Food was outstanding, with innovative menu, ingredients, and presentation with generous portions. Wait service was adequate, but not engaging, or supportive to sell the food --- did not contribute to the experience nor match the quality of the drinks/food. Water and plate service was solid. Overall, not as engaging an experience as 1 year ago .... sadly, will give second thought to returning in the future.
Everything about this restaurant is exceptional! Service is fantastic! Food is incredible! It literally is our go to place for every occasion, each together with friends. Tom, Cale, Charlene are just a few who create an evening to rave about! Love Love Eight4Nine!
Delicious food ...great attentative service . Scallops were great although I wish it was more than 3 on the plate. Would go back
So, 849 came highly recommended. What a disappointment. We've been in Palm Springs this year for 10 days. We've dined out in 10 different restaurants for dinner. If I were to rank all the places, from 1st to last, this would definitely be last. While the service was great, the ambiance just fine, the food was simply horrible. How many people can ruin chicken? Well, needless to say, it was not good. I would not recommend 849. Sorry.
Beautifully appointed space, excellent service and truly exceptional meal prepared to perfection by friendly Chef Owner Daniel. A memorable meal at the only place in the Coachella Valley serving 100% organic, local, sustainable dinner cuisine. We will return often. Do not be deceived by the location.
Fun vibe, excellent food and service.
Beautiful presentation and delicious flavors...like always.
849 is always a delightful dining experience.
The management and wait staff always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and valued.
Great ambiance, aesthetically pleasing, very good food and excellent service. My niece and her husband, who are very special to me, were visiting from London and they were impressed. It couldn't have gone better.
I ordered from the pre fixe menu - avocado toast, skirt steak and creme brulee. All were excellent and good value. My husband had watermelon gazpacho and chile relleno. Again, both were very good. There is a nice wine selection. Our only complaint is the noise level. It is a very lively place! We will return but will try the al fresco seating.
UPDATE: All made good.
Within hours of my posting my initial scathing review, Willie reached out and offered to make up for our disappointing anniversary dinner. We stopped by for lunch that same day and boy are we glad we did. The Cuban and Chicken sandwiches were great but the Mango Baked Alaska Bombe was everything we hoped for and such an amazing tribute for our 24 year anniversary.
Service was incredible and we are planning our next visit to Palm Springs to include another Eight4Nine meal.
Morning, I am extremely sorry that the Baked Alaska was unavailable to you this weekend. As you can see we have Hundreds of 5 star reviews so customer service is very important to me. Please accept my apologizes. I have spoken to the pastry chef and the Baked Alaska will be available today. Please join us for complementary dessert & Champagne to celebrate your anniversary. Write to me at Willie@eight4nine.c to make arrangements or call 760.325 8490.
Whimsical and delightful for a fun Sunday Brunch. The Bloody Mary is out of this world-- with Crispy bacon. Lobster Roll Benedict, yes please. Everything was fantastic!
In town from
SF TO celebrate 2 friends birthday with an early brunch! Service was A-1! I can’t remember our servers name-agh! But he was great. Answered our questions, knew the menu well, made suggestions! Perfect!
This was our first time here. We had a reservation and decided that we wanted to come early. The staff was very accommodating and got us seated right away. The food was excellent and the service was also wonderful. We will recommend this restaurant to friends and family and also go back next time we are in town.
We had such a wonderful experience on our first but definitely not last visit ......Edgar went above and beyond for us. Patio seating was so inviting and comfortable....food was amazing .....can't wait til next time!
Food was served to us literally in minutes after ordering. Both of our dishes were cold, tough and mine in particular was inedible. The ambiance had potential. It’s a loud space but good vibe. Perhaps they just messed up our meals...
MattW, I am sorry we messed up. Please email me and let me know when you dined, I want to make sure this problem is resolved immediately. I'd also like the opportunity to make it up to you and show we can do better. Please right to Willie@eight4nine.c..
Really cool place. Food was very good and the service was excellent.
A great place to celebrate any ocassion. Us, we celebrated our anniversary. We can say we are regulars now at 849!
Great venue with excellent food and outstanding service. Lovely ambience and would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Palm Springs and looking for a special venue.
Excellent evening. Monday night so on the quiet side. Jaw dropping decor. Like eating inside of a sculpture. Every little detail accounted for, including the hue and intensity of the lightbulbs. Food flawless.
A great dining experience always!
