Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Chilled jumbo lump crab served over freshly sliced avocado with fresh-made remoulade
Mild, sweet flavor profile, moderately firm texture and large moist flakes, dusted with cajun seasonings and seared on a cast iron skillet
Five jumbo Gulf shrimp prepared fried, grilled or blackened
Our server Jesse was excellent. Our drinks & wine selection choices by the glass were great. I ordered the wedge salad & Jesse recommended we split it rather than get one each. We ordered the fried shrimp which was delicious. We also ordered the chocolate pecan pie with ice cream & bourbon sauce! I highly recommend! Ask for Jesse!
The meal was not inexpensive but was absolutely one of my top 3 best seafood meals ever! Had the baked stuffed flounder topped with fresh crap meat. Fabulous!!!
Service was ok
Noticed that our server was not as present to our table as the server who was waiting on the table next to us .
Gaido's is ALWAYS a consistent favorite. I appreciate the steps they are taking during Covid and felt very comfortable. As always the food was delicious and service impeccable.
Great specials and pecan pie was excellent. Lots of interesting history on display as well.
Excellent all around . Food , service , price and Gulf front view was perfect
Our requested table by the window was waiting for us when we arrived, even though I had modified our reservations because we were running late. The grilled oysters were the best ever, just as I remembered. The seafood gumbo is good but not great. My husband had the shrimp stuffed with crab and stated he would order them again. We will be going back from our week in Galveston ends!
Food tasted great, plating/presentation lacks severely. Close to being perfect but still an amazing meal.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Gaido’s Seafood Restaurant in Galveston Texas this year of our Lord 2020 and it was wonderful ! The server was very personable, polite, prompt. The shrimp scampi and cheese bread appetizer is the best I have ever had and our Stuffed flounder was perfectly cooked. If you’re ever in Galveston find the time to dine at Gaido,s .... You’ll be glad you did.
One of the best restaurants in Texas! The dining room is not luxurious, but the food and service is top notch. You can't beat it for gulf coast seafood!
Very good food and service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My companion and I had T’giving at Gaido’s. Even with COVID protocols, the meal was flawless! I made two passes through the buffet and barely made it to my car. I had doubts about how they could pull off 500+ reservations, but everything went like clockwork. Congrats to staff and management for a great T’giving!
Small family gathering for Thanksgiving. Everyone had a wonderful meal for our non-traditional holiday!
We were seated in a back room so I guess reservations for ten puts you in the closet. It was thanksgiving day and we opted to eat on menu instead of buffet. Food was very slow but we expected that. Server was good. We eat here every time we are in town and usually it’s great. Every member of our party enjoyed their food, even the one who got a total different plate than he ordered.
Traditional Thanksgiving fare at Gaido’s is not to be missed! I think my family and I just established a new Thanksgiving tradition. Everything we tasted was outstanding and our service was remarkable. I’ve always loved Gaido’s, but this was an exceptional experience!
Very disappointed in the buffet offerings for the price. Didn’t offer gumbo (Usually a staple on the buffet), turkey totally dry, restricted dessert to only 1 piece (that’s not “all you can eat”).
Generally a disappointment.
Went for Thanksgiving. Food was Excellent!! Service was good after a slow start. Took like 15 minutes to get a bottle of wine. After that Service was very attentive. Interior is a little tired but I suppose that may be the look their going for. Lots of old pictures and menus on the wall. All and All I would return when in Galveston.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Gaido's and it was the best ever! Turkey, ham, mahi mahi, fried shrimp, and the best veggies ever. I loved the mashed potatoes, what is in them? The asparagus, and the green bean casserole that had onions in it was super good. We had the best waiter who was a sweet and nice guy--I hope he had a good evening with his family. Eating out during the pandemic is sometimes a concern but here, everyone wore a mask, the tables are very spread out and they have removed the ones they don't use so social distancing seemed like 10', not just 6', and even though it was a buffet, it was served by employees so no one is touching the serving utensils. One member of our party ordered the salmon off the menu and it was a very big, thick piece of salmon and was delicious. We need to go back, or order take out, next time we are in town!
