Great place! But a bit expensive and will come back for special occasion only.
Great food and server (Josh) .
A must for all visitors to Waikiki. Delicious,,
Excellent service, food, ambiance. Will return.
Excellent food and service! Open air dining was great since we’re still dealing with COVID.
Very friendly and great service. Good is fantastic. Love this place.
Great food! Wonderful atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant.
Good but nothing from other world.
Great experience on my daughter birthday.
Eating House delivered a most enjoyable outdoor dining experience. The food was excellent, the decor very appealing and the service was attentive. I have not been disappointed by any of my dining experiences at Roy Yamaguchi restaurants. I have enjoyed Humble Market Kitchen on Maui and Roy’s of Hawaii in San Francisco. The Butterfish is superlative at all three restaurants.
Can’t go wrong with any choice on the menu- we ordered a plethora of items and it was all fantastic! Loved the outside/inside environment, even though it’s kind of located within some shopping, we didn’t mind that at all. The staff was so kind and attentive to us. Portions are huge for the price, overall fantastic value. Will definitely return!
Service and food were excellent. Pineapple Martini and Lobster black truffle ramen were delicious.
I have always had a good time at this restaurant. I’ve been there three times, for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Service was prompt. Food was really good and portions were substantial. I ordered too much for dinner. The spacing between my table and others was good for social distancing. Staff wore masks and asked for my id and vaccine card before seating me. I would not hesitate to eat there again.
Overall a Great time. Made a reservation without issues. Not rushed. Ordered a bunch of food eaten family style - very accommodating and tasty! Wait staff was busy and professional. Noisy from parking garage car alarm going off - not in control of restaurant. A little noisy in background at times making conversation hard to hear at points not all the time. Would go back.
Good service and great food
Outstanding service, food was excellent! Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and patiently answered questions about the preparation of dishes. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. A lovely evening, would highly recommend
My hubby and I went Thanksgiving for the pre-fix menu and everything was fantastic! The service was amazing!
Our whole dining experience was excellent. Food was exceptional, very fresh and tasty. Our server Josh was so personable, five ⭐️, very knowledgeable about the food offerings and attentive. Will surely come back when we’re in Oahu.
Kudos to the whole staff, great job!
Went here with my husband after he had a previous amazing experience. No complaints at all. Happy hour drinks were strong and yummy. I had the sundown supper special which came with an appetizer, entree, and a dessert and every course was 10/10. My husband got the unagi burger which was also incredible! Highly recommend this place.
Hugh menu. Many nice fish dishes
We spent our anniversary in Hawaii. Whenever we booked a reservation we noted it was our anniversary trip so that we’d get nice seating to enjoy. All other restaurants obliged with great, like Tommy Bahama, Anacino and Hula Grill. This place sat us next to the parking garage. The other places were kind enough to also surprise us with a free dessert with “Happy Anniversary” inscribed across. Not here. The food was just ok, but we had much better in places mentioned above. The overall service was good by the staff, but our server seemed to disappear and rely on other staff to check on us. I just can’t recommend this place for their lack of effort and just not experience oriented.
Great place and excellent food. Loved it! I'd definitely eat there again.
Fantastic food and phenomenal service. Great dining experience guided by our server, Cassidy.
Clams were amazing as were the pork & crap pillows. And that’s just to start.
Even the host staff was amazing.
If I’m the area, book a table and enjoy.
My 2 cents.
Service was amazing and food was tasty. They did a great job accommodating our 2-year-old by bringing out a complimentary quesadilla and veggies while we waited for our meal. I loved the complimentary edamame. The ramen was delicious.
They were out of items..the ambiance was sub par…the food over hyped & over priced m…even for Hawaii. Better options around.
Service a bit slow. Brought entrees and we had no silverware. Had to get it ourselves. Food was very good.
Been here before. Returned because of the food and menu selections. The food was expertly prepared and fresh. The noise level was a little louder then in previous visits. The staff did an excellent job of following Covid-19 protocols.
