Crispin at Studio Voltaire is a 50-cover modern European restaurant and counter bar located in leading gallery and arts organisation Studio Voltaire.

The kitchen, lead by Michael Miles, delivers classic and seasonal menus showcasing the best produce of the British Isles from small-scale and independent producers. Expect modern takes on European and British classics, fresh pastas, charcoal-grilled meat and fish, seasonal vegetables, and comforting desserts.

Alongside an array of sustainable tap wines each season’s wine list will bring a focus to 4 different winemakers, celebrating their individual stories. The wine programme will also include wine tastings and winemaker dinners.

We have read so many great reviews of Crispins, so very keen to try it. The setting is quirky / lovely (church converted to Art gallery with Crispins effectively in the foyer) and the lady who welcomed / served us was charming and kind - so a good start. We ordered a selection of hot and cold dishes as we like to try a bit of everything. The trout was very good. 2 of the hot dishes we had were on the wrong side of warm i,e we didnt ask for them to be reheated but right on the borderline. We chose the pork shoulder for main - a nice cut of meat, but pink in the middle - I know pork can be done this way but we feel that should be flagged at ordering (i.e its cooked pink, are you OK or would you like it well done) as presenting pork this way is not as common as (for example) beef and lamb. My wife wouldnt eat it as she feared it would make her ill - I ate it and am fine but, as the most expensive main on the menu, the fact my wife couldnt eat it was disappointing. So in summary - charming setting and staff - food has potential but was overall disappointing - nowhere near the standard we were expecting based on the reviews we had read in advance

We love this neighbourhood restaurant attached to Studio Voltaire art gallery. It’s not cheap, but it’s superb. Friendly, interested staff, and innovative food really make it. The hake was done to perfection and rested in a delicate herby sauce. We couldn’t fit dessert in, but the few choices looked lovely. Highly recommended!

It was my second time eating at Crispin at Studio Voltaire. I can’t recommend it more highly. Absolutely wonderful to have a local restaurant with such delicious food.

The food though seemingly simple had a lot of complex and complimentary flavours going on, refreshing and interesting menu, great taste and easy to share. I would come back and do recommend. Though very simple interior and set up it fits the vibe of the place - no thrills, relaxed and good food. Perfect lunch spot with the beautiful weather happening~
