One of the most overrated rooftop bars. It was fairly chaotic, felt very understaffed, and could use a cleaning. The alcoholic drinks were bland and watery but the NA drinks were excellent. The fish tacos, bao buns, and Brussel sprouts were tasty!

I made a reservation for 6 for Mother’s Day and received a call earlier in the week to confirm my reservation. This had the potential to be a 5 star experience and I really hoped it would be for almost $100/pp. We were seated 30 minutes after the reservation time. As I walked to the table I noticed several of the serving dishes were low or empty. We were invited to go head up to the buffet as soon as we were seated. We got to the start of the buffet line where there were only 2 plates and a near empty salad bowl and similarly sad quantities down the line. I inquired if the food would be refreshed and I was told there was plenty of food in the back. I’m starting to feel embarrassed at this point that I took my mom and two aunts here on a day that’s supposed to honor them and wanted to make them feel like queens, especially since they decided to come visit me from the mainland. Instead, the impression was that I’d brought them to this establishment to feed them scraps. Eventually a young man brings out a few more plates and is wiping them with a towel one by one as he sets them down on the table for us to grab. They eventually start bringing out more crab legs and it felt like 5 pieces at a time. There was no prime rib at the carving table, but I was again reassured some would be brought out. I had to flag someone down for my husband to have some salmon en croute. I observed a couple standing at the carving table for about 10 minutes later during the meal also waiting for someone to serve them salmon. I eventually got behind the table and served myself, which they then also proceeded to do. Someone came to our table to apologize and let us know, unbeknownst to her, the kitchen was informed there were no more seatings and to cease food production. She informed us she was having some prime rib made specially for our table. It eventually came out over an hour after we were seated. The view of diamond head was at least nice. Hard to see myself coming back here.

LOCALS BEWARE. Thinking of brunch at Deck (Queen Kapiolani Hotel), for a special occasion like, say, Mother's Day? THINK AGAIN. My wife loves crab, especially king crab. KC is hard to come by and expensive these days. I perused virtually every Honolulu Mother's Day brunch menu I could find. Most were snow crab, a couple were Dungeness, but ONLY ONE featured king crab. I booked it immediately, even though it required a full prepayment in advance ($95/person). Guess what?? They pulled a bait and switch... only snow crab, NO KING CRAB. And the snow crab was basically running out (according to our server, and our own observations of precious little crab out for service). Deck made damned sure to call me few days in advance to confirm that we'd show for our reservation on a very busy restaurant day (gotta protect those profits). However, they didn't have the courtesy to let us know that they had NO KING CRAB. Also, the yogurt parfait station (advertised online, on IG, and OpenTable) was nowhere to seen. In fact, we saw no dessert anywhere (could have missed it). Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... well, that won't happen. Never going back. With that said, the staff were very apologetic, and manager Kokomi was very accommodating. But that doesn't compensate for me reneging on my promise to my wife to get her king crab legs for Mother's Day. Prepayment required, no less. And to the managers of Deck... please take your kama'aina customers more seriously. Honor the valet parking option, or be clear (and honest) if you don't have parking. Don't bait and switch on prime buffet items. We locals are the rock solid foundation of your clientele when COVID hits, stock markets drop, recessions happen, and visitors disappear. Don't treat us like an afterthought. We're the ones who could keep you solvent during hard times, but the time to build that loyalty is not during the next pandemic or recession. It's now. Mother's Day would have been a great place to start

The buffet was mediocre; from check-in, ambiance, food and service. We should've went to the actual restaurant for brunch. Not worth the price.

Bait and switch at Mother’s Day brunch. Looked like they threw everything together to be as least costly as possible while charging $100 per person. Brunch was not in the open air restaurant but rather a large conference room, view was still good. Advertised as having king crabs instead had snow crabs. No crab crackers or wet wipes to be found. “Homemade” desserts were a Costco special. Odd music choice with country music playing. Everything else was meh at best.