We sat outside and enjoyed escaping the noise inside the restaurant. The food was well prepared, served hot, and really delicious.
Wonderful food and may great areas to dine in!! The bar area and outside are my favorite places to dine!!
Fabulous! Excellent service, great menu and delicious food.
Great experience. Awesome cocktails and the food never disappoints.
Stylish, modern, comfortable atmosphere. Great staff. Great food, quality, serving size. I only give 5 stars when at least one course of the food catapults my taste buds into an exhilarating soaring into outer space experience, so much so that one forgets what one was talking about because one becomes overwhelmed by the orgasmic taste sensations that literally take over one's consciousness. Admittedly such dining experiences don't happen very often. That is not at all to denigrate my experience at 849, I will go back - great food, great service, great ambience, but no 5 star.
So, I’m rating the service at 3 stars to include the chef’s preparation of a meal with wine reduction after my guest requested that it not be included as she is allergic to sulfates. Our waitress said that she had “just spoke to him” about not preparing the dish with the wine reduction sauce and, therefore, couldn’t believe that he would include it. She brought another dish within about 5 minutes and said that they already had another one prepared, which may be true but it seemed a bit suspicious and we were concerned that the wine reduction had just been wiped off of the meat. We were probably a bit too paranoid about it, but that’s what happens when a meal is delivered to the table before confirming that it meets the requests of the customer. I also felt that we waited a bit too long before our first drink order was taken. Other than that, our meals were delicious and our waitress was delightful.
First time dining at Eight4Nine. We had deliberately avoided it the last couple of years fearing it would be too trendy and popular but with mediocre food like nearby Trio. What a pleasant surprise to find that when friends asked us to meet them there for dinner it was such a good experience.
Service was excellent, food quite good... enormous portions - we took a fair amount of food home. We will definitely go back. Interior is really pretty and imaginative.
A wonderful place for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food.
100% ! The food was delicious, Delia our server was a breath of fresh air, and they were so accommodating! The ambiance is perfect for anyone, the space is welcoming and the staff went above and beyond! Get the pork chop if you like pork, it was delicious!
Extremely nice restaurant. Knowledgeable servers and excellent food.
Our experience was top notch! We got to tour the rooms and had an AMAZING cocktail before we were seated for dinner. Our server was beyond gracious, fun, and wonderful. Charlene (sure hope I am spelling her name right!) gave us a perfect night with amazing accommodations to foods and recommendations for wines to pair with our meal. We LOVED this spot and so grateful we could experience this in Palm Springs. Might just come back for this restaurant alone! Come check them out. The Brad Pitt photo in the bathroom is just the icing on this fine dining cake.
Food was good and everyone except our waitress was very friendly. She was short and unfriendly until very end of the meal.
Always run into friends at the bar
And even when crowded the room is quiet and relaxing
I thought the dinner and food was good however it was very rushed and almost seemed like a chain restaurant or a fast food place . Otherwise the service was very good and lots of staff.
It was my birthday and it was perfect. The place is just beautiful!! Very unique!! The food was excellent. They really know how to celebrate.
I love the openest of the bar area and the intimacy of the dining area. Also loved the collection of ceiling lights. Just a overall wonderful dining experience. And of course the food is never disappointing.
Met a friend for lunch at this fun, swishy spot. Through the doors and met with the smell of garlic and truffles. "Is this heaven?" It was a quiet day in PS- 108 degrees + and waning summer season, so the place was scant with diners. In a way, this was a jackpot, because we could really see and enjoy the décor. It reminded me of The Viceroy in Santa Monica many years ago, when Kelly Werstler brought the retro Hollywood kitsch design idea into vogue. It made me want to don my kitten heels, Prada coat, Fendi baguette and play "Sex and The City" with cosmos, all over again! LOVED it! Food? Uh...YEAH. We'll be back. I had the frittata- GREAT. My mate had the veggie burger. We shared the Peach Mango Baked Alaska dessert. As a person who generally believes it is not really dessert unless it involves chocolate, I was incredibly impressed and did not leave wanting... Need to go back and try the menu items still in my mind's queue!
Amazing service from reception to server. Every dish was prepared with the uttermost attention, very well presented and tasted divine. Fresh and top quality ingredients.
I very much appreciated the server. She was very nice, provided essential info about the meal and recommended the blackberry-cabernet sorbet that was a real pleasure.
Steak was over cooked
