Waitress and service was decent
Food isn’t worth the price
A very pleasant evening. Food, atmosphere and service were great! Noise level also very good for conversation.
Ordered the max lobster, very expensive. All around edges were stringy, piece not much larger than much less expensive version my friend got.
The stuffed rainbow trout is an amazing entree. I love the atmosphere.
We had come in to town for the weekend to visit our daughter, I had read good reviews on your restaurant and wanted to take her someplace nice. As a group we felt that the bread brought out was so hard on the outside, it could have broken a tooth. The main course was very good, but the creme brulee was overdone to the point the top tasted burnt. I said something to the waitress, there was no offer to take it off the bill, bring us another or anything. So 1/3 things that were good, I probably will not go back. When the bill is almost $200 before tip there are certain expectations, those were not met.
Great service , food, and drink. Bar area was active and controlled. We'll be back.
When we got to the restaurant it was late Sunday afternoon and there was a line outside waiting for the restaurant to open--a good side. Some people in the line were there for drinks and appetizers at the bar. We sat in the restaurant and had an early dinner. Our meal was prepared well. We got the restaurant week special, lobster tails. These are often overcooked these were not. The Manhattan clam chowder before and the chocolate mousse after were both good as well. Our server was accommodating and very attentive. Will go back again.
Went to restaurant with friends from out of town. Loved the decor and vibe of the restaurant. Service was beyond outstanding. Our Server went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. She provided wine samples for us to make a decision on the wine and was even willing to go as far as to switch out starters if we did not like them. We did not need to as she did a great job describing the food and we enjoyed everything we ate as the food was great. It is not often that you find service in a restaurant like that these days. I will definitely be back and will recommend the restaurant to friends as well.
Our waitress was less than attentive as we were not a regular. Kind of didn’t feel welcome there.
Enjoyed our first visit to Don's. Salmon was outstanding! Steak Oliver MW was M at best. Sides were delicious as well as adult beverages. Service was very good, as was ambience. Will be back.
We started at the bar for happy hour. Great drinks, and great appetizers! Dinner was fabulous; lobster tail w/mashed potatoes, and green beans as the side. Lobster was super-tasty. Mashed potatoes were smooth, creamy, and yummy. The green beans were simply amazing! Service was flawless and perfectly timed.
Excellent food and great ambiance! Great for a date or somewhere fancy to bring your parents when they are in town.
Awsome place to Eat at! Great food nice location, really nice and punctual servers and hosted! A bit pricey but for the service and great tasting food I was sure satisfied!
Three of us had fish, two halibut and one salmon. All three were cooked extra well. All were dry and hard to eat. One ordered the scallops with cauliflower mash under. While the scallops were ok, the cauliflower tasted like it had gone bad.
The room was loud, it was hard to hear across the table.
The interior was worn and could use an update.
I don’t think I will return
Overall it was pretty good. Our server was good until the very end. We waited 20 minutes for our check and had to go find her to get it.
We have been to Don's twice. The food has been fantastic both times. The service the first visit was exceptional. The second visit was slow. Ordered a second glass of wine when dinners arrived and it didn't show up for maybe 12-15 minutes. The waitress when asked what would be the best wine to pair with one of our meals read off the list of the five house wines.
Went on a Sunday for lobster bake. Great value as it was a Sunday and $10 off - bonus. I don’t usually write reviews but our server Terri was great as well. We’re go fairly regularly and also enjoy seeing the familiar face of Terri. We were sat in the dining room by a window and it was chilly at times so won’t do that again and it surprisingly got a little noisy but that happens there with a crowd. Overall, great food, good value and enjoy Terri
Other than the restaurant was extremely loud, the food and service were excellent.
out of 6 doz clams nearly all were large and could not be chewed, they had to be swallowed whole.
the lobsters were ok as was the service
the wine recommendation by our server was very good
The dipping butter was cool
the mussels were outstanding but we had come for the clams and ordered the mussels because the clams were so poor
Terri our server showed no interest or reaction when we advised her of our problem with the clams which was disappointing
Had the chicken and oyster clambake, bland and tasteless. Waitress was very good as was service. Ambiance was old and stuffy
Food was good (not great), but service was a little slow. Their receipt machine was down so we had to wait about 20 minutes after our meal to leave.
