With Echo & Rig Chef Sam Marvin has introduced a pioneering new concept transforming the long-held theories behind the steakhouse formula.

We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.

A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.

Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.

We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.

Brought my son from out of town to celebrate his birthday because we were confident he would experience the same outstanding experience we have in previous visits. Needless to say he was mind blown! Service -attentive wait staff, drinks, steaks, & sides were prepared to perfection. He suggests the pork belly ends & the fried spinach salad! Coming here is always a treat for us and we love every chance to partake here.

Yes, we Have been here twice and we have had Great Food both times. Everyone is very Friendly, our waiter this time needs to slow down. He was speaking so fast we had to ask him to repeat and one person in our party asked him to slow down. We had a drink in the Bar. We had a drink in the bar and the Young lady that was working behind the bar was so sweet and very knowledgeable, The Young man we talked with first was condescending. Overall love the place and will continue to go back.

Enjoyed some very good seafood. Service was OK. Had to wait for the hostess to finish chit chatting with guests in front of us before we were asked if we could be helped. Then had to wait several more minutes for someone to seat us. The restaurant was not that busy. The meal was worth the wait, for a steakhouse, the seafood and the meal overall was excellant

Coran our server was great! It was our first time here so we were well informed of what they had to offer and he even gave us a little background about the restaurant. He was very attentive. All staff was attentive as well. The food and service was phenomenal. We just had trouble looking for parking since there was a game that night, otherwise overall experience was a 10. We would definitely go back again.

Our reservation was for 5:45 pm the night of an event at Golden 1. We did not get seated until 6:20 pm. The restaurant did not plan for groups that decided would hangout after dinner and have drinks while they waited to go over to the Golden 1 closer to the time the show was starting. Next time I would plan for it myself or go somewhere else.

The food was excellent and the server was knowledgeable and a good server. The wait time was bad. We had a 5:30pm reservation and they couldn’t seat us until 6:10. We were late to the concert.

Loved the service and the food was amazing!
I had lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries on top. My friend has cinnamon French toast and it reminded her of her childhood.
We will both come again!

It was a first year anniversary, and we wanted it to be special. This was a perfect place to go. Dion was amazing and made our evening that much better. We recommend Echo & Rig to anyone looking for delicious food and quality service.

Enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner for my parents. Steaks were cooked perfectly. The garlic chips the steaks are served with were delicious! They brought us each a bowl to share a few sundaes for dessert. Dion provided great service!

The lighting is awful in this restaurant and really detracts from what could be great ambiance (and whats expected of a steakhouse). Fluorescent overhead lighting is not welcoming, warm or comfortable for diners. Besides that, great food & alot of variety and great service from our server.

Honestly, not thrilled. The noise level was really awful. The orders were screwed up with us having to ask for things that we ordered. And REALLY, seriously?? A $40 steak and it comes with POTATO CHIPS? WTH? The steak, once I sent it back because it was raw, was good and they did comp 2 desserts for 4 of us, but with the noise and the hassle I just can’t recommend this place.

A special Valentines weekend occasion that turned into a soured evening:

For a 4+ star restaurant, this was surprisingly bad: The receptionist wouldn’t look me in the eye and couldn’t find my reservation placed through OpenTable, and refused to immediately see me otherwise, even though there was ample availability/tables around the restaurant; I was seated in a corner without windows; my server didn’t assist us till 10 minutes later; Our order must’ve been served nearly half an hour later when we are on the cusp of walking out for waiting so long; our steaks were both cooked at the incorrect temperature/levels, both rare when we requested medium and medium rare respectively; and to be honest the flavor wasn’t great, not for the price certainly; so one steak was taken back to be re-cooked longer which for whatever reason took an additional 20 minutes by which time my steak was cold waiting; remember that the restaurant wasn’t even full and shouldn’t have had such slow service; then the server never asked us subsequently how we were doing so I had to track her down by foot across the restaurant for an additional 5 minutes to ask for the check which at which point she eventually had enough sense to offer a complimentary desert which at least a small gesture but also wasn’t particularly tasty. All worth $175? Not at at all and I would appreciate being contacted by the restaurant to make this right...this was meant to be a special Valentines weekend occasion that turned into a soured evening...

