Located on the famed St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, Delmonico, the legendary, century-old institution, is an icon in the restaurant industry and has been a cornerstone of traditional Creole dining since 1895. Reopened by Emeril Lagasse in 1998 after an extensive historic renovation, Delmonico continues today serving a modern style of Louisiana's Creole cuisine with Emeril's warm style of service in a grand setting.

    Emeril would be ashamed. The filet mignon was supposed to be medium rare. It was beyond medium well. The waiter offered to replace it, but we had already waited 45 minutes since finishing our salad, and I did not want to eat in shifts with my wife. Her bar-b-qued shrimp was so far below standards for New Orleans - e.g., Mr. B's - it was a huge disappointment. The waiter was very nice and seemed to realize the entire meal had been a disaster. The manager took the steak and shrimp off our bill, but I would have rather had an enjoyable dinner on Valentine's. We rectified matters the next night by having a perfect dining experience at GW Finn's.

    No Banana Fosters. Book a 3 day mini vacation around this dining experience to include airline flight, upscale hotel, etc. Failed to impress.

    The food was pretty good but not memorable. I didn't love our table which was upstairs in a corner next to a busy hallway. I ordered the veal chop which came underdone but I didn't complain. My husband ordered the NY strip medium rare. It came out raw, sent it back and it came back slightly less raw so he ordered a filet instead and the came back a bit over done. They took it off our bill but it was a very expensive meal and just not worth it. The service was good but less than stellar. Our friends had lesser issues with their meals and were generally pleased. Our share of the bill was $360 including tip. We would never go back. For the money we spent we expect a fare better experience.

    Our server and ambiance was fine but the entrees took way too long to arrive—about 30 minutes after our appetizers. It was a disappointing evening and we would not recommend the restaurant.

    Although we have had good results in the past, this Valentines Day visit was ruined by a piano player with an overhyped mic and a supercilious manager who treated our request to turn things down a bit as a personal insult. We had to flee the headache-inducing feedback without dessert. If you want to drop $250 listening to a pianist who thinks background music should be foreground music and be patronized by a manager who needs a trip back to hospitality school for retraining in customer service, this is your place. But we won’t be back.

    food was amazing as usual. servers were really nice and one recognized us from last time and was very friendly. very nice experience and service was great for how packed it was (valentine’s day)
