Basically, it was over priced. Food was horrible. Near to no attention was paid to food allergy concerns. And when mistakes were brought up to the service staff, they just laughed it off. Seriously, don’t waste your time or money here. There are taco stands that are way better than this place.
La comida es espectacular en todo sentido! Un lugar imperdible en Oaxaca
Great atmosphere, beautiful place and really good food! Service was a bit slow and few waiters considering the place was really busy.
Food, ambiance and service! WOW
Food could have been better and was expecting it to be. Definitely not what I would have expected from an Enrique Olvera restaurant; food felt very phoned-in. Nothing unique, special or particularly tasty.
Food was delicious and the service was good, maybe we expected the service to take an extra effort and explain even more about the food and the wine
I had really high expectations and saved this dinner for my last night in Oaxaca. I was sadly disappointed. No one greeted me at the door. The tables were barren. Each time I had a question about the menu or an ingredient, the server did not know the answer and had to go ask someone else. There was no printed menu available at the end of the meal. Overall lackluster and lifeless experience with very barebones service and mediocre food. Highlight was the ash and mezcal cocktail and the brand new maize-shaped woven basketry and textile sculptures over the bar.
Excellent food, tasting menu only. Service was ok, disorganized. Ambiance and Food are top notch. Would recommend it.
Outstanding in every way from the food to the service.. a complete culinary experience taking you on a journey of fantastic Oaxacan food!
The food was very underwhelming - nothing stood out to any of the three of us, although nothing was bad. The drink pairing involves so many different kinds of liquor it doesn’t really make sense - it’s not a good idea to mix so many. It was disappointing since this place is so talked up. Definitely had much better food at random, less snobby places. So far after five days in Oaxaca it is still the worst meal we’ve had. Just so tasteless in such a flavorful region. Service was fine but very impersonal. I felt bad I dragged my friends there but I thought it would be special! 3 hours later we just felt like we’d wasted the night.
Absolutely amazing! The ambience is just extraordinary and the food is unbelievably delicious. Highly recommended.
Also, the service is marvellous.
The food is good but I was expecting more from an Olvera’s restaurant. It was a six course meal (they sold it as an eight course, considering the first two amouse-bouche/snacks as two and the pre dessert, which is a shot of agua de jamaica and other ingredients), with not so many surprises if one is familiar with Mexican cuisine.
Pescadilla and kampachi were both great but was not impressed with the chicken and frijoles as the main course.
A lot of constructions in the site, but overall a good experience, with great service.
I visited Criollo at the suggestion of a friend and was not disappointed. Seven delicious courses with accompanying drinks, and friendly staff who made me feel welcome. I left feeling fat and happy! I will definitely visit again the next time I come to Oaxaca.
I had such high expectation, maybe too high. The setting is magical, the service started well but got sloppy as the evening progressed. There were high notes with the food and then sad low ones as well. Desert felt like it was thrown at us… three of them, one palette cleanser, one as part of our menu and then another that was gratis. At a restaurant of this level one would expect a meal that is managed. All of the deserts had ice cream with them so basically they all melted.
It was an OK experience, not fantastic, which is what you’d expect from the reputation but also the price. My opinion, save the money and go next door to their lower priced option.
Beautiful tasting menu that is a great representation of the Oaxacan region. Cheers to the chefs.
Delicious food! Best restaurant in Oaxaca for us. Amazing flavor combinations. Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. We ate in Pujol and the quality is very similar so in comparison the price is very reasonable.
Local cuisine in smaller flavorful presentation
Excelente lugar, comida deliciosa
Really good. Pairing was way to go
Really great experience. The menu changes every day. Great drinks as well. Bring bug repellent if seated outdoors.
Amaing six course meal in Oaxaca. Great service, ambiance, food and drinks. Would definitely recommend!
Music a little more festive. It would be good to also have a simple menu.
Buena comida, buen servicio y muy bonito lugar!
Came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday, but they never acknowledged the occasion. Food was mediocre. We’ve definitely had better mole in mercados and other restaurants around the city. Honestly, the best thing was the guava sorbet and the fresh tortillas with the salsa. Most disappointing part of the meal was how we paid 750mxp extra for the beverage pairing, and noticed that everyone else around us got double the mezcal pour.
Our server was a lot more attentive to the Spanish-speaking diners around us. I think she was genuinely nice but was not comfortable serving English-speaking customers…(look, our Spanish is limited but we try to speak some Spanish) to the point where she walked up to us with the credit card machine and then abruptly said, “okay, my boss will come.” Then the guy shows up just to ring us up. It was awkward and surprising for a restaurant with an international reputation.
Muy buena experiencia. Increíble jardín y arte. 👌🏽
Beautiful interior, great service, and delicious food!
Our server Daniel was fantastic. . I am vegan and everything presented was beautiful to look at and tasted incredible! Thank you
We ordered two 8 course meals with drink pairings. They only gave us 6 and drink pairings were just random drinks that didn't go with food at all and they all came out 5 minutes apart. Most overrated and disappointing dining experience in Oaxaca.
One of the BEST meals I have ever had! Worth the money for the food and experience.
Muy rico, excelente atención y hermoso lugar
