   Really excellent selections of appetizers, crudo and nigiri. The mango custard was light, moderately sweet and just slightly spicy.

   I marked noise level as energetic but I mean this in the most negative way possible - zero positive. People were shouting and cackling beyond reasonable noise level. Most bizarre experience at a sushi restaurant in my life. Last night experience was louder than any time I’ve been at Kokoro, Aiko, Handies Douzo. And, Kokoro is in a food hall. It was very difficult to enjoy the meal. Tasting was good however not enough nigiri pieces in my opinion. It felt a little rudimentary/playful. Intro tasting for new people getting into sushi. The corn was fine but it felt like a cheap filler course. Should’ve added a skewer of beef or chicken.

   We love this place. We’ve been here many times, both for dinner and lunch. The dinner tasting menu is a perfect way to experience what Doko can do, and it’s very reasonably priced at $75 per person. Doko has a network of seafood suppliers that allow it to get the very freshest fish on a daily basis. Very few restaurants in Houston can compete at this level, and those other places are a lot more expensive.

   Excellent food and excellent service. A beautiful restaurant. Only negative is it’s very loud but that is part of the fun too. Sushi was magnificent.

    Doko delivers an exceptional dining experience with a well-thought-out menu that showcases creativity and quality. The service was attentive and friendly, enhancing an already great atmosphere. Highlights included the spicy tuna—packed with flavor and perfectly balanced—and the fresh, expertly prepared sashimi. Be sure to sample their excellent selection of sake before moving on to dessert. The Basque cheesecake was a standout, rich and smooth finish. Highly recommend for a night out with great food, drinks, and ambiance.
