Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Alexander was great. Wonderful grilled shrimp, steak and deserts.
Great way to spend my 25th year being married to a wonderful girl. Gaidos, never fails to please us both. My mom and dad loved this place and always suggested it over 30 years ago.
Thanks for the great service
Had a 7:30 reservation we checked in at 7:11 and didn’t get a table until 7:56. The place wasn’t overly crowded and there were plenty of wait staff and open tables. We ordered drinks it took 20 mins to get our drinks.
The whole dinning experience was 3 hours, we celebrated our anniversary and won’t be back
Service was slow to pay . I feel the rice was out of a bag or box pre made prove me wrong over all great place
Great food, service and atmosphere. We were glad we chose it
Hadn’t been to Gaido’s in years... it was always the gold standard for seafood in Galveston. While good it didn’t live up to the expectations we had based on past experience. It has become overpriced and under served. Unfortunately it lost its gold standard status from my perspective. Lets hope that isn’t a permanent change.
The food was gross, the drinks were disgusting, the waiter tried to push food on us that we did not want.
Gaido’s is always good. The only issue today was the gumbo. More like thick room temperature seafood-flavored gravy. There is usually really good. There most have been a new chef.
Everything was great with one exception. My pecan crusted meal had way too much pepper. The manager took it off of our bill and was very nice and apologized. Our waiter was terrific and other parts of our meal were delicious so one minor problem that was handled nicely!
Best atmosphere. Food was beyond great. Waiter was superb.
The service was great and our waiter new that menu and today’s specials to the point. Will recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Was served expired Bud light beer brought to attention of server, had to start bringing me draft instead as they didn’t have any cans not expired. Brought to the attention of a manager did not even offer to credit me for the expired beer, I did drink it but the right thing to do would have been at the least be given credit for that one beer. At first he tried to tell me that was the born on date that bud stop using years ago.
Everything about Gaido’s demands your attention. The food is captivating, the ambiance is relaxing, and the staff is extremely professional and personable. Visit Gaido’s on your next Galveston vacation, you won’t regret it.
Nick, the server was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant and the menu. Since it was our first time there, he was able to offer suggestions based upon our likes, popular items, and dietary restrictions. The restaurant was clean and the food was served and the perfect temperature in a timely manner. In addition to the amazing warm cheese bread served with herbs and EVOO, we devoured a bowl of gumbo, a crab cake, crawfish asiago, the famous fried seafood platter, and then finished the evening with a slice of key lime cake and bread pudding homemade to perfection!
My wife and I were very happy with our overall experience. The food was delicious, my wife loves clam chowder and said yours was the best she ever had. My fish dish was excellent too!
The service from Schasa was friendly and efficient!
Thanks for a great meal!!!
Best experience with server, Justin and Chef! They went out of their way to make sure my food was safe from gluten and was amazingly delicious! We were some of the last customers coming off a holiday weekend. They had to be exhausted but never showed anything but smiles and patience! Justin was extremely professional and personable and experienced. He even took extra time to answer some tourist questions we had about the history of the restaurant and the Gaidos family. He spoke with pride and knowledge as if it could have been his own family.
He seafood was out of this world! Cooked to perfection and the freshest ever! We travel quite a bit and are hard to impress. But Justin, Chef and the Gaido’s crew exceeded all of our expectations! Thank you Justin and Chef for one of the best fine dining experiences and thank you for an outstanding meal that was safe for this celiac customer!!!
Fantastic dinner experience. The food was absolutely wonderful, and so was the service. We topped it off with the best we have ever eaten pecan pie. We had faw oysters, swordfish with the best ever lump crab topping, with asparagus. The homemade bread with butter was wonderful. We will be back.
The food is to die for!
We have been there twice and the food is always amazing and the service is top notch.
I went years ago and really enjoyed it! This time I brought my family and it was terrible! Paid almost $300 with tip for four adults and one child, which was definitely not worth the money! The only thing they enjoyed was a dessert I ordered!
