Curio May be a bit pricey, but it’s worth a try. Considering I made reservations an hour before hand on St. Patrick’s Day, our table was ready promptly. We ordered several starters which includes the shrimp broulettes (suggested by our server Jessica), crab claws, and grit taters. The shrimp broulettes with the sauce is a nice starter on the mid range price. The crab claws were my favorite. It was light a refreshing, but has the right amount of savory to it. For entrees we got the scallops and short rib over grits. At first seeing that the scallops were only three pieces over kale, I thought it wasn’t worth it, but this is probably one of the top 10 scallops I’ve had. The kale with the scallops were absolutely amazing and it’s worth the $30. The short rib over grits was also quite great. This year I’ve been trying to taste all the special grits dishes that NOLA has to offer in the quarter, and by far Curio’s grits are on the top of my list.
While I know it was dinner time on St. Patrick’s Day, it did get pretty loud sitting by the shutters. With lots of EMS passing by, it really wasn’t a peaceful dinner, but it was nice to watch the New Orleans spirit while eating our food.
Food was served cold and had to be returned twice. Ending up eating one of the meals just because we were hungry. Wait staff was apologetic but not surprised....
Lived everything we had here. Our waitress Jessica was terrific from start to finish.
Do you have a spare was nice and the service was good the food was good. But the bathroom was really nasty
Everything was ok - there is nothing to complain about, yet nothing that was particularly good either.
We were seated on the lower level and we would have preferred going upstairs and the waitress/hostess should have given us the option. No ambiance downstairs. They brought out our food and mine was the wrong entree so husband had to eat his and they later brought mine.
Despite telling the waiter I liked my salmon on the done side it came out rare - the part I could eat was very good. The manager was nice enough to not charge us for my entree and she did this wo me even complaining- so - I would go back but definitely go upstairs-
We were so excited to go and try the full menu, as the last time we were there we were limited to the brunch menu. We were a party of nine and the restaurant was half empty, so not a busy night. Everyone except two guests enjoyed their food. Our main issue was our server. Took a drink order, we were waiting for the drinks for around 20 minutes, she even took our dinner and app orders before the drinks arrived. The dinner entrees arrived before we were even half finished with our entrees. The server would not split the check which had not been a problem on our previous visit. I will go again possibly but I will never take a large group again. All of the other staff was friendly but still it was an unpleasant dining experience for the group.
Service needs attention... had to ask the hostess to get a waitress/waiter... we sat for 7 minutes before anyone came to our table. If I was alone or with a group of friends instead of first time visitors to the city, I would have walked out. Not that you even care, your restaurant seems to always be busy. When waitress finally came to table the first words out of her mouth were.... “got any questions”? It was a bit awkward... a hello would have been nice or I’m sorry for the wait or even can I get you a beverage to start, all we got was a “got any questions “ and it wasn’t even friendly... However she did recover by checking on us a time or two, and became a bit more pleasant and even brought us two extra scoops of ice cream.
Ill be back... because the food was delicious, just hope I don’t get this kind of service again 😢
Had a great lunch on our way back to Florida. We sat on the balcony and it was great. Tried the grit tots, yummy! We had salads for lunch which were also good. Had a great experience. Thank you!
We went for dinner before going to the Saenger to see Hamilton. This was 0.4 miles away which was close enough to walk. They had room for our reservation of 8. The food was good and the waitress was nice. We sat downstairs in the corner. They have upstairs seating too with some balcony seating...might be fun sometime to eat up there.
I loved this place. The bottomless mimosas were delicious. The grit tots were also delicious. The biscuits and gravy were tasty, but the biscuits were kind of thick.
great food and great service and I would definitely recommend curio to all of my friends
Great table on their terrace overlooking the French Quarter. Service excellent and attentive. Caesar Salad wilted, send it back it came back the same. Red fish with crab delicious and the scallops not as good
Delicious food! I recommend getting several starters or split a few entrees so you can try lots of what they have. Friendly waitstaff, good views, and nice ambiance to boot.
Was for a bachelorette brunch! Disappointed because we were a day late on the Mardi Gras specials but the food was still amazing!! Would definitely recommend
It would have been nice to know ahead of time that there was an abbreviated menu. I guess I understand the need, but I’m not from New Orleans and am not a regular Mardi Gras attender. It never occurred to me that we would not have the menu posted online.
