I don't usually leave reviews but overall we were disappointed in the food quality. We ordered sushi and it was definitely below par. Our server did his best but he was very busy. I was taking my college son out for dinner - after not seeing him in awhile - so it was quite a disappointment.
Service was slow. Had to repeatedly ask for the same things over and over before we received. (Basics like wasabi and soy sauce)
Server was friendly, just inefficient. Food was fine, nothing great, but fine.
Great experience, haven’t been there since almost 8 years ago. Food was still amazing great experience like it was 8 years ago.
Our waiter was amazing, very friendly and reliable. The food was amazing and we didn't have to wait to much to be seated. Overall, we had a great experience and will be visiting again and again!
Good food. Jennifer the server/bartender was great.
We did the Valentine's Day special, the second time we've done it at DF, the first time at the CWE location. As with the first time, the experience was good, especially for a couple married 36 years and looking more for a good meal with good service at a good price than for a romantic evening for two. If you're looking for romantic evening for two, then DF is not the place. The close proximity to neighboring tables and the noise level are not conducive to romance. The food was great, the value was good, and the service was good despite a few hiccups (our entree arrived minutes after our appetizer but before our soup and salad). The menu description on line and on the menu itself was misleading about what your $119 bought you exactly. Luckily, the portions and the preparation made up for it.
Good, glassware had cracks in it or had chips. Food was amazing!
Always great food and drinks!
The food was very good, however there was very little room to make changes to menu items and the noodle bowl we ordered without onions, carrots and cabbage came with all three minus the opposite ingredients. The Lobster Spring roll and sushi were excellent. I would say our server was a little defensive. We really had no complaints despite the inability to switch things up. A solid 4 and easily a 5 if they become a little more flexible. However the entrance is in a mall. That’s hard to deny from an atmosphere perspective. Inside is very good.
We had a great date night at Drunken Fish. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had Chicken Katsu. We plan to return.
A delightful dinner before a show at the Westport Playhouse.
Jen the server was really rude
Great menu! Good food.
Great food. I don’t feel they had a enough wait staff. We waited quite a while to get drinks and to order.
I’ve dined at the Drunken Fish a few times but I was very disappointed tonight. Our Edamame appetizer took 25 minutes and arrived at the table cold. We sent it back to the kitchen to have it reheated but it came back very overcooked. The teriyaki chicken was a mound of rice with a plain chicken breast (rubber chicken) and a small glob of thick teriyaki sauce at the bottom of the plate. I had to sliced up the chicken and mix it into the sauce myself. It was a poor example of a simple dish. There was not enough sauce to cover the chicken breast yet they charged me when I asked for more. Our sushi was accompanied by a dime-sized dollop of wasabi and again an additional charge for more. Service was poor. Food was marginal. I won’t be going back. Very dissatisfied.
Had a great bday celebration. Waiter was a bit young and not conversational, but he got the job done. Very slow night, but food was exceptional.
Great service & incredible meal!!
As usual, everything was just right.
Food was good and service was fast and friendly
Food is always delicious, however the service wa a just okay. They seemed to be understaffed. We waited for almost 10 minutes without anyone greeting our table and then the drinks (wine and sake) took about 8 minutes to arrive after that. Food was awesome, but the service needs some work, there were only a few tables full in the restaurant.
The Drunken Fish has good sushi. Their unique rolls are delicious.
the food wasn't bad but wasn't anything special. server was ok but kinda blunt
We have been there several times and have never been disappointed!!!
forced to sit at the bar when there were 100 open spots, bad service, small and bad portion of sushi , bad experience
The food was excellent, the drinks were good, and service was fast. I never had an empty glass in front of me.
Very good sushi and sashimi, and reasonably sized portions for this type of food. Our waitress was very good, but spread a little thin. We were seated near the kitchen were the noise level was higher.
I have been to a few Drunken Fish type restaurants in the St. Louis area, this is the best one so far.
Atmosphere was great wait staff was slow although they had quite a few people working waiter was friendly and food was excellent
Food was mediocre for the price we paid. I’d rather have Wasabi for the same price and get more sushi.
