First time to visit (didn't know this place was here) and it was excellent! I hope to return again for lunch & dinner (we went during Sunday brunch).
Staff were attentive and very friendly.
Nice and spacious
The flavors are amazing. Because I was raised in the southwest, close to the border, Mexican dishes are my comfort food. The dishes served here are authentic but with a contemporary flair. I will return again, and again. Actually my whole family loves the place.
Our go-to for upscale Mexican. Chad is an excellent server; very attentive and fixes any issues. Chimichanga was the best I’ve had: not over fried, not too heavy. Provided complimentary birthday churros—again, the best we’ve had. And best guacamole we’ve had on Federal, which really says something!
We had great service, great happy hour, great drinks, great ambiance. Nice huge windows that almost makes it seem like you're outside which is much safer during covid times. Will be back!
We are thrilled you survived the shut down. Having Mexican in the the neighborhood makes us all happy and it's great Mexican to boot!! :)
Service was very pleasant and thorough but slower than normal —. Only one server on duty??? Kitchen seemed slow - Lunch took over an hour.
Seriously one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. Such a disappointment for restaurant week. Food came out like cafeteria food, chicken was seriously a Tyson breast with painted on grill marks. Food was cold. Service mixed up orders. Disaster
We walked in for our reservation for Denver restaurant week. The host sat us at a table in the middle of the dining room and were not spoken to for 15 minutes (keep in mind, our reservation was at 7:30pm and the restaurant WAS NOT busy at all.) After 15 minutes I went up to the bar to ask for some service and some waters. When they finally came over after about 5 minutes they told us that all of the entrees for the Denver restaurant week were sold out and there was nothing comparable on the menu. Our waiter did not try to offer us anything else to make up for the lack of urgency getting to our table. Our server seemed to be very over worked and was trying to do a million things at once. As we got up to leave, a waitress named Val tried to make it right by offering complimentary drinks as we wait for our food but at that point we had made our minds up to go somewhere else. We are not so worried about the lack of supply for the entrees as we are the lack of urgency and service, especially when the restaurant wasn’t busy. We may or may not be back, depending on how much time we have to wait to be served.
Waited over an hour for food. Also very noisy and uncomfortable chairs.
we went for restaurant week. After we sat, they said they sold out.halfway through the meal, the restaurant ran out of limes? It’s a Mexican restaurant how does this happen. Poor planning
Service was slow. The food was ok. Overall mediocre Mexican food. There are too many places in Denver that have better food and service to give this place anything other than. Meh.
We went there for the first time for restaurant week. It was outstanding from beginning to end, food was superb and so was the service. We will definitely be back!!
The food was excellent. We had a good time. The service was little slow. we got our appetizer before our drinks. However they were very busy so it was understandable.
We had a lovely Valentine’s Day family dinner.
Most delicious salsa ever. The deviled eggs are to die for.
Great margies. Crispy tacos good but isn’t homemade. Great for any occasion!
Went to El Cazo on NYE and the impression was that they were not out together. Restaurant was a quarter full but there were tables and places at the bar that were filthy and still had dishes out. The lighting was way too bright with spotlights everywhere. Other patrons asked if the bartender could dim the lights and that wasn’t an option at all. It seemed like there was only one hustling waitress working and she was great. There was no host/hostess so when we walked into a restaurant that was overly bright, vacant and dirty it seemed like they were actually closed but forgot to lock the door.
We dined here New Year’s Eve. Despite the restaurant being only one quarter occupied, they were clearly understaffed and the service slow. In fairness, our server comped us a drink because of the slow service. Unfortunately, when the food did arrive, we all found it to be just ok - somewhat on the bland side, lacking much in the way of spices or excitement. The restaurant is large, with a pleasant ambiance, but with bland food, we probably won’t be back.
Fun atmosphere. Fresh guac and food. Attentive service.
Neighborhood parking (permits) and limited parking is challenging for all of the restaurants in this block.
It’s a great neighborhood spot for your favorite Mexican offerings, some items are atypical fare so read and ask for what you want.
Fresh ingredients, nuanced spicing, and varied menu make this someplace you’d want to come back to. Excellent!!
The food is fantastic—the roasted salsa is delicious, I love their tamales, and the soft chili relleno is the best around. We’ve gone there a number of times in the last few months and service has always been great.
Great service, our server was so sweet!
The food was very good and loved the layer of flavors from salsa and chips to dinner dishes. The churro was very dry and disappointing, but the ice cream served on top was great.
Food was pretty good. So were the drinks. But the service was so slow. They seemed pretty understaffed.
Friendly weight stuff. Lovely presentation. Overall very tasty food. A bit pricey.
We were completely impressed with El Cazo. Great food, outstanding service and loved the ambiance. Will definitely be coming back!
Nice variety of drinks and bar menu with great food and solid service. The lunch specials are a good value and both of us enjoyed our meal.
Great dinner. Not crowded on a Saturday evening. Open area to the street so you could feel a cool breeze. Carnitas was delicious. Queso fundido was outstanding. Happy hour prices were a deal until 6:00. Highly recommend.
Service was amazing!!! We had the best experience. Food, margs & our waiter were all amazing! Great happy hour!
Great Herradura skinny margaritas - made with fresh lime (not that imitation sour crap) the best we have had in Denver1 Food was great too - fresh and not oversized portions overloaded with cheese - table side guacamole was excellent - this is a great addition to the Jefferson Park neighborhood !!
Great food and atmosphere. And not that much more expensive from the places all over Denver and the burbs that lack any positive qualities other than their food.
Dear guest, thank you so much for taking the time to leave this excellent review. We really appreciate your business. Please let us know what we can do for you in the future.
Had dinner with friends and we were not disappointed! The guacamole and queso dip were amazing! We each shared fajitas and they were very flavorful and yummy! The house margaritas were also very tasty! We will go back again!!
Capzoo, thank you so much for this review. We really appreciate you helping to share the word about us. We’re here for you anytime.
Es Fuego! The margaritas are fantastic as are the fajitas. Highly recommend the Chile Rellenos as a delicious vegetarian option!
Arman, thanks for your great review on us. Next time you’re here, you should try one of our salads and the new Fried Ice Cream! We hope to see you again soon.
Always nice to find a good casual new place to grab a bite. Nice people, live music. Enjoyable evening
Food was OK but the ambience and location are excellent.
The service was terrible. They had 1 person working the entire restaurant on Cinco de Mayo. We waited for 40 minutes without drinks or ordering and eventually left to eat across the street.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at El Cazo. The food was fresh and delicious, the ambiance was classy, and the servers were friendly. We'd consider making the hour drive to Denver just to eat here again.
Delicious meal in a very nice space. Excellent service, ample portions and fair prices. We highly recommend El Cazo y Cantina and we will return. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. You wont' be sorry.
The food has a unique flavor. Can't wait to go back and try something different from the menu.