We waited in a line five tables deep just to check in at our reservation time. Then we had two steaks, both very tough (left half of mine on the plate--no desire to finish). The waiter did not take our wine order until our steaks were already on the table. Then when one of us found dregs at the bottom of our glass, the waiter took the glass and brought back a fresh one with a one-sip pour--insulting! The ambiance was very standard/uninteresting--like eating at a West Elm in the middle of a hotel lobby. All of this for prices that far exceed Sacramento norms. We could have eaten a delicious, multi-course meal at Kitchen for less. And give me a steak from Taylor's over this place any day. I will say that the vegetable sides were delicious. So if you are a vegetarian and want a quick bite at the bar before a Kings game, I suppose this would be suitable for that. Otherwise, skip it.

Hostess said no available tables until 10 (1 hour) I booked on open table for 9:15. There were open tables and plenty of servers. Took until 9:35 to get seated for our new 9:15 reservation.
After seated took nearly ten minutes for the server to introduce herself. Another ten minutes before she came back to take the order. Food was fantastic. Well priced. Server watched the kitchen staff serve the plates and immediately asked how we liked everything. It was just put down in front of us. Had to flag her down to ask for the check, I stopped her from leaving while I looked at it because I didn’t know how long it may take her to get back. That server was the weak link. Bar server while we waited was great, food was great.

My wife and I felt like we were bothering the server, she was not to to be bothered. never showed us the different kind of steaks. I ordered a ribeye rare and the wife a NY strip. They came out with 2 NY well done. The sever brings the manger over to tell me its a ribeye and because I cut into the steak I ha e to pay for it. Smh. We will never be back the Kimpton should be very ashamed.

Great service, great food. We came for dinner and came back for brunch. Dinner was beyond busy...so glad we had reservations through Open Table. AND...no corkage fee for wine. Unbelievable. Alejandro was GREAT at brunch. Highly recommend.

The staff seemed unorganized for a typical Valentines Day dinner. We arrived early for our reservation and were told to stand to the aside while they prepare our table. 30+ minutes later, we’re still waiting and watching other people with later reservations get seated before us. After I reminded them for a 3rd time about our reservation, we were finally seated.

Other than that, everything else was great.

We had to wait 20 minutes after our reservation which was annoying. But after we sat down our server Kim was so delightful and helpful, she gave us suggestions since it was our first time there. The food was delicious our steaks were cooked perfectly,. If your a meat eater this the place to go. After it was all said and done Kim's service helped us over come the 20 min wait.

I recently brought my girlfriend here to celebrate her birthday. We started with the Cauliflower, Pork Belly Burnt Ends, and Portabello Fries. All were delicious, especially the cauliflower! We then went on to order the Bone Marrow Carne Asada and Ribeye (medium rare, of course) along with the Brussels Sprouts and Mint Pesto Gnocchi. I was not a huge fan of the mint pesto, but that is more of a personal preference than a reflection of the food's quality. The steak was cooked perfectly and sliced to share. The bone marrow was rich and decadent. We also ordered two alcoholic drinks each. I tried the House Old Fashioned and would not recommend it. I almost always order an old fashioned to start dinner and this one, in particular, had an overwhelming bacon smokiness to it (to be fair, our waitress warned us of this). My second drink was a draft beer and my girlfriend had the pear martini and a glass of red wine. I did not try the wine, but the pear martini was delicious. They brought out a complimentary dessert at the end, which was nice. The total came to about $160 pre-tip. Overall, I would certainly return.

We made reservations for a specific time in order to have time to attend an event. Unfortunately, they sat us late and then had some trouble figuring out where to seat us. Tried to seat three people on a two top. We ended up feeling rushed due to these delays. The food was excellent!!