The only reason we went is because I won a gift card. We went at 5:30 on a Saturday night, with a reservation. We were seated promptly, however our waiter was one of only 3 working that night. He had our table, and about 10 other tables, so service was a bit lacking. Our calamari appetizer took about 30 minutes to come out, and it was tasty, but not what were were expecting. Seemed like processed sticks of calamari fried in a panko crust. The sushi rolls we had were just "ok". I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come back. While it wasn't terrible, it was like the sushi...just "ok".
Really wonderful food great service and nice place for couples to meet
Service was good but I was disappointed in my meal. The shrimp in my meal were very small and had no taste. Basically received a big bowl of noodles with very few vegetables and shrimp.
My daughter asked to go to Drunken Fish and she was so excited to order the crispy roll . We tried a couple of new things - one, the taco (AMAZING) and two the edamamme hummus which was also very good. My recommendation is that you need more wonton strips with the hummus. We had a "new" server named Kiley. She was very attentive and if didn't know something quickly found an answer. My only advice is that she doesn't check in with her tables as much as she does, it almost makes you feel like you are being rushed to order or eat faster. Other than that - she did a great job.
This reservation was to celebrate a birthday. We had a party of 6. When we arrived, we wee seated at a broken table. It was a four side that folded out to become a round table. Two of the leaves/sides were broken and leaning so far at an angle that drinks and food had to be placed almost near the center of the table and we had to lean over to eat. When we asked the waitress, once seated, about the table, she said that it got broken last week. When it was pointed out that we would have to lean over almost to the center of the table to eat our food, she acted like it wasn't a big deal and didn't offer to re-seat us, offer any solutions, etc. The table should have been put out of service, converted to a square table, etc. From there, didn't have the greatest experience. The waitress, though taking our orders and checking back once or twice didn't really seem to want to be waiting on us (maybe she thought we would complain more). For the price, we have had better food and sushi. Everything was just so-so. I will not be going back here anytime soon if I want good sushi and a good atmosphere.
The wonder woman roll is great. I order it every time and am never disappointed. The sushi is good, but I would stick to the rolls and mains if you are starved.
California roll with salmon was really godd.
Good place for sushi. We had reservations for party of 5. We were seated next to kitchen & the bartender was our server. So, she was busy at the bar & we felt rushed when she cane to the table. I would probably go back but, not my first choice!
I love the atmosphere of Drunken Fish, it's always a beautiful experience. This visit was no different. Food is amazing and I leave very happy.
Found large amounts of plastic (cling wrap) in one of the sushi rolls. Could have been really dangerous if my daughter would have swallowed. Service was ok. They did comp the roll that had the plastic wrap in it. Sushi wasn’t bad... server wrote the original price of bill (prior to comp) to try to get a better tip. While I can’t blame him, it was a little presumptuous considering we were served a major choking hazard with little apologies. He actually acted like this had happened before when I showed him the pieces of plastic wrap. It was not busy when we went and the place had an old smell to it. If you want to try drunken Fish I would stick to the Central West End location
Great happy hour specials that go till 6:26pm, however you have to sit at bar or outside. Service was wonderful and food was great as usual.
I made reservations for a party of 5, however, when we arrived we were informed of the happy hour specials and asked to sit in a "designated" area to take advantage of the specials. When the hostess sat us, she sat us at a 4 top table and brought a chair over because she said we were not allowed to push tables together (we were seated outside of the main restaurant space). We had more than enough room at the table and were fine with the set up, however, when the waiter (Val) arrived he informed us that our current set up was not allowed and had a bit of a rude tone. He said he wouldn't make us move because we were already seated but placed the blame on us when in fact we were just following the directions of the hostess. I would suggest better training and/or communication between host and wait staff at this location. His interaction set the tone of our evening which was not a good one. About 30 mins later, another party of 5 arrived and they were seated at two separate tables and later pulled a chair up to their table as well so that they could all sit together. I overheard them discussing their frustration with the "rules" also. There has to be a better way to handle larger parties.
