About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
  • Good for groups
With Echo & Rig Chef Sam Marvin has introduced a pioneering new concept transforming the long-held theories behind the steakhouse formula.

We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.

A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.

Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.

We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.

Echo & Rig is not only a classy, elegant restaurant with a classic steakhouse feel, it is an educational experience for steak lovers. In addition to the traditional cuts found in most steakhouses, the extensive menu also has cuts on the not usually found at the butcher counter or most steakhouses. The staff is skilled at guiding you through an enjoyable dinner from start to finish. Everything is phenomenal; this is a great place to experience high quality cuts cooked to perfection and complimented by amazing dishes, delicious wines, and great service.

Overall, the food was terrific. The Bib salad was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. My medium rare lamb chops were perfectly cooked. My husband's skirt steak arrived at least Medium-well instead of medium-rare as ordered. Our waiter recognized this immediately upon looking at it, and took it back to the kitchen right away to have it replaced. My Panna Cotta was Heavenly; perhaps the best I'd ever had. The bread was absolutely delicious, but the labor intensive white spread squeezed through a pastry tube was clearly uncolored marjorine & neither of us could stand it. The bread deserved 100% butter sans the effort to disguise. The Noise level was off the charts; perhaps it wouldn't have been so overwhelming if our booth had been a bit farther from the bar. It wasn't a matter of being "lively". It was about not being able to carry on a conversation, with everyone in the room, including your huge staff having to raise their own voices to be heard. As a designer, I hope you will seriously consider adding some heavy textiles or carpets to absorb some of this.

Located inside the Kimpton hotel in Sacramento. Large local with a big bar. They offer a variety of cocktails and a decent wine list for all the budgets. It took a while for the server to approach us to get the order going. The food was good, but the sauce came cold. I didn't like that the server kept crossing over my plate when reaching to deliver or pick stuff. Overall, I think it is a good place for.the value

I have no idea what is happening with this restaurant. It used to be my go-to spot, but the last three times I have been there, I have been very disappointed.

Christian at echo & rig was amazing kept checking up on us about our first time experience and really made it feel great. He answered all our questions and gave us suggestions about the cuts. It was delicious the best steak house I have ever been too and at a great price for what you’re getting. The sides were amazing as well and I cleaned every single plate I had. I would recommend this and thank everyone there for making my anniversary with my wife and I amazing.
