Matched its recommendation.
It took us a few months to try this place after a friend recommended it. The squid ink spaghetti and the sous vide short ribs were perfect - the best we’ve had. The brussel sprouts had a very interesting flavour. All the dishes had unique flavours that blended well with each other. The mousse lady finger dessert was the perfect ending. We’ll be back.
Great food, nice ambiance. Love the location as it’s close to my apartment. Food came out in timely fashion as we had ordered several sharables
Went there with my date. We ordered multiple plates everything tasted excellent. The kimchi was incredible. We expected the bill to be large with the amount of food we ordered but it was very reasonably priced. The service was also really great. We will definitely be going again.
Exceptional food and service make Foreign Concept a must visit restaurant. It's Asian Fusion menu is filled with flavorful items and options of small and large plates. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and the restaurant is well laid out and comfortable.
Had a great time at Foreign Concept. Sharing plates allow you to try more dishes at one sitting and everything we tried had delicious flavour combinations. We'd definitely go back.
Our first visit to Foreign Concept and we were not disappointed. The food was exceptional - great taste and beautifully presented - and the service was excellent - great recommendations for plates and wine. We were in the smaller dining area on the bar side, and the noise level there was acceptable (a bit too loud for us in the main dining area). The side we were on would be nice for a small private party or business luncheon. Price was very reasonable. Will definitely come again.
Nicely laid out restaurant. Moderately loud with a great overall ambiance. Knowledgeable staff with attention to detail throughout the experience. Most of the dishes were well thought out with a focus on the flavours and textures. The real standouts were the trout and the imperial rolls. Delicious!
Dishes looks good, but all of the 7 dishes we order were too too salty...not healthy at all. VERY disappointed.
Asian Fusion Food done right. Highly Unusual layering and use of Asian spice or ingredients on familiar dishes. Portions for small butes and main dishes are sufficient. Good for sharing too. If looking for something different and non conventional yet workable sufficient quantity, highly recommend Foreign Concept.
Excellent taste and combinations. Creative dishes that were wholesome and appealing to the eye and palate.
Decor and location are nice. We were pretty disappointed in the food and wine. To command prices like that, everything should be fresh and done well - sadly, it was neither.
Awesome food and great vibe
Top notch, excellent food and service! Beautiful restaurant for any occasion.
A great menu with a solid selection of beers and wine too. Embiance is very good and the service was excellent!
We had the Summerfeast dinner menu. The food was good value. However dessert was lacking flavour and did not seem to up to the standard of the rest of the meal.
We also went with the $25 matching wine pairings and while the wine was excellent we found the food overpowered it.
At the normal menu prices I don’t think I’ll be rushing back but will definitely give them a second try sometime in the future.
It was a fabulous culinary experience in every way I will recommend to anyone who will listen
The food as always is great. We brought our foodie daughter in law from out of town and of course she loved it.
Please take recommendations. It was fabulous. Enjoyed the food and service. We were delighted. Tartar. Steam buns. Forbidden Rice. Yum. all the rest. Not too shabby.
This was the first time at Foreign Concept and the meal was wonderful! We had the summer fest for $25 that included an appetizer, main and dessert. It was great value for the cost. The portions were a great size and everything had exceptional flavour. I was disappointed, however, that when I was asked what type of water I wanted I was not made aware that my choice of sparkling was not simply a glass but a 750ml bottle of San Pellegrino... at $8!! Perhaps an option would be best.
Good food creatively done. Nice atmosphere trending a bit on the noisy side for get together but overall very pleasant.
From the friendly hostess greeting us and providing complimentary champagne to the knowledgable and excellent server and incredibly flavourful and diverse menu items - truly a great dinner experience and highly recommended. We were visiting from Vancouver and you would be surprised to hear that we currently don't have a restaurant with a korean/asian fusion influence at this calibre.
The squid ink pasta with lobster broth and seafood - it would be featured on my ‘BEST THING I EVER ATE’ show!
Our anniversary meal was really good! From shared small plates of salads to our entrees of trout and short rib, the food was great, service good and we could actually have a conversation without screaming across the table....which is rare these days.