Food was awesome, service was awesome. We were there for our 16th Anniversary and I can find reason to go back I would like too.
I would have went to Dons Lighthouse with or without the $10.00 credit I was to receive from
open table, But the hostess told us she did not know what to do with the printout I printed from
open table. Why does this establishment not honor your credits?
You can't beat Don's Thursday/Sunday steak & lobster special, $10 off the regular price. Everything was fabulous, especially the filet. Absolutely melt in your mouth. The Pomeroy salad is great as were our desserts, the triple chocolate torte and New York style cheesecake with raspberry coulis. If you pushed me to find something to complain about, I'd go with the bread, which had a higher than perfect crust to bread ratio. Our server, Chelsea, was great and she's getting married next week. Congratulations, Chelsea!
always a pleasure for special occasions - the food is consistently good...but good food comes at a cost - not outrageously priced, but is saved for special dining nights. This service is notable at Don's - have never had a waitperson who was not attentive and professional - even when quite busy.
Maybe best seafood restaurant in Cleveland
Very nice place food was amazing great crowd control
It was my first time eating here and I will return... The only problem I had was my king crab was over cooked...I will give you another chance and have recommended your restaurant to others.
Dons is a real go to for us especially when entertaining locally. Their food is reliably good and they have a good wine list.
Relaxing pleasant restaurant. Consistently good food and service. Worth the drive from the east side.
Service and food was amazing! Took my wife there for her birthday and asked to be seated someplace quiet - and we were sat somewhat close to the bar, but had a good window view. Got a bit noisy on occasion from the bar, but it didn't take away from much of the night. Food was fantastic and service was great!
This was our second time in two days. Server (Carolyn?) was very nice and attentive. Soup and clambake was great. Burger was overcooked and pork porterhouse was dry.
We had a 7 p.m. Friday dinner reservation. I ordered a bottle of wine for our table of 3 and the server returned and said they did not have that wine chilled! Unacceptable. They do not have an extensive wine list, so there's simply no excuse for not having the wine chilled. Our dinner was fine, and we ordered coffee and one dessert. We finished our coffee and waited a while longer but no dessert. It was a bread pudding, so I am pretty sure the dessert chef did not need to make it from scratch. Yet our server was adamant that she had put the order in and checked several times but it never materialized. We cancelled the dessert order and gave up.
GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE IN EITHER THE INTIMATE DINING ROOM OR FRIENDLY PUB SETTING IN THE BAR.
ALWAYS AN ENJOYABLE EVENING OUT.
First visit to Don's but definitely not our last. Food was great. Service also.
Staff were very personable and friendly. The waitress was always checking in, water glasses were always full without asking, and a very nice selection of food.
I plan to visit again in the future.
Don’s Lighthouse is a favorite. Fantastic food and service, and a great classic ambiance.
We love everything about Don’s Lighthouse. It’s so easy to get there from the east side. Food and service are always excellent. Now that we’re retired it’s a favorite place to meet friends for lunch.
This was our first time dining here and won't be the last. The menu had many offerings to choose from lots of seafood dishes and not just lobster and crab, I thought the steak medallions I had were cooked perfect and generous in size. Service was good.
Don’s Lighthouse is a classic fine dining restaurant, with a long history. Their seafood, fish, and steak choices are plentiful. I started with a crab cake appetizer, which was excellent. My entree consisted of scampi and two filet medallions, cooked to perfection. My husband and son had the lobster and filet special ($10 off on Thursday’s and Sunday’s), which was plentiful and tasty. While some may find it pricey, it’s worth every penny.