Excellent service and food. We have eaten at other Roy’s over the years and this place is just as good!
Absolutely outstanding meal with such GREAT SERVICE! Thank you Sasha along with her team for making our evening so wonderful! We will be back!!
We had great happy hour and drinks. Food was wonderful and decent portions for the price
I love this place. The food was delicious and great service. However, we requested to sit outdoors when reservations was made, but the table we were at had the sun shining on us at 4pm. We asked if we could sit one table w/4 chairs in, the hostesss said no, it's reserved for someone else. We were the 1st and only party at the restaurant. That wasn't very accommodating and nice. It was uncomfortable, while the sun was shining in our eyes, once the sun went down, it was fine.
Food not that great was not impressed
We live in Waikiki and have frequented the restaurant many times. We have never been disappointed - consistently great food and friendly and professional service. The open air ambiance is a plus. Dinner began with a complimentary Umi Glazed Grilled Pork Bao appetizer and ended with fabulous chocolate soufflés. In between those bookends were more appetizers and some fabulous fish entrees. All in all, it was a sublime feast.
We came to the Eating House 1849 for an anniversary dinner. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had one of the specials that included an appetizer, two entrees and dessert. The appetizer included oysters but we asked if clams could be substituted since we did not like oysters. The chef accommodated our request. The entrees were a seafood risotto and a filet mignon steak topped with a crab cake. Both entrees were delicious. Dessert was a chocolate soufflé that was decadent and a great finish to an excellent meal. We plan to return to the Eating House on our next trip to Honolulu.
Can safely report to Roy that his Eating House 1849 is running on all cylinders sailing full steam ahead into the Waikiki sunset. Hostess Mifi working the front was so nice and friendly even though she had to Covid screen the many folks arriving for the 4pm Happy Hour kick off. Sat at the bar with Jamie “Everything Gonna Be Alright”, a haole dude with dreadlocks, mixing some mean vodka tonics. Helping him was Ronnie, a veteran server and a sweet professional. From the bar, I could view the entire floor and watch how the 1849 crew were enthusiastically taking care of their tables and customers with exceptional teamwork. There was a nice mix of local residents and tourists which is a great sign of Eating House’s success. Recommend the HH Kalbi-style chicken skewers and Burger&Beer combo. Plus the Caesar Salad with Japanese umeboshi/pickled plums was truly innovative displaying outstanding execution by the back of the house. Live music just made the evening even better. Dwayne was the manager that evening so got to give him a pat on the back for running a superb operation and making my day!
One of the best dining experiences of my life. Will always cherish it. The manager Duane and server Shannon were beyond exceptional in every way. The food was so delicious and satisfying. Highly highly recommend this incredible restaurant!
From the moment we arrive, we always feel like family. Gretchen was so warm in greeting me and very efficient at reviewing my vaccination card. Everyone always made sure our water glasses were filled, napkins and necessary and clean utensils are in place . . .. We never have to ask for anything. Shannon was just wonderful making sure everything was taken care of and our meals prepared to our liking. There are so many choices on the menu, which varies by day of the week, that even if you dine frequently, there's always something different to try. As always, it was a perfect evening after a hard days work. Duane always stops by during and after our meal and we cannot praise him and staff enough for the wonderful job they do. We frequently dine out, and the staff here is second to none. This is always our favorite place and they never disappoint.
We had a gift card and we decided to use it at Roy Yamaguchi Eating House 1849 restaurant. They were very accommodating with my wife’s celiac disease which requires gluten free items….someone from the kitchen even came out to ask her about cooking pans. Food was great with no problems.
The server Shannon was also extremely accommodating in every way. Checked several times with us about our meals. She was very pleasant and helpful.
Excellent cuisine, relaxing setting, good adherence to Covid protocols. Would definitely recommend and go again!
Love the food! outdoor seating was great! love
the happy hour menu.
