   I was really on the fence about going to the Salem location as I was wondering how much it could differ from the downtown Roanoke location? Glad I went. While I think the quality, service, etc. was the same...I really do like the Salem location better. I think the food is a little bit better...but overall, still very impressed. The waitstaff was great and engaging and very friendly. Admittedly, I went in a bit underdressed (t-shirt, etc.) from how I normally dress when I go out and was not treated any different than normal. The prices were...well a bit higher than I remember (I got to downtown Frankie's maybe 1 time every 2-3 months), but with the economy, I get it. I would recommend this place without hesitation. The food was great, service was great (with very attentive staff), I really have no complaints at all and will definitely be back soon!

   We really enjoyed our dinner last night. Steak was perfection as were all the sides. As a heads-up, the wedge salad is huge so think about splitting with someone. The only thing I would say is the bread served prior to dinner is very lame, all at the table agreed. We just expected bread that matched the experience of all the other food served. The atmosphere is just OK, could be so much more. Almost sterile with the colors. Could be warmed up with some great chandeliers in the dining area, pops of color. It almost felt too business like. Even a bouquet of flowers would add some zip! We cannot complain about anything else. I hope you take this as constructive as we loved our meal.

   Our experience at Frankie Rowlands -Salem was amazing per usual! Natalie, our server was personable and accommodating as always! And our meal was fabulous which can be challenging because I have a restrictive diet. I had the Bourbon Salmon and my husband had their Signature Crab Cake Entree along with Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Everything was prepared beautifully. We are from Upstate New York and fairly new to Salem…Frankie Rowlands-Salem has become our “go-to” restaurant whenever a “date night” is on the calendar!!!

   Love this place. Great steakhouse. I really enjoy the atmosphere and service. Where else can you get a 14 ounce filet. So so good. Creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin are really awesome sides. All sides big enough to share.

    We had a reservation and got seated quickly, received drinks and appetizers pretty quickly.. but it took over an hour and fifteen minutes to get our entrees. The waitress told us they had large groups ahead of ours, but people who got seated after us received their food before us. It's definitely not a great first visit impression . The only positive of our visit was taking our steaks home in to go boxes for the next day, because after being there from 7 to 9:45 waiting for the steaks we were ready to go.

    We had been looking forward to eating here, but the dining experience was quite disappointing. We were told that service would be a bit delayed since the ribeye steak needed to be "dressed". That was acceptable but it took over an hour for both entrees to arrive. In the interim we were served a basket of bread, which was tasteless (some compound butter would have helped). We had martinis; the "snicker bar" was very good, but the "signature" pineapple martini didn't live up to its billing & was barely recognizable as infused with pineapple. Still awaiting entrees, it took almost 25 minutes to order and receive some wine. Our entrees were actually quite good: a ribeye steak & salmon with a bourbon pecan sauce. But those items didn't offset the rest of the experience. Unfortunately, our sides (everything is a la carte) were not up to the same standard. The risotto had portions which were undercooked & crunchy; the carrots were hardly cooked at all...it was even difficult to cut them with a knife (we brought those home to finish cooking them properly). Service was friendly & there were lots of servers, but it was unreasonably slow. And the dining room is quite loud despite baffling on the walls. While this is the only "fine dining" option in Salem, there are many better choices available in the Roanoke area. We will opt for those in the future.

    The service was slow. We sat without drinks at the beginning and we finished our drinks and had to wait for someone to notice that we needed another round. Eventually we had to flag down staff members a couple of times to get what we needed like drinks, water, salt and pepper. People are packed in which takes away from the experience of a nice dinner. This made the noise level high plus there is music playing. I was very disappointed. I have better experiences in the bar area. The bartenders are wonderful.

    We have been to Frankie's several times. Each time the food is very tasty but the steak is overcooked despite what we tell them. The server is helpful in getting a new plate.

    First off,, Always great service here. But, we had 3- 20oz steaks,, ordered medium well, but came out borderline medium . Didn't have time for a redo. We there 1hr 45mins, with no appetizers...food was pretty slow coming out.

    This place cosplays as an exceptional steakhouse but upcharges you a lot for very below average steaks. Sea scallops were pretty good but would have expected more than three small ones for $30. This is Roanoke not NY lmao

    I’ve been to the Salem location a couple of times now once on business and once for personal. The quality of the food is first class. The service is first class on both occasions. The one thing that stood out is the ambience in the dining room, both my business colleagues And I found it difficult to adjust our eyes to the lighting in the restaurant. Can’t say I’ve had this issue with other restaurants. Maybe consider lighting on each table, candles, something versus what you are using now.

    My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner. It was a great atmosphere, clean, our server was fantastic and the food portions were enough to split between the both of us. We will definitely be going back and may even make this a yearly tradition.

    Outstanding evening and wonderful dining experience. My only disappointment is this location does not have a lobster tank, and thus cannot serve whole lobsters, only lobster tails. The Makers Mark Old Fashion was made to perfection, and the entre of filet/lobster tail was exactly as ordered. The other entre was salmon which was prepared perfectly. The sides included brussel sprouts which were delicious. The desserts were creme brulee and chocolate lava cake. Very good.

    We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. We waited two hours before receiving our meal which was overcooked and cold. Our waitress came to the table twice during the two hours. I’m of the opinion the kitchen is it understaffed, and the servers were not trained properly. They were all apologetic. My wife ordered a $99 16 ounce bone in fillet and we ended up with a 6 ounce fillet in a to go box. Our dining experience started at 7:30 PM until 10:30 PM in which we had a salad and onion rings. This includes the wait for them to re-cook the meal and prepare the to go portions. This is the second experience of an extended wait time to receive our meal. The manager did a good job of trying to correct the situation.

    Food was great, just a little overly salty on the sauces and sides, but in my experience, Frankies is always like this. Mushroom side and parmesan sauce for entrée were especially salty. Seafood perfectly done. Steak was spot on MediumPlus. All sides, except for saltiness, were excellent as usual. Drink plenty of water to counteract the salt intake. Service was lacking, esp for this level of establishment. Had to initially ask for bread, request was forgotten, asked again, arrived, ran out, asked again, arrived with no butter, ran out, asked again and after 20 mins, bread finally arrived just as we were finishing meal. Pineapple Martini was perfect, Scotch rocks had too much ice. Should look into offering frozen granite cubes to avoid dilution. Probably my fault as I should have requested the scotch with 1 cube. Water, sparkling and still, was refilled from bottles on table, but pour was nearly to the rim. Hate to be picky, but these are important things for a $400 meal. Would love if you carried San Pellegrino. Ordering was a bit stilted, not a smooth transition from initial welcome at table to drink order to follow-up for appetizers and ordering main course. Could have been a less experienced server, but need to have skills on point for a position in a restaurant like this. Training on a Friday night is not acceptable. At least 5 different servers rotated our table, very inconsistent. Everyone was friendly and smiles, thanks etc all around. Very welcoming. Small things: grease stain on my menu, about 2 inches wide. This isn't a diner. Glad we sat in the glass room. Main dining/bar area was extremely loud. Look into sound panels for the ceiling. May want to enforce a bit of dress code. Saw untucked flannel shirts and jeans, hoodies and ball caps. No need for a tux, but c'mon. Look presentable. Will return; hope things get better.
