An ode to fire and sea, Fort Oak delivers the bold, wood-fired flavors that define Chef Brad Wise’s signature style. Centered around a live-fire hearth, the restaurant offers elevated yet approachable dishes alongside a refined seafood and raw bar. Smoke is the through line - simple, high-quality ingredients are transformed by flame into plates full of depth and character.

Dry-aged ribeyes, duck, and whole branzino showcase the hearth’s intensity, while freshly shucked oysters and seafood towers bring a raw, briny counterpoint. And while the meats and seafood command attention, the vegetables have earned a reputation of their own - charred, caramelized, and layered with surprising complexity. Some say they steal the show - but that’s up to you to decide.

    I booked a table for 10 on the evening of Monday 4/28. Right from being greeted at the entrance to the end of our meal, we experienced nothing but outstanding service and even better food and cocktails. We had an amazing time and shout out to our server, Jeff, who accommodated our every need and was simply exceptional at his job. We shared a variety of food and we enjoyed every single one. Our table became quiet when food was brought out because it was that delicious! Standout dishes were the petite tower, the roasted carrots, branzino, pork chop and the 40 day dry aged rib eye. Oh and we highly recommend the Camaro Cocktail. Can’t wait to come back!

    Overall great experiences we really loved the space. They had a separate bar area and three main dining areas, one of which was an outdoor patio. The service was incredible and our waiter was very helpful and gave great recommendations. We were a party of 6 and so he helped us portion out our plates like adding extra items on dishes. Some of the dishes were on the salty side, like the lamb kefta, roasted carrots, and pork chop. Standout dishes were the chicken fried quail, caulini, ahi tuna tartare, and grilled oysters. The dry aged ribeye and Branzino were well prepared, but not impressive. Their cocktails were also very well curated (I loved the refreshing Fairlane cocktail, served up and the Prosecco they used was a syrup, which was very interesting). Gratuity is automatically added for larger parties. They are by the same family as Trust restaurant, which I highly recommend as well!

    Fort Oak offers unusually creative and savory food. It's worth the price. The service is consistently very good. My only complaint is the noise level. If you sit inside, which has nothing but hard surfaces, good luck hearing the person across the table from you. Decibel ratings are in the 90's. If you sit on the patio, it's still loud (How do they do that?) but you can hear the person sitting next to you.

    Outstanding food, service and overall quality. Easily among the best dining experiences available in San Diego. This is a restaurant where the love shows in the food and attention to detail. It’s the perfect mix of kitchen love without pretention or fussiness.

    We had reservations inside and asked to move outdoors because the noise level was so high we couldn’t hear each other talk. After we moved outdoors, our experience was lovely. We tried many dishes to share, the gem salad and the salmon. All of the dishes were full of flavor and the portion size was great. We also had the apple crisp for dessert which was scrumptious! Highly recommend with the caveat that the noise inside was really an issue for us.

    Very cool place. Service was extremely attentive without being annoying and food was excellent. Nice wine list. Everything we ordered was great. I would definitely come back.

    The brunch menu was unique and there's only 1 standard plate. The drink menu was ok, not a wide selection for brunch. Service was ok, nothing special.
