Lawrence, Kansas is fortunate have Culinaria in our midst. The atmosphere is awesome, the food is amazing, and the beverage list (especially the creative cocktails and wines) is wonderful. It's the kind of place where we can take visitors from out of town and they say, Wow, it feels like we're not in Kansas anymore!
Our party of four included our D-I-L who is vegetarian. This is her favorite restaurant in Kansas, and it never fails to offer delicious meatless options. Meat eater that I am, I loved the pork tenderloin that was served with rice and a sort of tomato ragout. The Banana Foster after dinner drink was amazing!
Great atmosphere, food and service. This restaurant is now on my favorite list.
Culinaria is my favorite restaurant in Lawrence. The food is always full of flavor and delicious. The service is impeccable.
My wife and I are self processed foodies and very health conscious. We found the small plates during happy hour to be wonderful Mediterranean influenced fare. The selections we chose were packed with flavor.
This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of eating here. Both times the service and food were excellent.
This is our favorite, go to restaurant. The food is delicious and very unique to Lawrence. There isn't any place like it. The service is always great and the bar is nice too. Since it's small, see cozy, reservations on the weekend are a good idea. And it can be a little noisy. But the crab cakes, hummus, pickles, pot roast and on and on more than make up for it!
It's so good, but don't tell anyone. It'll be our little secret.
The food was very good. My table enjoyed two appetizers, three entrees, and the cream brulle. Culinaria Mediterranean is on my "go to" list.
Rob is an amazing waitress, so friendly and helpful.
He made the dinner special for us.
Absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend. I can make a meal out of their hummus and pita bread alone. The sangria is amazing. You do need to make a reservation ahead of time. Very popular place for a good reason! YUM!
IT WAS PERFECT !! STEAK WAS DELICIOUS AND THE PORK SHOULDER WAS OUTSTANDING. I NORMALLY DO NOT LIKE BEETS BUT THE BEET APPITIZER WAS EXCELLENT.
delicious offerings, quiet atmosphere, excellent service. A lovely dining experience.
Outstanding. The food was perfectly prepared, and each dish had a unique ambiance. I couldn't recommend it higher.
We had an reservation but showed up about an hour early to grab a cocktail or two at the bar. The waitstaff was able to seat us 45 minutes earlier than our reservation. They helped us move our drinks to our table and were very friendly. We ordered the Jerusalem hummus as an appetizer. The pita was warm and slightly crispy. It paired perfectly with the chorizo and beef in the hummus. Chorizo is usually greasy but this was pleasantly not without compromising flavor. My husband had the chicken fatte and I had the Pot roast and gnocchi. The fatte was visually appealing and provided my husband with a nice kick of spice without overpowering the other flavors present in the dish. My pot roast melted in my mouth and pulled apart with ease. For dessert, we tried the pistachio creme brûlée. The carmalized sugar paired with the pistachios was the right amount of crunch to pair with the brûlée. The pistachio flavor was present but in perfect balance. We will definitely visit again!
I love this place!! The food is excellent and unusual. The cocktails are good and wine list is interesting. Or is noisy and energetic which I love. Service is good.
Amazing food, amazing experience!
This is a great gem in Lawrence. Very authentic and fresh Mediterranean food. Multiple hummus flavors. Everything we ordered was excellent and we will be back!
Innovative great food!! Fun new find in Lawrence. The best dessert ever was pistachio creme brule
We loved this place! Quaint, sophisticated, and authentic!
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Very nice ambience. The restaurant is more typical of something to be found in a large city. We enjoyed it very much. We had the mezzo platter, fried artichoke hearts and hummus. This was plenty for 2 people along with a bottle of wine.
This was the first time we had been to Culinaria and we have lived in Lawrence quite awhile. It is “the best kept secret in Lawrence”.
The food quality is above par, the bar selection is great, the service is friendly and outstanding and the ambiance is just wonderful. Don’t tell anybody about this place because I want a seat !!!! This will be one of our NEW faves !!
