Starting out I would just like to say that we had a good time, overall, and always plan on returning to Sparkman Wharf and the Biergarden. We had a great waitress, enjoyed our drinks, and enjoyed the nice weather while watching the Super Bowl outside.
On the other side of things.. Sparkman Wharf was packed beyond repair at the Superbowl. I kinda felt like this was due to the situation of having the Super Bowl in Tampa and having Tampa win as well, but also due to a lack of preparation.
We were a party of four who were Chiefs fans (3 were friends of mine that had visited from out of state). We had beer (fluid and cans) thrown at us at least 3 different times, had people surrounding us all around our sides and back (not what we were expecting from reserving a table in advance; under the impression we would be at least semi-distanced due to Covid and have a decent amount of personal space), couldn't hear the game/commercials/halftime show due to the sheer amount of people/noise, and cops ended up needing to be called to help with the situation (cop had to put his hand on taser to get the crowd to back up and settle down).
As much fun as we usually have at Sparkman (and tell everyone about Sparkman/Biergarden), if we were able to go back in time, then we would be finding somewhere else to go for this occasion. We were super bummed about the Super Bowl, partly due to being Chiefs fans and getting beat so handedly, but also due to us not being able to hear the game. We all have next to no idea on the pregame, halftime show, commercials, or any commentary during the game.
Food was marked as 1 star due to the Biergarden not offering food directly. There were food trucks nearby, although with the crowds we would've missed a good chunk of the game by going to stand in line and order and wait and then bring it back to the table.
