   For some reason, I can always sit back, relax and pause everything at the 1849 bar after a day of doing absolutely nothing here in the heart of Waikiki. On my last night, barkeeps Audrey and Jordan kept me consoled while the Lakers basically were swept and humiliated by the Nuggets. But then downing pints of ice cold CoCoWeizen brewed by Honolulu Beerworks and snacking on a beautifully prepared and fantastic tasting Rainbow Roll by the dedicated folks in da back really made my night. On top of the super sushi, the kitchen crew served up a perfectly grilled USDA Prime cut of filet mignon so juicy, tender and rare, just the way I like it. Truly one of the best steaks I’ve ever enjoyed!!! And their crispy fries are something to brag about too. I strongly recommend Roy’s Eating House and its staff’s outstanding hospitality for all events and occasions, for locals and visitors, even to impress a first date!!’

   First time dining at Eating House 1849 and it did not disappoint! Everything was fabulous, from the decor, to the staff, to the amazing food. It’s on the pricier side for sure, but if you can swing it, it’s definitely a “must go” when in Oahu!

   Great attentive service, good food. The only disappointment was they sat us in probably the worst table in the entire restaurant right next to the bright fluorescent lights of the kitchen. Tried to convince us it was a great table but it felt like we had been banished to the naughty corner. To be fair they did move us on request to a much better table at the front of the restaurant that made the whole experience much more enjoyable.

    We went here for our one year anniversary, everyone was so kind and the food was amazing. We got the egg rolls, paella and the tenderloin short ribs. To drink we had the lychee martini and the friendly fire. Everything was perfection.

    Food & service was excellent, however, we would like to note that our entrees took EXTRA LONG to be served last night -- not sure if it was because of Mother's Day? Please consider adding the raspberry panna cotta to your regular dessert menu - we would definitely pay for that dessert - delicious!!!

    Excellent service from Savannah and Sebastian! Food was delicious and plentiful. Savored the seasoned edamame for starters. We ordered the pork and crab pillows and the crispy Brussel sprouts for appetizers and I would recommend them both. It was Mother’s Day so the restaurant was very busy and had a special menu for the occasion. I had the seafood bake which was more than enough for lunch and took home the rest for dinner. The crab cake sandwich was popular in our group. We ordered the Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé when placing our entree order so it would be ready.

    Nice fusion of seafood and flavors and decadent presentations. It's a shame this place is hidden on the third floor of the International Marketplace. Plenty of seating with a retractable roof. Other than the car alarms going off in the parking area near the restaurant... this is a very nice place to dine for brunch and the dinner menu looks lovely.

    We visit Roy's restaurants frequently. The Eating House 1849 is a favorite. Our waiter Jordan and assistant Allison were very attentive. Service and food were great. We celebrated my wife's birthday and she was provided a desert. We will be back!

    The food quality got so bad the last two years that we will never return and never ever recommend this place again. A few years back we went to dine here once or twice a month. The last few times it got worse from time to time until yesterdays visit. The ribs were cold and not even cooked. The crab wontons tasted like a few days old and reheated. The hamachi carpaccio tasted sooooo fishy we had to return the dish. This place was high quality a few years back which you also can expect with appetizer prizes well above the $20 range. Yesterday it felt like a very bad tourist trap! Beer out of a can and another one stale. Overall I would give even less than one star just because the price of the food in relationship to the quality is so bad. At the very best it is the quality of a regular strip mall restaurant and even these are better quality than this. Moral of this long story, You won’t see us ever again! This is also my very first review and I felt I had to write it to inform future guests to may consider different. When this place was rockin‘ you also weren’t able to get a reservation less than 3 weeks out. When I looked yesterday at 5pm it had plenty reservations available and I should have thought of why that would be.

    Celebrated a belated birthday dinner with family. Started around 4:30 pm to take advantage of Happy Hour pupus and drinks, then rolled into dinner. Initial service was a little slow. It took about 10 minutes for drinks to arrive, then another 10 minutes or so for the food. However, dinner arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, so that was a plus.     The best first impression…went there for my birthday during happy hour on a Saturday. From the greeting from the hostess, then CJ our waiter (exceptional) and Sebastian (exceptional busboy) and the others spot on Awesome serve!!! We ordered all the small plates to try everything…the food was delicious and pleasing to the eye. The decor of the restaurant really nice and we always appreciate convenient parking places.     Super disappointing service. Waited for 20 minutes for someone to come to our table. We were shamed for not knowing we should have viewed the menu on our phones. Brought the dessert menu with our entrees and came back before we were half finished with dinner to ask about dessert choices. Not the type of service I expect at this price point.

    We enjoyed our meal so much we went twice. We have the brussels sprouts with aïoli to start, we got on that plate down fast! I had the yellowtail with risotto and burre blanc sauce, and the coconut crème brûlée for dessert. Outstanding! My husband had the swordfish the first night and the yellowtail the second night and loved both of them! The staff is amazing and very friendly. Probably one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at.in Honolulu or Waikiki. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back! If you do go, ask for Jared’s station. Best waiter!

    Love it Love it! Had an enjoyable night. First of, the restaurant is located in the top floor of the International Market. We arrived at 5:30pm and space is an open expanse, a perfect way to enjoy the Hawaiian weather. About an hour later, the Pergola slowly drew shut. Food is very good too! Had the *Ume Glazed Grilled Pork Bao: yummy but pork belly is a bit salty and too fatty *Half Dozen Oysters: oysters are huge, had to take it in two bites. Delicious *Kampachi Crudo: love this love this love this dish. The tri caviar added texture and flavor to the sauce *Plantation Style Paella Rice Stew: I came upon seeing this dish on the menu. My absolute favorite *Kampachi/Grilled/Ginger Scallion Soy: fish is fresh and flaky Surprised us with a panna cotta dessert with lilikoi syrup. A perfect end to a hearty dinner Will definitely be back to try Roy Yamaguchi’s other restaurants

    This was my first time dining at 1849. It is a great addition to the Roy's family. I decided to try it while in Honolulu for business. I sat at the bar which has the full menu. Some of the dishes are off of Roy's other menu's but with a more playful twist. The bartender's were great and very attentive. Truly a great Roy's experience.
