Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse

Signature dishes and sides include: The House Filet (served with masa flash-fried Louisiana oysters), Tomato Blue Cheese Napoleon, Pontalba Potatoes, and a Roasted Sweet Potato with Creole Pecan Butter. Dickie Brennan’s is my go to steak restaurant in NOLA. Being a local I am there on a regular basis. Unfortunately this trip saw a limited menu with food quality poor to say the least.
Some of this could be chalked up to covid and some to the recent hurricane. However, the food was awful. It’s very concerning when the best dish of the night was the baked potato.
I’m hoping they can recover and get back to the high standards and quality that they are known for.
Great dinner experience. Our server was outstanding, the food was terrific and the atmosphere very enjoyable!
Jeremy was a great, attentive waiter. Ambience was moderate. But only because it was Early on a Tuesday night. I thought I would be spending more, so I was pleasantly surprised when my bill came.
I would definitely return.
First things first, the homely ambiance and feel of the restaurant was great. The service was on point and staff was amazing. Our waitress Chantell was friendly and made us feel like family. The food was well prepared and very flavorful. I'll definitely go soon, the filet was amazing!
As always, at a Brennan family restaurant, the service, attentiveness, and the food were all exceptional. The dinning experience was fantastic !
Our waiter Chris, was very attentive, very helpful, and fun to chat with. He did an excellent job.
Food was not as good as we are used to when dining here. I’m sure the storm has something to do with it. We will try again in a few weeks.
Excellent steak and fish combined with caring, excellent service is a winning combination.
I asked for a medium temperature 11 oz filet. It was not. The waiter, instead of correcting the issue he over talked and was insisting a faint pink middle was a medium temperature filet. I would of thought he would of known better considering we were at Dickie Brendan's. Done.
My mother had an awesome birthday experience
This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. The food is always delicious and consistent.. excellent service and great ambiance
I came here for my birthday and the service was absolutely outstanding!!! Our server couldn’t do enough for us and made my day really special by bringing out a dessert with a candle in it. Unfortunately the steak I ordered was well done when I asked for medium and it was swimming in sauce which wasn’t very appetizing but overall it was a good experience.
Always good. Food and service! Yum!
We were at Brennan's for a special occasion and had a wonderful experience! The Chateaubriand and DB wine was scrumptious. Faith, our server, went the extra mile the entire evening to ensure our satisfaction. Would return in a heartbeat💛
Best meal we had in New Orleans. Steak was prepared the way I like it.
The Strip is the best in the city IMO. Alfredo was superb and the host, James, was super nice and even more knowledgeable about the experience.
Best restaurant we ate at in New Orleans! Bbq shrimp was amazing!
Great food as always. We were disappointed that there were no crab cakes. Overall a good dinner and experience.
This is one of our go-to places for a nice meal. We always know the food and service are going to be great.
Ordered steak medium rare, got very rare. For the supposed best steakhouse in LA one should not have to send a steak back to be cooked further. The waiter was excellent and the ambiance was great. The side dishes were great.
Our server, Adolfo was great - very personable but not hovering. The steaks were superb as were the apps and desert. We brought our own wine and no trouble with the corkage fee. A fine dining experience.
Nice atmosphere in a great location for where we stayed. Corey (our server) was knowledgeable and attentive and delivered us a fine meal. The House Filet entree was delicious - very nice combination of flavors - and the sharable Au Gratin potatoes were sinfully good!
Food and service were excellent. Complimentary dessert for our 25th anniversary provided a nice finish to the meal.
I was expecting more/better. This place is ok, but not as good as some of the other New Orleans restaurants I’ve been to. The food didn’t seem to be seasoned well and my wife asked for a medium-well filet and it came out overly cooked as well done!
Not the first time and it doesn’t disappoint. Great steakhouse not full of the noise and drunken folks from Bourbon st. Definitely will go there again
Reservations were at 6:45 and we left 2 hours later. The steak was undercooked and it took too long to come out. The wait staff were very apologetic and even comped a dessert. However for the price we didn’t feel that it was worth it.
Great food!! Great wine and service. Nice ambience. We will go back. Great value.
Wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambience
Excellent Chateaubriand dinner fo gour. Food was excellent, service was exceptional. We'll be back.
We experienced a special dinner for a very special anniversary occasion. The food was excellent and the service was most attentive. We were visiting New Orleans for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner! Would highly recommend the chateaubriand for two.
My husband and I were looking for a really good steak. Dickie's was recommended to us and we went. This was not a place for a great steak. However, it was OK for our palates.
Not a Prime or Ruth Chris steakhouse.
Great steakhouse right off of Bourbon st. Good food and drinks.
Terrible. Couldn’t cook a steak right and the waiting was extremely rude
Awesome service, everyone was professional, friendly and courteous. Food was very good - BBQ ribeye and shrimp was very good - French bread was a nice touch . Our server Kathleen was great and didn’t miss a beat . Thanks to all for making our trip to New Orleans more memorable .
Our server Lorenzo was amazing. GreAt anniversary dinner in NOLA.
It was clearly our server's first day - or at least I hope it was. We were excited to do the table side martinis - she had NO idea how to make a martini or what the table side service was. She went to talk to someone we could see someone explaining it to her (WHY would you put someone on the floor without them knowing how to make a basic drink) -
The "tableside" was behind us so we couldn't even see what was going on. We felt bad for her so we said everything was fine -but they were horrible drinks. I think someone was standing behind me walking her through it - but she still didn't really know what she was doing - In fact she told us that - that she had never made a martini before....
When telling us what they were out of - she kind of spaced out and said she really didn't know what she was doing...
I ordered white wine - brought me red. The other 2 people ordered a bottle of wine - which she struggled with opening and tore the label off and was literally scraping the bottle. Other diners were watching and encouraging her.
I don't even think we can blame her -whoever manages the front of the house did a poor job training her and certainly wasn't there to help her.
Five star experience from start to finish
Best Service you will ever find. Everyone works as ONE. A well oiled machine. All food was great and a great place to relax and take everything in.
First time dining here but will not be our last!
Our meals appeared to be prepared well ahead of our order and warmed in an oven or microwave before serving. The steaks were over-cooked, the wine contained a large amount of sediment (it should have been decanted). Our waiter insisted we relate our observations to the manager, who was apparently too busy to visit our table. After waiting for him nearly 20 minutes, the sommelier appeared. I made it clear that we were not expecting anything to be taken off our bill, and he said he had no intention of doing so, but instructed our waiter to bring us 2 desserts, which was a ridiculous consolation, as we had already ordered and consumed our desserts. This was really disappointing for a Brennan restaurant, as we are lifelong New Orleans residents with a long history of special occasions at their establishments. Jeff Doussan
