I watched our server regularly attend to the tables around us with her back to us. We would have ordered more drinks and even gotten desert too if it wasn't so difficult to get the attention of our server.
I've never been to Denver, so when looking through restaurants in open table, this one looked great.
We made an 8:15 reservation with the hopes of getting there early to grab a cocktail and watch the sunset from the balcony before dinner.
The hostess told us that they used all bar seats for regular reservations, so that would not be an option. She did however, say we could be seated early. So we went upstairs, were guided to our booth, and stared at a very empty bar. I was hoping for a great table right by the windows because I made notes in Open Table that I was celebrating my 40th bday that evening. Didn't happen.
My group is pretty easy going, so we just decided to start slow with drinks and pace dinner out from there. Be warned- there is a 90min limit on your table, and they definitely let you know about it. Drinks took a while to get to us because it was a very busy night (even for a summer Tuesday). The waitress seemed a little annoyed that we wanted to order so slowly. I get it- I've been there, busy night, you're in the weeds, etc.
Anyhow, the actual drinks, food, and atmosphere were spectacular. Aside from the fact that it was a very warm night, and with the doors open and a crowded house... I was literally sweating through my dress.
So if you go, just know- it's a very popular spot a d they will be extremely busy.
From the waitstaff to the host; everybody was great. Food is thoroughly amazing
The service was really slow. We ordered a glass of wine before our Paella and it came out as we were finishing. We were seated in a busy area and the waitress only stopped by if she was walking by and seemed to remember we were there and pick up something. We weren't really given attention that would normally be associated with a restaurant such as this. That being said, the food was really good!
Amazing staff, food and atmosphere! Highly recommend.
Very small portions and mediocre food. Expected better after dining at other restaurants by this company.
Fantastic brunch and the atmosphere and view is stellar. We look forward to trying your tapas for dinner in the near future, would love to see them added to thr brunch menu.
I had friends in town from Phoenix - loved the food!
We had an incredible experience. The food was so good. The service was over and above. Definitely a gem.
Everything was amazing!
Awesome tasting Tapas! City views, mountain view’s, edgy -fun ambiance. Wine and tapas were mouth watering. Will definitely recommend.
Service was very good, however a little on a slow side. Same goes for food, very good but not excellent. I do recommend El Five, you will not be disappointed.
Our first dining adventure at EL FIVE last night was spectacular in every regard, including lucking into a spacious parking space on the street directly across from the restaurant.
From the Burrata Di Puglia we began with instead of something from the appetizer list, to the utterly amazing Eggplant Fries, to the Moroccan Lamb Sausage, to our final item, the delightful and distinctive Seafood Paella --- everything was memorable and prepared to perfection. After discussing our wine options with Josh, our terrific waitperson / server, we chose a bottle of Greek wine, a white from the Santorini area, and it was ideal with what we ordered.
No room for dessert but next time, it'll happen.
The paella requires 45-60 minutes prep time so the timing of the serving of other items was important, and Josh did it to perfection. He and the others staff members made sure about our water, our wine, clearing completed items, and generally touching base to see how we were enjoying our meal......at a table near the windows facing downtown Denver.
For us, only our second dinner out since Covid began, the evening at El Five could not have been better, and while it's not an inexpensive meal, we both felt it was an investment in fine dining for items we do not and cannot prepare. A great night.
Food and views were so good, our main server was not so good unfortunately. Asked for a couple things that never came, like ice or a soda. Had to walk up to the bar and get it myself.
We did have a lady drop off the paella and she was the only one who explained the dish when dropping it off.
one of the other staff engaged with us at all besides taking the order and picking up empty dishes.
Beautiful view, tasty and creative food that was a bit expensive given portion size, cool people scene yet as old uncool person I felt okay there. Server felt a bit stiff amd unfriendly for such costly food but was mostly efficient and hosts were good.
Would not recommend for vegan/vegetarians. Vegan options we had were ok. Drinks were better than food. Service and vibes were 10/10 though.
We had 5pm reservations so it was not too busy. It took a long time to order but the food arrived quickly. It took almost 45 minutes from the time we were presented the check to the time we could leave. We had to grab a manager to have someone facilitate the payment. The restaurant did not appear to be short staffed. The appetizers were fantastic. The seafood paella was just ok - very fishy tasting.
I would recommend for the ambience and cocktails
Unfortunately the website wasn't updated to clarify that our reservation was made for a time when ONLY the brunch menu was available. However, despite the lack of tapas-sized options, the brunch food was equally as delicious and the full bar menu was still available.
Great brunch and service , we will be back !
Loved it. Want to try more!
We enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch. Beautiful drinks and views. Colorful presentation of dishes and a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The garlic shrimp is a must!
Great food views and service will be back
Great View on balcony.
Was Just Amazing for my wife an I.
The staff was wonderful especially Nathan and the other bartenders!
This was our first time dining at this restaurant. You must make reservations way in advance as they are alway booked! We celebrated our anniversary here and the paella was incredible! We sat inside but there are also a few tables outside and there is outside bar seating. The atmosphere is vibrant and our server was wonderful!! We had a fantastic experience and we highly recommend!
Celebrated our 35th Anniversary! Everything was PERFECT! Table for 2 at the corner of the patio to see the sunset over downtown Denver. Food was great especially burrata salad and sea bass and pasarela cocktail. Service was superb. Highly recommend!!!
We sat outside and ate delicious and aesthetically pleasing food. Our service was outstanding.
Every bite was delicious and the view was fabulous.
Bad experience. They repeatedly told us we only had 90 minutes per their restaurant COVID rules. Ok. We’re post pandemic and there aren’t restrictions anymore but every restaurant gets to make their own rules. BUT also because of pandemic they closed the kitchen and bar less than an hour after sitting. Further, the charged a “pandemic fee” of 10% that did not go to the server.
Never eat at this or any of their price gouging restaurants again. Root down, linger etc.
Love El Five.
Always amazing food & ambiance
El Five is always fantastic. My only complaint is that we had reserved a table outside MONTHS in advance, and when we got there, they told us that they couldn't seat us outside. Kind of frustrating but overall, still good.
Great place friendly staff, great views and food.
Awesome food and views
Delicious food and drinks and amazing ambiance! Best restaurant with a view!
Carl was the best server, brunch was killer!
Outstanding restaurant. We loved every dish and enjoyed the beautiful view.
My wife and I loved the seafood paella with scallops. The croquettes were also tasty. Really cool atmosphere with the view.
