I used to go to the Fox & Hound every Sunday for football games with our Patriots club and as many Tuesdays as I could for the $2 beers. I was a huge fan of the Fox, and the past few months has turned me into a non-fan.
Last night my wife and I reserved through OpenTable for 4:45pm. We show up, hidden sign we found said, "Seat yourself", so we did. We sat in a very visible, relaxing table next to other patrons. We were never once greeted or acknowledged. Waitresses walked by, even the hostess (we think) walked by and looked at us like we were aliens.
I've been with my wife for 4 years, and we did something for the first time: we left a restaurant. Even while we were leaving a server looked right at us, didn't even say sorry, be right there, thank you, have a good day, etc,.
I forgot to mention... it was not busy AT ALL. Maybe, 7 tables that had patrons.
But wait...
Best part of this experience... I still got points for "checking in" with OpenTable even though no hostess checked us in, no server knew we were even there apparently and OpenTable would not let me cancel the Fox's reservation, for a reservation to a better company that would know we existed, because we were 15-20 minutes in the reservation!
I don't know if the Fox is under new ownership or management, but this place is not what it once was. Previous experiences as of recent, the staff have been rude, ignored my family or large parties, or in this case last night pretended my wife and I did not exist.
Best tip I can give about this place: don't come here. Go to Rock Bottom Brewery where you will be acknowledge right away, receive good-great service and actually feel appreciated.
I'll appreciate the great times we've had at the Fox in the past, but now it is a complete joke and that absolutely sucks for me to say.