Loved that the chef was out and about and stood by to thank us as we left.
There were six of us, we order 11 different dishes, and 10 were absolutely delicious
Had a business lunch on August 2nd. The food was amazing, unique, great flavors and they were very accommodating for me. I have a life-threatening allergy to eggs, and the whole team knew about it. The chef even altered the appetizers so I could enjoy them as well(egg-free).
The service was great and I will definitely be back to enjoy the lunch and dinner menu.
Overall I was impressed with Foreign Concept. Great ambiance, excellent service, and all of the dishes had a great flavour profile. The only issue was that 2 of our dishes (the squid ink spaghetti and the soy garlic brussel sprouts) were extremely salty. We shared between 4 people, so it was tolerable, but the dishes were less enjoyable because of this. I shared this feedback with our server and she immediately offered to replace the food even though we had mostly finished the dish. We didn't accept this as we had already finished eating, but the gesture was appreciated.
Food was very good, service was bad. It took so long to get food and one of the dishes was not what we ordered
Modern Asian Decor. Fantastic unique and creative cuisine. The short ribs are melt in your mouth tender and the lemon chicken small plate is to die for. Suggest you order rice with the small plate. So delicious. We will be back to try more of their creations!
Service, food and cocktails were excellent. Our server had great recommendations and we loved everything she suggested. Will definitely go back
Despite the restaurant being nearly empty and my partner and I having reservations, we were seated just next to the door. I understand this in a bustling restaurant, but not when it's nearly empty. The hostess did say, "I apologize for the door," but that doesn't really help all that much. There was also outdoor seating that was not offered as an option/not suggested on the website when I made the reservations.
The food was good, but the timing of the dishes was poor. We ordered three small plates and one large plate. The three small plates (tartare, bulgogi lettuce wraps, and carrots with goat cheese) came out all at once. We didn't even have enough room on our table to comfortably accommodate the dishes. Our server checked in on us when we had just finished the tartare, commented that we must have liked it, and then left our empty plate on our overcrowded table. After the small plates it felt like we waited a long time for our trout. I'm more accustomed to restaurants in this price range with a family style experience spacing out the dishes in a thoughtful way to complement the dining experience. The pacing was very very off.
The food was good, the drinks were good, the service was so-so. Nothing amazing, but good. The very loud couple of women practically yelling their conversation while sitting next to us didn't help things!
Excellent quality at a fair price point. Beautifully presented food.
Absolute outstanding food quality. The 72h short ribs were out of this world and the beat I've ever had.
I have been to the restaurant before and have enjoyed my meal. This time, my guest and I both had the spicy crispy chicken bahn mi. We were both disappointed - the chicken was dried out and over fried and the bun was stale. We did enjoy the honey butter chips and the pork steamed bun was delicious. I hope it was just a bad day in the kitchen because I will definitely try again.
Authentic and unique food, inspired by Southeast Asia. Everything was delicious and they have many Vegan options.
Consistently excellent food, great service.
Sad to see the tuna poke was not on the menu but the chef made us some; it is divine!
The sous-vide short ribs are a revelation. UnREAL good.
Went for lunch for the first time. Outstanding service and presentation. The papaya salad was very tasty and tangy. Had the trout and it was the best ever.
We went here for an anniversary dinner as we wanted good food without any drama! The food was delicious and unique. The service was fantastic, with extremely knowledgeable staff who could guide us through the menu and make suggestions. The food is unique and delicious; we'll have cravings for a few dishes! The Brussel Sprouts, Bulgolgi Spring Roll, Lemon Chicken and Trout were fabulous. The only dish we would not order again is the charcuterie.
Last night we tried Foreign Concept for the first time. The food was all great, especially the steamed pork buns and the trout. The only negative was the tables are pretty small for family style dining. We will be back!
Wonderful service, great plates and atmosphere was very comfortable. If I had to make a critique, the music was a bit loud.
We felt the food was mediocre and the large plates were still to small to share. On a positive note the waitresses were very friendly. The food was perfectly timed and the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant were very nice.