Really great as always!!! Need to come here more often. Never disappointed!! Goooooo if you haven’t been here!
We seem to over order with no help from server if I order a platter of a variety of things I sure want to order it again . That seems to happen a lot when we eat there. I feel it would be helpful if the waiter were to say you had that on the plater are you sure you want it again . Also bread isn’t that expensive we always have to ask for more pita . If that’s what everything is ate with it would be nice to have a bit more.
Culinaria is the best restaurant in Lawrence. The food is spectacular, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We had the pot roast gnocchi and the meatloaf special, and both were amazing. The blueberry pear crumble for dessert was the perfect ending. I love this place, and will be back often.
What a great place to go with friends! sharing all those delicious small plates and drinking lovely cocktails in such a beautiful, convivial atmosphere is a joy. I even asked them to sweeten up my cocktail and they did it with a smile. This place is highly recommended. It does get a bit noisy once full, but that detracts nothing from the experience. LOVE.
One of the best restaurants in Lawrence. I’m always excited to find out about the weekly specials— they’re always creative, delicious, and pleasantly unexpected. I dined with my sister and her five year old daughter and we ALL loved our meal, even the picky kid! She especially loved the Jerusalem hummus (ask for schug on the side if you’re spice-averse) and the crispy smashed potato. And the brownie with Turkish coffee ice cream, of course. You MUST get dessert when you eat here. It truly rounds out the whole meal. Service was excellent as usual. Tori is a wonderful server. We had a great experience all around!
Unique and fun menu. We got 3 appetizers and two entrees and they were all great! The atmosphere reminds me of some of the little, out of the way places I visited in Europe. I’m going back for sure!
Great Food, Great Service, Great “Perfect” Drinks!!
This place was AMAZING!!!! Four of us shared 8 of the small plates. We couldn't decide which was our favorite. LOTS of variety for vegetarians. The place would be great for a romantic evening, and it was perfect for dinner with colleagues.
Truly a gem off the beaten path. This venue makes for a lovely evening. Good food, wine & service.
I visited Culinaria for the first time with a few family members for my birthday and we all found it delightful! The food was delicious, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, but simple and clean. The sangria, wine and cocktails were thoroughly enjoyed as well. We were well taken care of by the wait staff and the chef. I have special dietary needs (gluten allergy) which were handled without issue. I have since recommended Culinaria to others and will be returning.
This is a true gem in Lawrence! The ingredients are super fresh and the flavors are mindblowing and intense! It’s a foodie’s paradise. Intimate atmosphere, great happy hour, wonderful service.
Great food, reasonably priced...and comes with a smile!!
Dinner with out of town friends we have not seen in years.
Great food, great service.
Great food and service. Unique space.
Another delightful meal at one of Lawrence's very best. I had the crab cakes for the first time and they were delicious; and I was pleased by the very generous portion.
The food is outstanding, arguably the best in Lawrence, but the service is really lagging. It is not that they have too few people serving, but for whatever reason, service often takes too long, and getting one's server's attention mid-meal can be challenging. Food is often left standing awaiting service, resulting in deserts with melted ice-cream and the like. It may be that it is the typical story of a restaurant ruined by its rapid success - it has become very popular, and it can't seem to handle the crowds.
Craig ~ I sincerely apologize that your service experience was not up to par. We are trying to get more people in and trained and it is admittedly difficult to stay ahead of our rapid growth. Thank you for your compliments on our food. We take the feedback to heart and will share your review with our service staff. It is honestly crushing to hear as I am trying to inform and inspire this crew constantly. We will keep working at it. Thanks for your feedback, Regan Co-owner
My daughter is attending KU and I was looking for a delicious place to have dinner with her. What a gem of a restaurant. My favorite dish (we tried quite a few of them) was the hummus!! Delicious! Good enough to bring another order home! The Brussels and the smashed potatoes were our next favorite. I wanted to love the mushroom side dish, not a fan. Pretty plain and simple. My daughter really enjoyed the potroast and gnocchi. We will be back!
