We are a wine shop inside of a restaurant | Dining and design form the perfect union at San Diego's highly acclaimed CUCINA urbana, a California-inspired Italian kitchen and wine shop, located in the heart of Bankers Hill since 2009.

The restaurant boasts comfort and familiarity, welcoming diners to a country farmhouse with the added whimsy of a contemporary art installation.

CUCINA urbana is the originator of the CUCINA retail wine program where each dedicated shop allows guests to hand select wines at a retail price, either to enjoy with their meal for a minimal corkage fee or for purchase to-go. The wine list is comprised of many familiar labels as well as rare and small-batch gems, with an emphasis on Italian varietals.

    Poor communication from the manager and staff regarding Happy Hour. We were told by both the hostess and bartender that we could order and close the bar tab for Happy Hour and bring the drinks to our outdoor seating as we had a dog. Manager intervened and said no when I was about to order at the bar. It was also not communicated to me directly, but through the bartender while the manager was already standing there. It created a very poor dining experience, and I felt disrespected as a patron.

    This was my second time here and I’m so glad I came back. The food is fantastic, service is exceptional and the atmosphere is on point. Save yourself the hassle of choosing where to go and just come here. (PS…gluten free pasta is excellent)

    This is our to go place whenever we go to Old Globe. Everyone is friendly, great ambiance, shuttle to Old Globe, great vines and the food is really really good.

    We dined here after a show at The Old Globe and we were also celebrating my husband’s birthday. We all had a lovely time. The food and drinks were great and the service was fabulous!

    The food was ok. The waiter was confusing and it almost felt like they were trying to trick us into add-ons, saw the waiter a total of 2 times during our meal. Took about 45 minutes to get our food. The restaurant itself was beautiful, but unfortunately the over all experience was underwhelming.