What we had was ok. The gumbo was below average, grit fritters were good. The fish was moist, but just nothing particularly special. The shrimp and grits were again, good but not outstanding.
OMG. Where do I begin? Jamie was by far the best server and the food was spectacular. We had a great experience and would go back again. Thank you. Thank you. ♥️
I chose Curio to start off my birthday celebrations on Fat Tuesday, despite it being a hectic day for the city, I was greeted by friendly and smiling staff as soon as we walked in. We were running about 15 minutes late for our reservations due to traffic and parking a good distance away from the restaurant and they saved our table for us, we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, our food was delicious, and the drinks were flavorful. We would definitely visit again when in NOLA.
Food was awesome. Wasnt too crowded but also wasnt empty!
Great Food and service at a reasonable price for NOLA's French Quarter
Awesome. Been there twice and great. Bloody Mary’s are grest
Excellent service staff with exceptional entrees. Highly recommend the Curio for the food and service, however the ambiance although pleasing to the eye was less than expected due to the loudness of the patrons visiting the establishment. At points it was impossible to have pleasant conversation without talking loudly to overcome the tables next to us.
At the Waterborne Symposium Conference this week, businesses dinner
Great place to go, we had the curry vegetable plate and short ribs. The bread pudding is excellent! Service was the best!
Great welcome, very engaging and attentive staff. David, our waiter, was the orchestrator of a lovely evening, and when we engaged in conversation with another customer, the proximate staff was most supportive and engaging. Food was terrific -- well prepared and imaginative. Liked it so much, we went the next day for a lunch meeting which was equally enjoyable.
I’m a local to New Orleans, and decided to give Curio a try. It’s definitely a tourist trap. Food was okay. The restaurant itself was very nice and in a great location downtown. But it’s not a good locals spot. Maybe for drinks? But food no.
Great experience. Waiter was super friendly and helpful. Food was amazing, definitely recommend!
Almost everything we tried to order was not available. Large parties were in the room causing service to be non-existent. One person could not eat the food because it was over cooked and dry. She complained and it was taken off the check. Three other people could have done the same. It was so noisy we couldn’t talk. It was a birthday party and we gave up on trying to order dessert. This place was a real disappointment. We are locals and won’t return.
Great food and service best dinner
Rib Eye steak was very fatty and by the time I cut away all the fat there was very little left to eat. Disappointing since the reviews were generally positive.
Great service! Went for a bachelorette party and were very accommodating by seating us on the balcony and frequently checking on us. Very impressed!
Breakfast was delicious and great location
I'm a New Orleanian, but this was the first time I've eaten at Curio. The upstairs dining room had three large-screen TVs tuned to sports and MMA cage fighting... Between that and the high noise level, the ambience was sports-bar-like. Not exactly what I was expecting from a nice restaurant. My wife and I ordered off their three-course prix fixe menu, but our first courses and our second courses were both brought to the table at exactly the same time. Incidentally, both of our "first courses" were underdone. They apologized and we were not charged, but the dish sounded tasty on the menu and we didn't get to eat it. The main courses and desserts were not bad, but the overall experience was a big disappointment. With so many other good restaurants in the city to go to, this one is hard to recommend.
Great ambiance. Courteous staff. Outstanding food (especially the short rib dish). Reasonably priced.
Loved our waitress Ashley! She went the extra mile and was super efficient
We went for brunch with bottomless drinks - it took over 20 minutes to get our first drink, and then we had to flag down the waitress for a refill. I think the waitstaff is overworked our waitress didn’t seem to have time to pay attention to us. The food was pretty good but not amazing. The prices are also not high.
Restaurant filled with college students who were loud and obnoxious. We could not hear the others at our table to engage in any conversation. Our waitress had to serve too many tables so we had to wait for our drinks, order, food, and ticket. Food was delicious but not so impressive to lure us back for another experience at this restaurant. We all voted to not return.
Food was ok but they had major problems with service. I am not demanding but I was disappointed. Food arrived late and cold.
Good meal - best burger in NOLA! Grit Tots shouldn’t be missed.
Love Curio's brunch! Service and food are wonderful!