Had a craving for soft shell crabs so I ordered 3. I forgot I was in TX. I got 3 HUGE crabs! I’m big eater, but my companion and I couldn’t finish all 3! Our server (Josh) did a great job as well.
I was so disappointed with the restaurant as I had heard that it was one of the best in Galveston. I ordered the Parmesan encrusted red snapper and it came to the table covers in soggy pasty flour. The oysters were unlike any I have ever eaten - overpowered by the spice they added - especially the Rockefeller. The choice of wines by the glass was not good
We had a variety of things that where great but the stuffed flounder and char grilled oysters where above and beyond!
We are local& try to stay out of the tourist traps. Hadn't been in years but had out of town guest that wanted to dine At Gaido's, The food use ok but nothing special . The service was poor we were a table of 4 and our waiter had a large group come in seated right behind us. We became the forgotten table & were told such by our waiter. He never offered to refill our drinks, left the table unbussed, When we asked about desert he all but tossed the menu at the table and walked away. VERY DISAPPOINTED
Food and service were fantastic!
Great service, great food, great experience.
Good night, our waiter did great, restaurant was quite do to virus not many folks..need to get country going..
Always a family favorite! Excellent food and exceptional service!
Maria always takes such good care of us!! She accommodated us by allowing us to be seated in the back room. Sally waited on us and everything was perfect for my niece's 22nd birthday. We love Gaido's and it has been so hard during Covid not seeing our Gaido's friends and family. We wish all of them a Happy Thanksgiving!!
Love, Peggy Rapp
Food and service was top-notch, as always. Due to Covid, it was kinda weird, with very few people dining. . . .
Good food and nice views. Old style ambiance and design. Nice relaxed atmosphere
Place was nice and well setup to keep diners apart, so no issues with that. The service wasn't what I was expecting...from a forgotten drink order, to a menu order mistake and an offered but never received side of salad dressing. I was expecting excellent service, but not so much, even on a slow Sunday night. The food was just ok for the price. Unfortunately this has happened many times where a place that is super-hyped just didn't meet the level of expectation set on review sites.
My husbands, and one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Every time we go everything is spot on!!
Excellent service and food. Would definitely recommend and return
For years we have driven by or heard of Gaido's anytime we visit Galveston. We made a spontaneous stay in Galveston and decided to try Gaido's instead of our usually dining places for once. I'm so glad we changed it up this time!
We made reservations online at 6:30pm. We realized we should have made reservations right at sunset since it sits right on the SeaWall.
We were seated right away and tables were socially distanced from one another. Staff wore masks at all times.
Our waiter was great--very kind and attentive.
We had Oysters Rockefeller and Calamari---both so good and fresh. Our waiter was indeed correct--the tomato sauce with the calamari was really good!
Our entree orders included: signature crab stuffed shrimp, blackened tuna, kids salmon and kids burger. Everything was delicious!
Food was great, service was outstanding. Safety precautions were apparent. Good experience.
The scallops tasted undercooked. The mahi mahi was a little dry. I took a bite of the calamari once and had something hard in my mouth, which I spit out in the toilet. The waiter was attentive, but appeared a bit serious. The COVID precautions were being taken seriously, which we appreciated. It was a bit pricey, considering the food was less than great.
Highly Recommend Me and My Wife Celebrate Our First year Anniversary Of been married We love it Very Good food Great service
The food was amazing. Wait staff was great
Food was prepared exactly as we wanted it. The wedge salad was really good but so much. Three servings actually. Our server Reed was most polite and efficient. Only complaint was it was very chilly in the restaurant. Too cold for us. Probably because of social distancing so not as many people there.
Gaidos is worth the drive from the Woodlands
Watkins bisque is the best
Chargrilled oysters were excellent
Shrimp and grits are very rich
Complimentary crime brûlée for my birthday topped off a fine meal
Christina’s service was a perfect balance of attentive but not intrusive
Beautiful restaurant, great service & delivery food!
