been better plated for more appetizing appeal. Our main dish came out a mushy mess on plates.
Enjoyed our visit very much. Ordered the American Red Snapper Michael with the Beurre Blanc sauce with Jumbo lump crab. An amazing dish. Will come back again and again to enjoy their fresh seafood and excellent service.
Great food & friendly service!
They truly are set up for social distancing in the best way possible. We were impressed. It could use a light dusting. We were seating next to a window. We were about to put on purse on the ledge but it was very very dusty. Our waiter Johna was excellent. She answered every question and was not afraid to give recommendations when asked. We overheard another waiter giving a recommendation that she told us was unavailable. Before we could ask, she stated that she heard the same thing, double checked and let us know she was correct, it was not available. We appreciated that. Our food looked great but really had little taste. It was crab week but it tasted boiled in plain water. So ordering it extra to top our fish did nothing. The best things was the table bread (oooh so good), the crab cake (pricely but was delicious), the spinach crab artichoke dip (Order extra bread... it was delicious) and crab stuffed shrimp. Otherwise it was a nice evening out able to look out on the waves.
The food was extremely fresh. The restaurant was set up for social distancing and the staff was amazing.
The food was very delicious and the service was excellent.
Great place, historic establishment. Food was amazing as was the service. Ask for Reid. Make a reservation, it was busy and the only reason we got in was we had made one.
My son’s birthday. This is where he wanted to go for it.
Delicious! Fresh! And the pecan pie alone is worth going for. Hands down the best I've ever had (sorry Grandma).
Great landmark restaurant, you can always count on the food being good and fresh!
Nice restaurant and service was great. Food was good too
Grilled snapper over cooked on dirty grill which contaminated the entire plate. Greek saladad was excellent.
Our waiter had a large party in our section and, was away for quite sometime.
He seemed to be overwhelmed, which caused us some concern because of Guidos great reputation and pricing.
Onion ring stack was crispy and non-greasy.
The blackened tile fish was delicious.
And the pecan pie - just the right amount of sweetness - awesome
The bread they give initially - melts in your mouth and wonderful flavor.
The shelled crab with lemon garlic tasted too meaty and no flavor.
Wanted to go back to this restaurant we ate at in the 80's. Fond memories of that evening with our little toddler. Looks like the restaurant is still getting a good crowd.
For these past 20 years for different occasions I go to Gaido’s and enjoy Bread and olive seasoning, food, service and ambiance always awesome 👏
Red snapper Blakend with crab on is fantastic. Pecan pie with ice cream is a must.
Went there to celebrate my birthday. Food was great. Service very attentive and friendly.
Simply the vest restaurant on the island hands down!
Food was great, service was fantastic. They will definitely see us again.
The pecan crusted redfish special was the best I have ever had. I’ve been to giados a lot, but this was the best!
Amazing food and excellent staff. Worth every penny. Great selection of fresh catch and interesting history of the family owned restaurant. Definitely eat at Gaidos when you are in Galveston.
We had a great birthday lunch for my wife. Our waiter was Reed and he was very knowledgeable and attentive.
The shellfish tower is so worth it the food was wonderful and the service was outstanding
Awesome food & service. Been enjoying Gaido’s over 60 years!!
Server wasn’t the best. Hardly checked on us. Food was oddly not too great, and we normally always have a great experience here. Flounder had no flavor, crab Mac n cheese tasted off, salmon was very odd tasting as well.
Absolutely fabulous dinner, our waiter Kevin was exceptional! Food was terrific. My wife and I really enjoyed her birthday dinner. We were visiting from out of town.
The fresh seafood tower is amazing; food is always consistent as is service.
Our favorite and a must while in Galveston. This toppings !!! Amazing ❤️
Good food great service
