Fig & Olive - Houston
experiences, including an expansive 160-seat dining room, a 24-seat bar and lounge, two private dining rooms with full state-of-the-art audio-visual components, and a 40-seat al fresco terrace emanating a casual chic ambiance reminiscent of summers spent on the Mediterranean.
Service was a little snooty, but otherwise good for a place outside a mall.
Great service, great food, great company. The crostini was delightful as well as the cauliflower and the mushroom croquettes. My friend had the chicken tajine and cleaned the plate. Also nibbles on a apple tart for dessert. Yummy! Crispy, flaky crust and not too sweet
I loved the ambiance. The food was great but a bit pricey
My Hubby and I had an amazing time at Gig & Olive. Our waiter recommend the whole fish with additional scallops, shrimp and mushrooms as a side. The fish was so big we had to take some home lol. Every thing we eat was so yum. We will definitely be back.
We sat down and waited for service for 20 mins We told the hostess but to no avail So we left
Food not nearly as good as previous. May not go again.
The food at this restaurant was very good and the waitress service was very good.
But the price of the dishes is high.
Over $100 for is too expensive for lunch with two people.
I want to make an affordable lunch menu.
Appetizers and mains were B+.
Cocktails were quite average and quite expensive.
We dined at 7:45 on a Saturday. The venue was 70% full. The restaurant was severely under-staffed. Waiter was friendly but slow. Forty minutes later, the restaurant was 95% full. Our waiter was completely over-committed to too many tables.
The bar was worse. I ordered a second drink when we told the waiter to start our mains, and 20+ minutes later (after we had to remind him), the drink arrived. He apologized and said the bar was slow but I was almost finished with my main course by that time, so I left the drink.
Won't be back.
Enjoyed lunch. Started with a sampling of crostini (mushroom; manchego/fig; prosciutto) and all were super good. Both of us had the Shrimp and Salmon salad. Delicious. Cooked to perfection. Nicely dressed. Very very enjoyable lunch. And quiet enough to talk!
Short staff, food took some time to get out. Inside temperature was chilly. Bring a jacket if you want to enjoy your $$$ meal. Overall staff has many hats to wear, host equal chefs, server, and busboy.
Men was our waiter. He was attentive and knowlegable. We went for Brunch and had the French Toast and the Provencal Breakfast. The decor is lovely and elegant. My only little quibble is the restaurant is a bit difficult to locate from inside the Galleria Mall. But I look forward to going back for dinner.
Always a delight anytime we go into town to do some shipping we start our adventure at Fig&Olive. I highly encourage trying the signature salad the 18yr balsamic does not disappoint. Even if you are a regular salad kinda person, take a walk on the wild side and give it a try.
I booked appt at 7:45 pm but came but still have to wait 45 min before sit because the host had a mess up! Bad service there. When sitted have to wait 15min before the non experience waiter to come take order. During dinner the waiter hardly come over to ask to provide services. Overall horrible and wont be back soon!
Reservation was confirmed yet we had to wait an extra hour to be seated
I've had Fig & Olive for brunch with a friend around when it first opened. The restaurant wasn't super busy and I had a great brunch with great service, so, I was hoping it wouldn't disappoint for a Valentine's Day dinner. However, it did just that. I had reservations at 7:30pm, made weeks in advance through OpenTable. I arrived on time to my reservation, and was told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. My boyfriend and I didn't mind, we both knew that this Friday night would be a busier night. We didn't get sat until almost 8:30pm. So, needless to say, we were already a little annoyed considering we had a reservation and still waited near an hour for our table. Next, the food was okay. Our main issue was the they pre-set menu for Valentine's Day with a few choices. I probably should've called in ahead to confirm what menu they were serving, but oh well. My boyfriend and I both ordered the filet mignon. I ordered mine medium rare, and my boyfriend ordered his medium. Both of the steaks were undercooked. Mine was cooked a little more than my boyfriend's so we switched. But after cutting deeper into the steak to check, and finding it was still too rare (still pink and cool on the inside), he sent it back to be cooked to a medium. It came back barely any warmer. Was still too rare and red in the middle. At this point, we were both over it so we just finished our meal. The dessert was good, though.
