So we booked a reservation on Open Table, only to drive to the location and see that they were dark and definitely not even open. They clearly are not managing their Open Table data. Stinks as there are few choices for dining in in Alburquque. Left us hangin !!
Debajo Tapas y Vino is the best tapas experience I’ve ever had. Vibe is chill and relaxed, wine selection is excellent, and the food is bar none. We ordered 10 different dishes from their menu, and each one is superb. You cannot go wrong with anything you choose from their menu. Our server, Josh, is personable, funny and awesome!!! I highly recommend Debajo Tapas y Vino.
The food was outstanding and delicious! As was the service and ambiance. The restaurant is Covid safe and the patio is warm and inviting.
The food was okay, a little expensive for what we got. But it was good to get out to dinner for a change during the Covid.
Lovely, live music and great food!
I will give Debajo another shot for sure. The patio was very sweet and comfortably separated from others during these COVID times. Our waiter was also reasonably attentive but appeared overwhelmed. Apparently, the crowd all ordered food at the same time. The patatas bravas and the pinchos were quite good. My husband and I really enjoyed our respective basil lemonade and sangria. We received a complementary plate due to the wait times which were quite long between tapas. The other two tapas were not good: asparagus and barriga. Asparagus was cold and tough. The barriga was chewy and hard. I feel as though our experience might have been an anomaly since the table next to us was raving about the same plates we thought were poorly done. My disappointment is not wholly the fault of the restaurant; my husband and I have very few opportunities to enjoy a meal out together, so we want it to be quite good.
Love, love, love this restaurant!
We were extremely excited to try Debajo and the patio seating did not disappoint! Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. We ordered the Patatas Brava, Grilled Ribeye w/Crushed Red Pepper Amber Honey Sauce, and Tapa Traditional. We also ordered 2 items off the Specials menu as well as a glass of Sangria and Iced Tea. The Patatas, Ribeye, and Tapa Traditional came out quickly and we assumed that because our table was small (2 Top), the last 2 items would be brought later when we had more room. The items we had were fine and we ate them happily, but the Patatas resembled hash brown potatoes, the ribeye was more done that we prefer, and the Tapas jamon serrano was a bit dry. We finished our food and the table was cleared, but the remainder of the order was not served. We flagged down an employee (not our waitress) and asked for our dishes, and she went to check on it. Our waitress came back and told us that the kitchen ran out of the specials. She admitted that she should have asked the kitchen when the order was placed, but neglected to do so as well as inform us. We decided not to order anything else and then asked for our check. When our waitress did not return, we took our check to the bar and was told by someone who I assume was the Manager that they comped the Sangria. It was unexpected and very nice and we left. Our total bill was approximately $49 for 3 tapas and iced tea. The portions, of course, were small as they are tapas, but as we didn't get our entire order, we were still hungry. Fortunately we found another restaurant down the street and the night ended well. Unfortunately our experience did not live up to our expectations of Debajo. The ambiance was most definitely inviting and the sangria was one of the best I've had, but the food and service was not what we hoped for.
I had been to the previous iteration of this space, The Cellar, many times and was sad to hear it had closed. But I was happy to later learn of the opening of Debajo in it's stead. Our first visit left us delighted. Delighted with the service, wine list, food and the outdoor space that has been added. The wine list is diverse with reasonably priced options. We had a bottle of the Cava, very nice. And a highly rated sauvignon blanc that was delicious too. Both well priced. The service was attentive and friendly. Our servers were well versed on the food and wine. This will be a regular restaurant in our rotation of favorites.
My wife and I recently dined here for the first time. The restaurant is quaint but we sat on the patio due to the great weather. The homemade sangria was excellent. We started with a few tapas and ordered more as needed. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. They played music and the evening could not have been better. The staff worked as a team and the owner was present and active in the operations. We highly recommend Debajo Tapas y Vino.
If you like tapas, this is the place to eat in Albuquerque.
The service was attentive and friendly. The tapas were mediocre especially for the price. So wanted to like this new place.
The staff was very friendly, checked on you in a moderate time to where you weren’t waiting for someone to ask if you need some thing. Food was fabulous the sangria was out of this world. We are definitely going back.
There was a little snafu with our friends plate of ribeye, they gave it to the next table to us. But they made up for it. Even they said they would go back again.
This place is an amazing. The food is great and we are vegan and vegetarian so they had plenty of options.
Delicious vegetarian dishes for me. Many delectable meats for my husband. Tapas are a great way to try many different flavors. Interesting menu with lots of choices.
Delightful menu with great drink menu and spectacular service.
I recommend the tapas abs desserts.....the paella, I was not impressed.....
Food, wine, and service were SPECTACULAR!!! Please support this gem!
This is a charming restaurant, and the menu has options for everyone. Our server Eva was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and the food, and we thoroughly enjoyed the gazpacho, paella and salad. The owner and whole staff seem very dedicated to creating a great dining experience, and we look forward to recommending this place again and again.
Date night during patio dining only in Albuquerque. The wait staff was good but not great and the food bursted with flavor. The new owner stopped at our table and was well dressed, professional, somewhat charming and happy to chat with patrons. My eyes got big and my mouth fell open when I got the check. I should’ve been looking at the prices as I went along so there wouldn’t have been a sticker shock. For eating outdoors on patio furniture in 100 degree heat I felt I over paid for the experience. I will go back but only after indoor dining has resumed.
Had a fabulous meal here tonight. Had the Tomato tapenade on toasted bread, fried manchego cheese and apricot compote and shrimp served in garlic sauce. Good selection of summer cocktails and great service! Please check them out! Nice covered patio. Thank you Savannah and staff!
Wonderful night out - love the new patio & the staff is awesome !
Nice patio! With only being able to patio dine. We ate outside. We were shielded from wind and had shade. Food was very good. Portions were decent size and menu had a good selection.
The food was delicious and amazing service.
Food was delicious, but the service was even better! We will be back! And get the flan!
Food was amazing!
So happy to have discovered this place. Charming patio walled to keep traffic and other sounds out. The service was perfect, attentive, great suggestions and timely. The menu had so many delicious items it was hard to choose but the server helped with some ideas. I am eager to go back and try other menu choices. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening there.
I appreciate having this neighborhood restaurant again, good luck and we'll see you again. I felt very comfortable, distanced from the other patrons and the waitress was a delight. Everyone remember to wear your mask when the waiter/waitress arrives, we want to keep them safe, too!
A wonderful experience on their patio. Great food. Wonderful service. We were sad when the Cellar closed, and its successor is great.
We went tonight for my birthday dinner. We started with a carafe of White Sangria which was floral, citrusy and delicious. We shared a Debajo salad. Fresh mixed greens, manchego cheese, walnuts and cherry tomatoes. The salad was very lightly dressed with a fresh citrus dressing. I so appreciate when the dressing compliments rather than overwhelms and saturates the ingredients. Our second selection was asparagus with Serrano ham seared into a beautifully cooked packets. Accompanied with roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes and drizzled with paprika oil and balsamic reduction. Nice balance of flavors. Our third selection was paella mixta. Perfectly cooked saffron rice with chicken, Spanish chorizo, and shrimp topped with cherry tomatoes and a ferrous serving of haricots verts. Everything was delicious with attentive service. Great dinner on a cute patio. We will definitely be back to try other tapas. Good menu with delicious food and friendly efficient staff. Highly recommend.
Our experience at Debajo was five star all around. Outstanding food, service, and ambience. We can hardly wait to eat there again!
Great wine. Delicious food- so flavorful! Great place to have a relaxed, enjoyable meal with friends.
This new restaurant was a delight. Delicious wines and flavorful tapas. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes.
