    A Rare Taste of Namazake Join us for an exclusive evening celebrating namazake—a vibrant, unpasteurized sake that’s only available seasonally and seldom seen outside of Japan. Alive, complex, and full of character, this style offers a singular tasting experience for both sake enthusiasts and the sake-curious. The night will feature an 8-course omakase dinner, each course expertly paired with select namazake pours. Guiding us through the evening is Janiz Frago of the Kome Collective, who will share insight and storytelling behind each unique pour. Limited seats. Exceptional pairings. A night not to be missed.

    A Truly Special Experience at Doko – 10/10 Doko made our visit feel incredibly special. I had noted in our reservation that it was my partner’s 28th birthday, and they went above and beyond — greeting us with flowers and a thoughtful card. That level of personal touch is rare and truly appreciated. From the moment we arrived, the service felt custom-tailored: fast, helpful, and most importantly, warm and inviting. The food was solidly above average, and the drinks were outstanding — their matcha IPA was especially memorable. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Doko to anyone looking for a unique and thoughtful dining experience.

    Really excellent selections of appetizers, crudo and nigiri. The mango custard was light, moderately sweet and just slightly spicy.

    I marked noise level as energetic but I mean this in the most negative way possible - zero positive. People were shouting and cackling beyond reasonable noise level. Most bizarre experience at a sushi restaurant in my life. Last night experience was louder than any time I’ve been at Kokoro, Aiko, Handies Douzo. And, Kokoro is in a food hall. It was very difficult to enjoy the meal. Tasting was good however not enough nigiri pieces in my opinion. It felt a little rudimentary/playful. Intro tasting for new people getting into sushi. The corn was fine but it felt like a cheap filler course. Should’ve added a skewer of beef or chicken.

    We love this place. We’ve been here many times, both for dinner and lunch. The dinner tasting menu is a perfect way to experience what Doko can do, and it’s very reasonably priced at $75 per person. Doko has a network of seafood suppliers that allow it to get the very freshest fish on a daily basis. Very few restaurants in Houston can compete at this level, and those other places are a lot more expensive.

    Excellent food and excellent service. A beautiful restaurant. Only negative is it’s very loud but that is part of the fun too. Sushi was magnificent.