Our server did not honor our request for wine pairing for the Valentine's Day Pre Fixe Menu. We only got two glasses of wine despite the number of courses on the menu. By the time we finally flagged down our server, we had just finished our dessert. He apologized and tried to appease us by giving us champagne, but we wanted wine instead. It certainly wasn't worth the expense of wine pairing.
We went for Valentine's... Reservation for 7:30pm and seated at 8:25pm with not very attentive staff. If anything they were rude about the fact that they were running behind schedule. The preset menu was underwhelming and choices weren't great. Wine pairing was awful unfortunately. For the price this didn't even come close to quality. The ambiance is really great - probably a better spot for lunch if you must go.
They try to rush through our dinner and food is cold when served.
Maybe - service was not good. Missed my coffee, disorganized.
Great place. Not disappointed after dining in NYC and Chicago
We all enjoyed our delicious meals and visit over lunch! The server was very attentive and helpful!
The food and service were wonderful. My only disappointment was that despite the fact that I indicated it was a birthday celebration no mention was made of that by the restaurant
J was a great server. The food was outstanding!
Been here a few times for lunch - first time for dinner and definitely not the last
Celebrated our co-worker’s birthday during lunch here. It was great! My only note is that the server was a little quick to judge on what we were ordering and assumed just the salad, soup of the day, and crostini’s was the meal, picked up menus and offered us dessert. On the other hand, Food was very good and presentation was beautiful once we did have our entrees ordered and served. We ordered Chicken Tajine and the Traditional Burger after having their side salad, carrot-ginger soup and crostini (forest mushroom, beef tartare, burratta). Server brought out complimentary dessert for the birthday girl! The chocolate mousse like cake was very decadent yet light and was a sweet ending to the birthday lunch. Overall a great experience and would come back.
Try the filet mignon entrée topped with scallops and shrimp. You won’t be sorry.
Celebrating my Birthday
We celebrated our friend’s bday party and we had a blast! Jarmone was very attentive and all his suggestions were right on target. It was a great meal from appetizers to the dessert. We will definitely be back soon.
We celebrated new year eve . Ordered beef carpaccio, foie gras, the famous crostini and whole fish! Loved everything. Great ambience. Fog and olive is my most favored restaurant right now!
Would have preferred to know we were expected to leave before midnight because of the time. When we made the reservation, we weren’t told, and they made it sound like if you reserved, you got to stay for a party, which was never really produced. We did get to stay, but the fact they rushed us through the meal took away from the enjoyment. They said this is a French restaurant, and no self-respecting French person would fly through a holiday meal in an hour. My ex and all his family are French. I lived there for more than a decade. If you’re going to put yourself out as a French place, which is what I searched for when it came up, then you can’t rush meals. It just doesn’t happen.
Thanks for the amazing service and being so nice about taking our picture by the beautiful flower wall. Can’t wait to come back here again!
Great atmosphere! Cute & romantic
Great place! Good food - cool atmosphere - super service.
Ambience , food and service and music combined to create a fabulous experience.
We ordered crostini, beef tartar, fish entree, apple tart as dessert. Enjoyed everything !
Amazing place for Lunch and have a break from shopping or intentionally enjoy good service; great to have a meeting or long meal with friends.
We were at a table by the door on a cold night so every time it opened we froze- asked to move but couldn’t.
Everything was perfect thank you
Very good and the food is delish!
Incredible atmosphere. Incredible food.
We were celebrating my dad’s birthday, my mom had ordered a soup that was never brought. We ordered a side Parmesan rissotto for my filet mignon, and they brought us a main dish Kobacha risotto. For deserts, we ask for a candle for the birthday boy, and it did not happen. All in, worst dinner at fig and olive in years
