Based on a strong recommendation from a friend, I Made a 7:15PM reservation for a Saturday, well in advance of a weekend trip in LA. We showed up on time and got seated promptly. Much to our dismay, we quickly figure out that we got relegated to the "back room" - a very poor facsimile to the main dining room - a flagrant attempt to maximize seating with zero regard to the restaurant experience. First, our party of five was seated at table with broken sleeves - four of us had hanging sleeves sitting on our laps. Strike 1. I complained, but was told there were no other tables available. We had two different uncoordinated waiters attempt to serve us - with a third explaining the specials for the evening and taking our order. Over the next 90 minutes we were served our food with zero appearance of the wait persons. Our medium-rare steak was well done, our duck was also over cooked. Our special Branzino for two, pitched as "expertly deboned" was full of bones. No one came to ask about the food - we were too hungry to complain - Strike 2. One of our wait persons showed up to take our dessert order. The desserts were quite good. Post dessert, we waited 20 minutes for the check - strike 3. After spending more than $500 for a sub-par dinner, I asked to talk to the Manager on my way out. I explained our experience - he made a nervous and insincere apology - about "your experience" with zero recognition/ownership that his team failed to deliver an enjoyable dinner experience. Don't waste your time here - there's way better places in LA.
It has been a few years since my last visit and was a bit disappointed that some favorites like the goat cheese tart was missing from the menu. That being said, the boulliabaise was delicious. The Fig & Olive salad was not what I remembered it to be, but one can never go wrong with a salad of fresh fruits, greens and nuts!
Our server was very knowledgeable and his support staff friendly and fun. We closed the placed down, so clearly a good time was had by all.
We celebrated our twins' birthday there on Saturday night. Our waitress was Fantastic. I wish i could remember her name-she was from Romania. She was super busy but still gave us great service. The food was awesome- i had the duck! highly recommend- ordered medium rare! She also gave us dessert on the house which was sooo good! some kind of chocolate cake and cheesecake. We will definitely be back for another birthday celebration at Fig and Olive!
It was a good place overall. Our waiter was really good at recommending what's best for our needs. Overall good experience. It was a little pricey though.
Great food, a little pricey and noisy. Been here before and will return.
Great ambiance and service. Loved the food. They gave us the pot of chocolate for dessert as a gift. Nice!
Good food and service. Limited parking for non valet. Price is on the high side.
Always great food, great service and an enjoyable evening. Our server was over the top fantastic.
Great experience, was there for Valentine’s Day / Anniversary. Was seated right away (with reservation), food and service was great. Loved the music (jazz), and as always the ambiance is truly romantic with beautiful decor.
One of my all time favorite restaurants in Los Angeles & Valentines Dinner didn't disappoint. Even tho it was a busy night, we were still seated immediately. Our server was amazing. Food came quickly, but not rushed. The food was fantastic as always & drinks spot on. We also got a nice gift, too! Btw, & I LOVE F&O dining room, so pretty!! Remains one of the very best restaurants in LA!
For $75 pre fixe, you can do a lot better than this place
Excellent choice for Valentines Day. Beautiful setting, great food, excellent service
We were a little late because of traffic. The oysters were great but super small portions. The rest of the meal including entree and dessert was ok. For the amount we paid it wasn’t satisfying. We paid for the ambiance basically. The service was good but they did stall on giving us the check.
It was very great, I wasn’t really aware of the prefixed menu so there wasn’t much to choose from. I don’t eat pork or beef and I wasn’t too fond of the Vegetarian option, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food that we had.
Upon entering the receptionist made a stupid joke. Upon leaving their valet only accept cash then the restaurant refused to assist and made me run around to go find ATM, not a good experience overall. Waiter is good and friendly, food is just ok nothing special.
