Chef Duncan’s techniques using fresh, local ingredients bring new and unusual flavours to Calgarians who seek new gourmet dining experiences. Imagine house-made charcuterie infused with crisp Asian spices and a room styled after the elegance of colonial Vietnam with some modern surprises.
Wonderful, yummy & thankfully gluten free!!!
Food was very tasty! The way they are plated and proportioned make each dish good for sharing! Brussels sprouts were amazing! Our server was great with helping us pick what to get. All staff members did seem to be a little flustered however, for it was busy for a Wednesday and there were only two servers, resulting in a slower service. Would love to come back to try more dishes.
Not a lot of selection for wine by the glass.
We had a condensed milk parfait for dessert which fell pretty flat. Nothing too exciting flavour wise and served in a weird red glass box which hides all the layering and isn’t too visually appealing.
I would recommend trying this place out with a larger group in order to be able to try more dishes in one go.
Wonderful meal. Will be back again to try more of the menu.
Always a great meal and they take allergies serious. Great people great food
Did the yyc 5 course meal. Wine pairing was phenomenal. Good on the sommelier. The braised beef was very tough and difficult to chew. Good flavor and presentation. The desert needs work. Felt like it was made overnight, left in the fridge and taken out and served. Bad ending to an otherwise good meal.
Food was delicious; service was good and the atmosphere relaxing. Honey butter chips were so good. First impression, excellent.
Got the 5-course meal for the food & drink experience event going on. The char siu pork belly dish and the poached lobster dish were amazing! Wish they were bigger portions though. The flavours in the 4th course, angus beef short rib galbi with turnip kimchi, wasn’t nearly as strong as Korean food usually is. The purée was quite good, but overall the dish was lacklustre. Would go back to try their regular menu!
This was the YYC food and drink menu and the food was absolutely awesome so much flavour and such beauty
Did the YYC Food and Drink Experience with wine pairings. Their menu was exceptional! TOP NOTCH. Service is excellent, pleasing restaurant decor. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Food was outstanding! Service was impeccable, our servers were wonderfully friendly and very patient when it came to splitting our bill at the end of the night. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a fabulous experience.
The Bao Buns, Duck and Brussels Sprouts were delicious, however the rest of the dishes fell fairly flat. Flavours were underwhelming for the higher cost.
The restaurant really lives up to its reputation. Thefood was great, the prices were reasonable and speed of service was on point.
We ate at Foreign Concept for the first time this weekend, and the food was very good.
The only thing was that, when the waitress brought us the check, we were surprised to have 16$ charged just for water (still I guess we should have paid more attention; I understand you want to charge sparkling water, but 8$ a bottle of San Pellegrino ? And 8$ a bottle of still water ? Sorry, but kinda feels like a rip-off...
Great Asian fusion food place. Will be back again .
Great food. Small portions. Extremely pricy
Wonderful food with a lot of unique options. The restaurant itself was quite lovely and not overly noisy.
Excellent service and food, as always!
Food is outstanding. Service was a little slow, but it was a busy Valentines Day. The price was a good value for the food, you should expect to pay for quality. The ambiance is less fine dining and more casual restaurant, but still nice to sit in. The tables are uncomfortably close to have a romantic dinner. Enjoyed our food immensely.
Dishes could be amazing if executed properly. Vegetables in the same dishes were all cut different sizes and shapes, it should be consistent theoughout the kitchen, and if chopsticks are the suggested utensil, then the vegetables should be cut in a proper way that chopsticks can easily pick up. Definitely over priced dishes for what you receive and the servers need to be more educated on the wine and wine pairings. The server poured a different wine in my glass mixing two different blends. The timing could be better, our first three dishes came out at extremely fast but we waited over 40 minutes for our next two dishes, at the point we lost our appetite and were ready to go.
Beautiful restaurant. Fantastic food! Crispy chicken appetizer and the pork with fois gras are a must. Great experience.
Food was great but service left much to be desired. Its been a while since we felt like we had to flag down a server, remind then of orders, or generally ask them for things. Other than that, definitely not child friendly, would leave the kids at home.
Love you guys!! Food was awesome! PBR’s for the kitchen always!
Always a wonderful meal.
My husband and I started with oysters and seared ahi tuna. Amazing, sweet, spicy, salty, savory. Tried it individually and all together, all together was the best. Squid ink pasta was so good and spicy, hubby had 72 hr sous vide short rib which was like butter it was so soft and flavorful. Each element was different and unique plus a stunning plate. Looking at the other dishes, we will be coming back and bringing the whole extended family as well. I have to try the trout that the table to my right had where I could hear the skin crackle, and the nori tapioca crackers with the tartare the table to my left had.
The food is delicious! The presentation is reflective of art, so beautiful. The atmosphere is elegant with service being very professional. Such a great way to taste fusion food. Loved it!
Unique food, cool atmosphere and great service. The pork buns were awesome !
Went here for my birthday. Everything we had from the menu was zelxiiousz
.good variety. Beautiful ambiance
I love the lend of Asian fusion. All my favourites, Korean, Vietnamese, blended with some North American mixed in. Lovely blends and flavour! Perfect portions to enjoy some appies and meal. You won’t be disappointed!
Amazing food! We ordered too much because it all sounded so good, but some how by the end there was nothing left. They made brusselsprouts taste good, need I say more.
Wow. What a fantastic experience!! Loved this place we will be back!!
Outstanding cuisine, professional service and great ambiance. What else do you need?
Amazing food!!! The waitress was very helpful to choose the best dish. Totally recommend the pork chop and the duck.
The decor evoked an Asian flair, as did the menu, with with dishes such as seasonal pickled vegetables and deconstructed bao. The dishes were well presented, and were of a good size, albeit plated on dishes more resembling a Scandinavian kitchen.
Foreign Concept was an intriguing idea with much potential. Great service, and clean. However, it lacked a consistency of theme, both for decor and menu, which would have otherwise made the restaurant superb. The music was also unfortunately too loud to maintain conversation.
The overall vibe of this place and ambiance was comfortable yet classy. The food was exceptional! I would highly recommend the Beets and/or the Brussel Sprouts as a small plate & the Trout dish as a main. I swear the Trout is one of the best dishes I have ever had! The small plates are great for sharing, but I do suggest ordering 1 large plate as your main. Their cocktails were awesome as well. I have no bad things to say about this spot.
Absolutely awesome meal, everything was top tier. So happy we chose Foreign Concept for our birthday dinner.
Food was good but like many other modern day restaurants, the portion size was pretty small
Great meal! Such innovative cooking!
It was fine. Menu was fancy Asian fusion. Everything tasted good but lacked veggies and protein portion was small for the price and compared to the amount of noodles.
Food was excellent, service was very good. Liked that although the restaurant was full, we could carry on a conversation at our table.
