Farmstead is my absolute favorite restaurant in the wine country. Beautiful setting whether you dine inside or al fresco. Nice wine list. Love the beet salad, the trout, and their famous biscuits. My all time fav during crab season is their Crab Cobb Salad. My husband and I love to visit a few wineries in Calistoga and St. Helens and then stop for a late lunch.

So delicious- our favorite stop on our entire SF/Napa trip. Our server- Moses- was delightful. The food was totally amazing, and the atmosphere and decor was beautiful, comfortable, and trendy all rolled in one. Great outdoor patio for walk-ups, reservations recommended for inside. Loved it!!

We were advised to make a reservation weeks in advance , so we did it because on our previous visit to Napa we were not able to get in within 48 hours. The food was overpriced , the service was fair and the water glasses had mineral deposit stains making them look dirty !
Overall we were disappointed and couldn't understand the hype about this restaurant.

I was very impressed with this restaurant. We were in town for two days and researched the best places to eat. Out of all the places we visited, this was the best! Everything we ordered was outstanding. We enjoyed the chicken. I loved the ribs. The biscuits were to die for. The mac & cheese was incredible. I told the manager how impressed I was by his restaurant. The following night, we had dinner in at a fine Michelin rated restaurant. It was a good meal but Farmstead was better. End of story.....

We shared with the hostess that it was our 30th anniversary! We were treated to the best glass of brut... We returned to the shop the next day and bought a bottle and some Anderson Chardonnay. The clerk in the shop was friendly and quite helpful. We would definitely return!

On a trip to Napa for a wedding, stopped on way home to get brunch. Awesome food and service. Great location.

We had a lovely lunch at Farmstead. My daughter and my niece were both pregnant and the restaurant was very good about answering their questions re: cheese and food. The restaurant actually steered them in a different direction after checking with the kitchen/chef. Thank you. It was a very hot day, but it was cool and pleasant inside.

My husband and I had a great lunch at Farmstead. We went for brunch and arrived before our reservation. We walked around the beautiful grounds and garden and had a look in the shop. We sat outside in the patio area, which was beautiful and felt private. We recommend the cheddar biscuits! They were so delicious. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent too. This restaurant was a favorite of ours from our weekend away.

Excellent, fresh, and healthy food options, very nice atmosphere, and friendly / knowledgeable wait staff. Though not very busy for an early dinner at 4:30 PM, the service was a little slow - I think that may have been due to the transition from lunch staff to dinner staff. But, nonetheless, a very good meal! I hope they have lamb on the menu next time. I've heard it's good there.

The hostess graciously let us take a few minutes in the store and be seated about 10 minutes after our reservation time. Everyone that came to our table was cheerful and polite. Our server was wonderful and helped us make the right choices on the menu. The food was amazing — cheddar biscuits - yum! and all of our entrees were outstanding. There were a lot of people in the restaurant but the noise level was low and it was easy to hear each other talk— a big plus!

Do NOT miss the opportunity to dine at Farmstead in St. Helena (CA),
Should be in the Top 5 in Napa Valley.
Fried Chicken ( Tuesday nights) was sensational . Chicken was tender with light, crispy crust, not overly seasoned. Creamy mashed potatoes, the Gold standard. Bread pudding dessert the perfect ending. YUM!

My third trip there and each time better than the previous. Great service in a perfect setting.
Do yourself a favor - FARMSTEAD/St. Helena.

We came here for my birthday and were quite pleased. The drinks were very good (Bees Knees and High Thymes), and clearly made with style. The food was definitely comfort food, and made me feel like I was getting a solid taste of Napa. We started with the Beef Tartare and the cheese plate. Dinner was the gnocchi, and California rice. Finished with some amazing beignets. Only point off was that the wine was kind of boring. A Pinot was recommended which was just bland grape juice. The Cab was slightly better, but still underwhelming. Stick with mixed drinks if you come! That aside we will definitely return, and I will continue to recommend this to my Guests at my hotel.

Thanks for the raw pork chop!

To be fair, 90% was cooked well but there was a portion that was raw, not undercooked, RAW. This was not run of the mill "close to the bone" raw, it was "still oinking" raw. Mistakes happen in kitchens and I get it, but the real problem was both the waitresses and a manager's response when I pointed this out.

Their response was not at all apologetic, or wanting to admit a mistake. It was more of a tone of, (i) well the chef can grill it again and (ii) oh it was just close to the bone. The appropriate response is sorry that was a mistake. I've eaten alot of pork chops in my life, and I know the difference between medium-rare-close-to-the-bone "raw-ness" and "THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SERVED" raw.

This comment is un-related to the above (and just borderline mean) but Farmstead as a concept is a complete cliche of a California farm to table restaurant. Pure tourist fodder. Many better place to eat in Napa.

Nice outdoor seating though.

The food was delicious! The entire place is amazing - even the bathrooms were adorable - and we enjoyed strolling the grounds after our meal. We really loved the gardens and all of the various spots to hang out. If we were local we’d be back again and again.

Every bite was delicious! We ate at Farmstead for lunch between wine tastings during a recent trip to Napa Valley and it was definitely one of my favorite meals of the trip. We sat on the beautiful patio and ordered a few small plates and an entree to share. I will certainly go back on our next visit and will recommend it to my friends!

The service here was lacking. Luckily the food made up for it. When we arrive there was no one to seat us. When someone finally noticed they seated people who arrived after us first. Once seated it took along time before we were acknowledged or had our order taken. The food though was amazing! We had the the biscuits and gravy & chilequiles. Both were good and finished with the beignets. Check in on yelp for free cheddar biscuits

must have reservation for delicious food. we love the biscuits, deviled eggs, chili, and meatballs. we have a tendency to repeat the good stuff. our friends had a few other items, which I have to pass on in future. we shared and a good time was had by all

Third visit, separated by several years. This visit, for dinner, was as awesome as the first! Middle visit was good, but server not great so distracted. We brought our own bottle of wine, and my husband had his favorite Corona. Everyone in our party enjoyed their appetizers and meals. We sat outside and it was warm at first (5pm) but became very comfortable. Hope we are able to come back sooner!

We went to Farmstead for lunch. We started with the Mexican Corn. It came on the cob which was a surprise but it was tender and flavorful. Next we split the fried green tomatoes, beef meatballs and barbecued pork. All of the food was great! The staff was friendly and welcoming!

Like some of our other favorite places, Farmstead seems to be challenged right now to hire, schedule and/or train people to deliver the kind of service I know they want to deliver. We had a good bartender, and the food was delivered in the restaurant by friendly and knowledgeable people, but our hostess and server were completely indifferent. Love this place and I know they can do better. A little more hospitality, a little less ‘tude, would be a good start.

We had an outside table which was wonderful as it was quiet and we could talk. The food, however, was not so good. I had a roast beef sandwich that was dry and tasteless. My coleslaw that came with it was also on the dry side and difficult to chew. Perhaps the cabbage was too finely cut. I would love to see more big healthy salads on the menu as that would have been my preference. The only salads on the menu were a green with strawberries and a kale salad, neither of which appeal to me.

A must visit for us in St. Helena.

Atmosphere is phenomenal and so were the oysters and deviled eggs as appetizers. The main entrees this time (Meatloaf and Ribs) were a carnivore's delight. Gotta try it...you won't be disappointed.