Have been going to Gaido’s for many, many years. The quality of the food and excellent service never fail to meet expectations. Fresh seafood prepared well. This Galveston institution is well worth a visit.
Well first of all, the service here is off the chart negative. The man up front has "we don't want your business" written all over his face. We made a reservation for four and when we got there, I said please add a highchair also. He said." No, you need to count every single human in your group. Is the kid not a human?" wow, I couldn't even process what he just said to me and why such a reaction?! Then, our server didn't go through the special off menu items and we had to ear drop on the next table while their server talked about the specials.
Now the food, as expected for a beach town, average quality and high pricing. We had the smallest shrimps in our shrimp cocktails. The rest are so average that don't worth to mention.
In conclusion, if you are in town and want some good seafood, know that you have many better options. Stay away from this one
As always great food service, interior could use a make over, but even if not, the food is always excellent and great service.
Wonderful meal—service was fantastic
I love this place. The staff is so friendly and professional. The dishes are always prepared well. I went with a grilled sword fish and garlic sauce. I did not like it. My sweetheart had the tile blackened and she loved it. My chowder could not have been better. So next time i will do a surf and turf. They fo this better than any
Grilled seafood had a horrible appearance and tasted as if the grill had not been cleaned recently. The spinach crab dip was very good. It is disappointing that when my reservation was taken, I was asked if this was a special occasion. 35th wedding anniversary and my host nor server said anything about it.
Gaido's has been a special destination for many years. Now I might as well go to Red Lobster.
Our waiter Joshua was terrific! Food and view were great!
Amazing food and for the first time I ate Golden Tile fish....and let me just say what an amazing fish. The service was also amazing...every part of our meal was impeccable...
Had not been to Gaido’s in twenty years and it was just as good as I remember! Kevin was a 5 star waiter serving 5 star cuisine!! My wife, who had never been, was truly impressed. Thank you
Wonderful experience as always. One of our favorites on the island.
Anniversary dinner, excellent service, excellent food and excellent atmosphere.
We had the best service, the best meal and just an all around wonderful experience! We will definitely be back!
Great service, great food, excellent prices.. We will definitely visit again soon...
It’s not what it once was. Mediocre food at high prices.
The service we received from our waiter was excellent. However, the food was not amazing. The sea scallops were sub-par and the fried shrimp tasted frozen. They should consider having more side options for entrees. The only options are potato wedges, grilled asparagus, or Parmesan tomatoes. I think you should be able to sub a side salad to replace a side, but they charge an extra $6.00. The desserts were good, but not amazing. For the area and price, I would consider other places.
Oldie but a goodie. Around for years and still producing excellent fare. Nice evening out family and friends. Had filet that was excellent, red fish tasted great with good portion, crab stuffed shimp was great. Devoured the onion ring stack among us quickly!
Great food as always!
Thank you Gaido’s for a wonderful meal and scenic views. Our group of 5 enjoyed all 4 courses from the delicious menu. A very special thanks to Evan who gave us magnificent service and left no detail untouched. A definite must when visiting Galveston Island.
Unfortunately our expectations were greater than our actual experience. We would have enjoyed more emphasis on healthier dishes, which we felt were either fried or too heavy on the butter and cream. Their presentation of the food lacked in imagination. The seafood soup, which was very tasty, had no garnish whatsoever. The Caesar salad was ordinary. The first two hot bites of the spinach crab dip were good, but then it quickly became boring. Maybe some fresh veggies on the side would have helped. The crab, which was on top, was delicious but too little. The other dish we tried was with mini crab legs and rice....a little boring. Finally, the KY Maker Marks cocktail was very good with fresh juices but the margarita tasted like a mix. All in all, it was an okay dinner with an excellent and very friendly waitress named Cassidy.
Our server Jean was top-notch! Awesome experience!!!!
