   LOCALS BEWARE. Thinking of brunch at Deck (Queen Kapiolani Hotel), for a special occasion like, say, Mother's Day? THINK AGAIN. My wife loves crab, especially king crab. KC is hard to come by and expensive these days due to being badly overfished. I perused virtually every Honolulu Mother's Day brunch menu I could find. Most were snow crab, a couple were Dungeness, but ONLY ONE featured king crab. I booked it immediately, even though it required a full prepayment in advance ($95/person). Guess what?? They pulled a bait and switch... only snow crab, NO KING CRAB. And the snow crab was basically running out (according to our server, and our own observations of precious little crab out for service). Deck made damned sure to call me few days in advance to confirm that we'd show for our reservation on a very busy restaurant day. Understandable. However, they didn't have the courtesy to let us know that they had NO KING CRAB. Also, the yogurt parfait station (advertised online, on IG, and OpenTable) was nowhere to seen. In fact, we saw no dessert anywhere (could have missed it). TAKE YOUR CHANCES if you want, but if Deck says it's on the brunch menu, I wish you luck. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... well, that won't happen. Never going back. With that said, the staff were very apologetic, and manager Kokomi was very accommodating. But that doesn't compensate for me reneging on my promise to my wife to get her king crab legs for Mother's Day. Prepayment required, no less. $190 for the two of us. Not including tax and tip (the latter of which, at a self-serve buffet, is a questionable option). On top of the lack of crab, the parking was IMPOSSIBLE. We arrrived in the area 30 minutes before our reservation, because we figured parking would be tight. First, we got turned away by the Queen Kapiolani Hotel (where Deck is located) because we were not hotel guests.    Bait and switch at Mother’s Day brunch. Looked like they threw everything together to be as least costly as possible while charging $100 per person. Brunch was not in the open air restaurant but rather a large conference room, view was still good. Advertised as having king crabs instead had snow crabs. No crab crackers or wet wipes to be found. “Homemade” desserts were a Costco special. Odd music choice with country music playing. Everything else was meh at best.

   Great experience as always. The ambiance was delightful. The service was somewhat slow as compared to prior visits but polite, respectful and engaging. I will definitely be back

   The atmosphere and views were the best part of the evening. The cocktail and beer suggestions were good. Calamari with the sauce was our favorite food of the night. The salmon was good but was undercooked and oily. The Island Spice Rubbed chicken was mediocre, and overly seasoned.

   good evening except the ribs were like leather, everything else was good. one thing all should note that if you sit outside you could get rained on and rained on your food

   Got to restaurant 30 mins before our reservation. Hostess offered for us to have a seat by the pool while we wait. We got seated right on time. But we waited 35 mins for our waitress to ask for our orders. She got the bill for the table to the right and left of us but didn’t even acknowledge us. Once she did come to take our orders, half of the food wasn’t available. Ran out of pork belly, ribs and prawns. So on top of all that, we were very limited. Horrible experience!!

    We at a reservation for 8 and did not get seated until 8:45. When the food finally came, they only brought 3 of the 5 entree’s we ordered. 2 of our guests were not provided food until the other 3 had already finished eating. The waitstaff was apologetic and kind but the kitchen was having issues. Food was mediocre.
