Steakhouse
With Echo & Rig Chef Sam Marvin has introduced a pioneering new concept transforming the long-held theories behind the steakhouse formula.

We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.

A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.

Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.

We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.

4 of us enjoyed our dinners. The apps were excellent. Service was impeccable. The manager came to speak with us before dinner. The only issue I have is that I was assured that the Branzino was wild. I have had Branzino aka Loup de Mer in France and also in Italy where it is called Spigalo. I used to sell fish so I know that Branzino is farmed in Connecticut and Crete. I don't think the fish I had for dinner was wild.

Ok, this was my first visit to Echo and Rig, and it was a bit underwhelming. The best part was the service, which was outstanding, they did a great job and knocked it out of the park. The Food: Seemed burnt and overcooked, and not that great. The food itself wasn't great, and everyone in my group shared the same opinion, (Wish the cooks would take a little more time on preparing good food. They also include chips with almost every entree. When I mean chips, I mean potato chips, yes and they cover 1/2 the plate. How about Mash Potatoes or something else. Sides were good, not great, we ordered Mac and Cheese, Burnt Ends (these were the best), Broccoli and Asparagus, and a Crab Cake (Please let the table know, it's just one Crab Cake (having to split this among 4 people wasn't fun and we would have probably ordered more).
Ambiance for a steakhouse, definitely too bright inside. Consider toning down the lights for a better experience. Overall enjoyed our time, because we had a fun group of people and the great service. I can't imagine we will go back though, because at these prices, I expect higher quality food.

Impressive bar, great bar man!

Where were the anchovies? A caesar salad in a hotel without anchovies? No explanation that they're swimming upstream in the supply chain?

A request for black tea is not a request for Earl Grey tea. The two flavors are very different. Earl Grey has a heavy flavor which some are allergic too. Please carry plain black tea. Many people can't drink coffee.

The room was pretty cold for a brunch. We've eaten outside in Sacramento for brunch throughout the pandemic, and the temperature wasn't much warmer in this restaurant. Who needs 20 foot ceilings without interesting interior design,

Panna cotta was sublime. Will be back for that!

Service was spot on, friendly without being coy.

Kim was lovely and the burgers were fire! Nothing beats a good in house juicy burger. Only complaint is that my brothers 30 dollar plate was looking skimpy whilst my 15 dollar burger was clearly better.

We were there for our anniversary, and everything was perfect. The food was delicious, our service was amazing. One of the managers greeted us just to say happy anniversary and introduce herself. Our waiter Zack was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They even gave us a few things for free as a surprise for our special night. I very much appreciate the wonderful experience we had and will absolutely return again! Thank you Echo and Rig!

It was a rather odd experience. Original waiter was not having it! Actually left after ordering, which was jarring! After that the service was great, the manager on duty made up for the awkwardness for sure. I would rate the comeback a 4/5 stars just a rough start for sure!!
Stephanie, Kim and Tim killed it!! Thank you for turning our night around!!

A little disappointed. A few buddies and I went there for out annual Christmas burger and martini. We all ordered the Prime burger Med rare, they came med to med well, no pink at all. We didn’t send back since the high fat content (a good thing) keep the meat juicy, Eve though over cooked. The burger was smaller than the bun, a big mistake for such a high end steakhouse. One of us asked the waitress for a salad, just some greens rather than fries. She said she would have to ask, it might be $5 extra. For a $15 burger. The drinks were great on the plus side.

Maybe the steak is a better choice.

Just poor service at seating, took forever to serve us. Forgot to give us bread and offered it to us at end of meal. I usually like this place but they had a bad night for some reason. It was embarrassing to us because we had guests from Atlanta who eat out regularly and was a little disappointed in Sacramento dining experience. At least the crab cakes were good though

This is a very loud restaurant, there is no division between the bar area and the dining area, and conversation was very difficult. As a party of 2 we were also seated in a banquet that could have held 4-5 people. Ambience was off as we were seated next to the kitchen. The cocktails were terrible - tasted as if they had been batched, and a mix used instead of fresh ingredients. Not worth the $. Also server never asked if we would like another, or asked if we were ordering wine with dinner. We had held on to the menu for this purpose. Didn't get our wine order filled until half our meals were gone. Manager tried, as he originally took our drink order, and must have known service would be slow, as sent out a complimentary Bone Marrow app. Food was very good, cooked as we ordered. Only complaint is that the Mushroom Soup was luke warm. My wife as a former certified food preparer was concerned about the holding temp. used by the kitchen. As a whole, a disappointing experience.

Perhaps the best filet mignon I have ever had. The green oriented appetizers and small portions were excellent. The drinks were well made and generous. Despite doing a brisk business, the service was most attentive. The manager voluntarily stopped at our table to solicit our well being. It would be impossible to imagine a better quality of both food and service.

Disappointing. I wanted to take my husband out to a new steak house for his birthday. Service was slow and the waitress didn't reach the reservation notes that it was his birthday. The manager knew when we arrived but that did not translate to the server.

The filet was flat, as if it was cut in half and the shrimp cocktail tasted old (meaning the shrimp were soggy).

My husband said food was ok but that he would not go back.

Initially very slow to be seated despite a reservation and many open tables. Obviously, a staffing shortage with more tables than servers.
Once seated, however, the service was attentive and welcoming. Food was prompt and excellent albeit on the pricey side. Will definitely return if we want to subject ourselves to the challenges of DOCO traffic and parking issues.

A dining experience to remember. A long hair was in my food, and the manager said "You won't be paying for anything." They brought a replacement steak, even though I said I didn't want it, they insisted the chef wouldn't take "no" for an answer. Ate what we could, and as we were walking out, the waiter asked if "we intended to pay for our check," implying we were trying to dine and dash. We called the manager to ask for clarification and he said that the "you" referred to my individual order and not the table, even though both our evenings had been soured. I have zero issue paying, but what I do have an issue with is their poor communication setting us up to look like dine and dashers on top of the mediocre food.

As far as the food - meat was good (one steak was cooked well even though we asked for medium) the chips that came with the steak were tragically under salted, the mashed potatoes were oddly sweet and had too much cheese, and the the portobellos in the fries were somehow undercooked and tasted like raw mushroom.

So 1 star for the drinks, which were the highlight of the meal.

Sutter's Steakhouse in Folsom is a better steakhouse.

Almost everything about Echo & Rig was fabulous and we HIGHLY recommend it! However, do NOT go on an evening when there's an event at the Golden One Center - the noise from rowdy fans in the bar area spoiled a romantic evening a bit. (It's one huge open room, thus the sound is magnified...) Other than that, it was a stellar experience.

We went here for a "last date" before baby and the service and food were excellent. They even gave us a free dessert to celebrate. Unexpected and totally appreciated! We went early (4:30pm) so there weren't many people there. We'll definitely be adding this to our date night rotation.
